Idyllic Setting for Relaxing Retreat
This property is gorgeous. We watched sea life swim by every morning. Kitchen is extremely well stocked and it is a very short distance from Just Like Mamas bakery ( try the pies). Short drive to the highway to head toward hiking locations. We loved it and hope to visit again some day.

An incredible stay at our new favorite property!
We cannot say enough good things about our stay! The house is beautiful, with a coastal beach feel to it, which is exactly what we wanted. It is located on right on the beach with beautiful sunrise, mountain, island and sunset views. It was a very welcome surprise to find out that the beach offers so much to do and to eat. It has several types of oysters, clams, mussels and other types of sea creatures. We even found two large starfish and saw two orcas! Exploring the beach and the nearby islands was the best part of our stay here. The owners were very friendly and responsive! We really appreciated the nice bottle of red wine and chocolate that was waiting for us at arrival. There were many thoughtful touches throughout the house and the overall property, which made it feel like a home. Hands down this was one of the best rentals we experienced in decades. We plan to return as soon as we can! Thank you for a wonderful time :)

Beautiful home and property
A wonderful home with everything you could possibly need, very comfortable beds, lovely lawn for playing boules or other games. We had a very relaxing week. Recommend bringing beach or water shoes as the shore is quite rocky around this area.

Oceanside bliss
We stayed 8 nights and never wanted to leave. Property is on the water, hottub was clean and hot, the manager got back to me within minutes after emailing them, fully stocked kitchen and the linens were very comfortable. We will certainly be coming back! I also did some biking and running on the nearby trails which was great. Stay here!

Another wonderful experience
We had another wonderful week at Pearl Point, and we are looking forward to our stay a year from now. The cottage is welcoming and comfortable, clean and filled with wonderful art and cooking equipment. The view is fabulous, a private forested paradise with panoramic water views. It is truly a home away from hone, with better views.

A slice of BC heaven!!!
Russ & Terry have an beautiful, tranquil, relaxing property. We spent the first three nights of our honeymoon there and I wish it had been longer. This is a Vancouver Island gem that you should consider for your trip. Kind hosts, amazing setting, natural beauty, and if you cook, a kitchen better equipped than most will satisfy the traveling cook. We can not wait to return. Thanks for sharing your spot!!!

Seaside dream accommodation
Pearl point guest house is a luxury Oceanside accommodation facing Denman island. The location is very private and exclusive with 3-4 acres of Douglas fir and cedar forest. The house is very well appointed with stone counters and high end new appliances. Everything has been thought out and Terry’s professional west coast realism art adorns the walls, which lends itself to a warm and enjoyable space. The views are phenomenal out to Bayne’s sound with fishing boats slowly plying the protected waters. We swam everyday in the salt water sand then jumped into the new hot tub. The acreage is privately shared with Russ and Terry that are consummate hosts. Russ was very respectful, private yet engaging when helping to familiarize us with the area. The whole family goes beyond expectation to make the stay rewarding. Our disabled father was accommodated and loved the vacation. The place is a gem. Spend a tad bit more and get an exponential experience.

Another superb visit to this wonderful property in a fabulous location!
Difficult to say what our highlight would be! This was our 2nd visit (from the UK) to this great beach house - excellent hospitality; with a wildlife tour of the property, watching bald eagles feeding, seals out front and observing a family of otters - all from the garden! Eating fresh crab; landed only 7 minutes before purchase at the shop by Denman Island ferry port - Amazing! ; Humpback whales and Transient Orca watching from Campbell River, Lake swimming on Denman Island in Graham Lake (what a find) - and then back each evening to the hot tub and a comfortable bed! Fantastic!

Great Vacation
Pearl Point Beach House is truly a wonderful vacation property, situated in an ideal location on Vancouver Island, providing wonderful views of Denman Island, and which extend to the Sunshine Coast. The peace and tranquillity provided uplifts the soul and the memories enjoyed will last a lifetime. The house was perfectly appointed and had all the amenities needed and was home from home. We shall go back to the UK and look back on our week spent here as something special and would not hesitate to return should we revisit the Island. Thanks Russ and Terry, and thank you Russ for allowing two novices to assist in your feeding of the resident eagles...

Wonderfully relaxing stay!
Pearl Point Beach House provided a lovely, private and relaxing "home" while on vacation. Everyone we dealt with during the booking process and during our stay was extremely pleasant and always provided a timely response. There were four of us staying there, myself, my husband, my mother, and our 12 year old son. We all enjoyed ourselves a lot and appreciated the quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The views were wonderful - even on the one rainy day when we stayed in. The home was well appointed and had everything we needed for a comfortable vacation. We brought our own kayak along and were able to go out on a few enjoyable paddles up and down the local shoreline. The hot tub was great in the evenings and there were lots of local restaurants a relatively short drive away either in Courtenay, Qualicum or Parksville. Thank you for a great vacation - we hope to be back again!

