The Sugar Shack was recently featured on ABC News's "Sweet Retreats":
Location, Location, Location!
Welcome to the Sugar Shack located at the Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor at Twin Lakes Beach. This is one sweet place! Originally built over 70 years ago and well before the Santa Cruz Small Yacht Harbor was constructed in 1962, the original building withstood the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989. Completely renovated within the last 4 years, the "Sugar Shack" is now an eco-friendly "green" building with special electric vehicle charging station and is fully operational by solar power. The Sugar Shack has high efficiency windows, lighting and was refinished using environmentally friendly products.
The Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor brings endless activities for your family & friends to enjoy making for an unforgettable beach vacation. This little piece of paradise is just steps away from Twin Lakes Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Santa Cruz, featuring beach volleyball nets, bonfire pits, and is home to "The Crows Nest" restaurant offering fresh seafood daily. During the summer months the "The Crows Nest" hosts the most epic beach parties on Thursday evenings with fun & funky live entertainment, beach dancing, an outdoor bar, and tasty BBQ. Take a first class cruise through Monterey Bay aboard the Chardonnay's Charters 70-foot sailing yacht as you take in the beauty of our perpetual coastlines and experience the exhilaration of sailing. Sip on a glass of red wine and relax on the Chardonnay's spacious deck or inside the main cabin during a sunset cruise.

Sugar Shack--Oh man, what a gem! Seriously, that was a LOVELY home. It had so much room and was perfect for cooking large meals together. The outside deck was great. And the amenities were fabulous.
My family stayed at the Sugar Shack for a week in early October. This was our second time staying there and John and Liz (Beachnest) did a fantastic job for us...as always. The place was ready to go and very comfortable and the location is immediately adjacent to the beach. All possible amenities for a rental were immediately available to us. The view is amazing and the setting is quiet and relaxing. Always nice to know that John and Liz keep their emergency phone with them at all times in case there's a problem so they can provide assistance if necessary. We can't say enough about our experience with Beachnest and the owners. We will come to stay with you again!
