Location, location, location! I never thought I would find myself living in a frilly Victorian---I am more the mid-century, post-modern type---but I have grown to love and appreciate the historic nature of my home and it's architectural style. And the view isn't bad, either. :-) I would say this vacation rental is most ideally suited to guests who are seeking non-standard lodging/accommodation that is superbly situated.
What makes this Cottage unique
Landmark property registered on the National directory as 'Epworth-by-the-sea'. The carriage house was actually used to house a buggy and horses during the late 1800's. The bottom floor has been converted into a garage and storage; the top floor is the rental unit. Many of the original design features remain, including rough hewn floors made with redwood harvested from the Santa Cruz mountains more than 100 years ago. We are pet friendly (fees apply---please let us know in advance), and four-legged visitors seems to enjoy the area quite a bit. Off leash dog beach less than half a mile from the property. This property works exceptionally well for longer term guests seeking a home away from home. Guests booking for 30 nights or more are exempt from paying Transient Occupancy Tax (normally 11% of rental cost for stays less than 30 days). We are happy to adjust your rental quote accordingly for longer stays...just ask! Also, we believe in legitimacy, and in providing our guests with peace of mind in knowing that we faithfully observe all rules and taxation principles required in our local Zoning ordinance. Our City of Santa Cruz TOT permit number is 18-0090.

Hand down this is the most lovely place I have ever stayed at for a vacation. Everything has been carefully thought of. Such a sense of peace. My puppies felt at home too. Iwish I was there now. We are in the middle of a wildfire in Redding and waiting on news of being evacuated. If you are thinking of staying in Santa Cruz.... this would be a fabulous place to stay. Thank you Khristina!
Stayed 3 nights out of our honeymoon. Perfect place to escape. Total privacy and a great feel to the place. Amazing bathroom and shower. The cliffs are right across the street, as well as the bike path to the Boardwalk. Boardwalk was only a 15 minute walk. Loved the town, shops and thrift stores. A little slice of heaven.
Cozy, convenient, and lovely!
The carriage house was exactly what we were looking for. It’s cozy and the ideal size for the two of us and our two dogs. You are in the middle of Santa Cruz and only steps to the water, but also protected from the noise and commotion of the street by the main house. The kitchen and bathroom are stunning and thoughtfully stocked with anything you could need. The rain shower is heaven. The balcony is perfect for two people to enjoy a morning coffee or after dinner drink. You even get a partial view of the water. Simply perfect! Khristina responds promptly to all communication and ensures her guests feel welcome and at home. Highly recommend!
Property was beautiful, well equipped and close to the sites of Santa Cruz. Great, cozy, clean
Loved our stay. Some screens on windows would have helped keep the mosquitoes out on nice cool evenings. Other than that the place was great and the owner was friendly and attentive to our needs. Can’t beat the location and proximity to beach, surf, and endless walking or biking trails. We loved it and will be back again.
Tremendous location + peaceful apartment loft
My wife and I loved the location within the city near the cliffs and the ocean. The upstairs one bedroom apartment loft is very impressively (and recently) renovated, quiet, and relaxing. The degree of privacy with nothing but a garage below us was awesome. Parking that was immediately next to our unit was very convenient. We highly recommend this place!
Easy stroll to Municipal Wharf, Boardwalk, Casino/Arcade, SC Surf Museum, off-leash dog beaches, and so much more. We are located on scenic West Cliff Drive, in close proximity to the best of what Santa Cruz has to offer, rain or shine. We'd love to host your next visit!

We believe in legitimacy and transparency. The local 11% City of Santa Cruz Transient Occupancy Tax will be added to all bookings less than 30 nights in duration. Please note that $75 pet fee is PER PET, but we will often adjust or waive additional fees for longer stays, or if you plan on bringing more than one animal companion with you.