Comfort in Union Bay
Pearl Point Beach House is a lovely and comfortable home and in a rich walking area where the Rosewall Creek Park and Nymph Falls Regional Park walks will become favorites. The house is set back from the road in a forest setting, but with a panoramic water view, complete with the Denman Ferry visible in the far south view. Oh, and the sea lions on the northern far view in the water on a floating structure were interesting to see through binoculars; the creatures are big, and one can hear faint barks from them every once in a while if you open your ears. We even saw a big eagle swooping back and forth a few times on our last few days there. The house is comfortable and well-equipped. The dining table and living room enjoy the panoramic water views, and the furniture in the living room is comfortable, with a TV that has a good-sized, sharp and bright picture. The kitchen is easy to work in and has nice appliances including an oven that broiled our tuna melts perfectly and roasted our new potatoes perfectly. The upstairs bedroom has lovely tree views on one side and water views out the other two sides. We only used the upstairs bed and it was immensely comfortable; we only rent places with at least two beds double-sized or larger now after a previous panoramic water-view, great kitchen rental had only one double bed whose mattress had seen better days and gave us poor sleep the entire week we were there. The hot tub is great, the nicest of this trip, with clear water, superb jets and changing colored lights. We will return!

PEARL POINT
FANTASTIC!!!! The property was more than we could have ever hoped for. The view was magnificent, breath taking views and scenery, loved how it was tucked away in the back for privacy. The house itself was very welcoming with beautiful little touches and decor. We would recommend this to anyone and will definitely come back for a longer stay. We took in alot of the attractions in the area toured Hornby island and ate at numerous restaurants where the food was fantastic...

Pacific Northwest living at its finest.
This place is a gem! Private, relaxing, with a great layout and attention to details throughout the house. Views are stunning, along with all the wildlife sightings. Plenty a beaches and parks to explore nearby. Even on very warm days in August, the home stays cool with the steady ocean breeze, and well placed deck. Was hard to leave after our 7 day visit. Russ and Terry are wonderful hosts, generous, and eager to ensure you have an amazing stay.

Fantastic!
The property was peaceful, quiet, and beautiful. My husband and I were looking for a relaxing getaway and Pearl Point did not disappoint. Barb was lovely, calling a few days into our week long stay to make sure we had everything we needed, and Ashley was so friendly and helpful during the booking process. We will definitely plan another trip and recommend Pearl Point to our friends. We were sad to leave but LOVED our time there!

About the host

Hosted by Terry Hebblethwaite (Pearl Point Beach House)

Host profile image
Terry and Russ met in Canada‘s Northwest Territories in 1979 and married in 1981. They raised their family while operating their business in Alberta, but took every opportunity to visit the West Coast with a dream of one day living on Vancouver Island.

Following patent application and start up of an environmental/Safety products company for the oil and gas industry, Russ sold his first business to a First Nations consortium, allowing flexibility as to where they could live.

Always looking, Terry found this 5.54 acre, 1500+ feet of waterfront property for sale online, which they purchased in 2001. They chose to name it “Pearl Point”; after Russ‘s mother Pearl, for its Pearl producing oysters on the beach, and because this property is truly a unique Gem.

In addition to spending time on Pearl Point, Terry and Russ enjoy time in Alberta where their son Tyler, daughter Ashley, with spouses and eight grandchildren live. They also enjoy spending time in Phoenix and traveling internationally.

Russ & Terry have enjoyed stunning natural, historical and cultural beauty of many places around the world and are ever grateful for the ability to call one of the most beautiful places they’ve seen, home. They look forward to sharing this piece of paradise with you.

What makes this property unique

Pearl Point was formed thousands of years ago by material from the high ground of Vancouver Island washing into Baynes Sound through Hindoo Creek, forming a fluvial fan.

The freshwater of Hindoo Creek, vantages allowing warning of impending danger from the sea, a mature forest of cedar, Douglas fir and hemlock offering protection from the elements, materials for shelter, boats and clothing along with an abundance of berries, shellfish and finfish, this point has served as home to indigenous people for hundreds of years, evidenced by middens around the property.

We bought this property in 2001 from a family who’d owned it since acquiring deed from the Crown 118 years prior. We built the beach house in 2002 and have enjoyed the privilege of hosting guests from around the world since 2003.

We hope you enjoy Pearl Point, it’s trees, flora and fauna, high and low tides, our resident eagles, shellfish on the beach, occasional orca and humpback whale sightings out front and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets from either inside or outside. Please feel free to explore the property and please, do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.

We hope you give Pearl Point a page in your book of memories.
