Walk out the back door to a private five acres that leads to the San Juan National Forest. Explore the area on foot (hiking and hunting), 4x4 (Sheep Cabin Creek Trail) or sled down our epic hill in the backyard!
All conveniently located 15 minutes outside of Pagosa. Five minutes from HWY 84.
Home details:
This cozy home is ideal for a true mountain adventure. Enjoy sitting by the fireplace or ornamental pond after a long day exploring in Southwestern CO.
Make use of the chef's stove and fully equipped kitchen. We have everything you need from pots and pans to crockpots and mixers, making meal prep a breeze. Large refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave included.
Utilize the mud room to store all of your outdoor supplies - perfect place to keep the skiing and hunting boots warm! We have two sleds and two pair of snowshoes for use in the winter months.
Two bedrooms that sleep seven guests comfortably. The downstairs “master” bedroom has a queen bed. The large upstairs bedroom has two queen beds.
Ample space to park multiple vehicles and trailers. Please inquire if your party would like to park an RV or camper. Inquire about animals - horses and dogs welcome.
The home is very family friendly, stocked with kids books, games, DVD movies, kids tepee play tent, and portable pack and play.
Walk out your back door and explore the 5 private acres, backing up to the San Juan National Forest. Truly an epic yard/property to explore and play all day! We see many deer, turkey and elk on the property. In the winter, make sure to use the provided sleds on our sledding hills or explore on foot with the two pair of snow shoes.
Enjoy a meal out on our patio. Outdoor table, propane grill and gas fire pit is available for guest use.
Cell Service and WiFi:
We are a bit out of town and do have limited cell service at the property. Your service varies greatly depending on your cell carrier. We do have WiFi to connect in order to make calls and work/distance learning. Please note: we JUST installed Starlink (a mic faster internet service now that it is available in our area in August 2022). Please inquire about further questions.
Getting Around:
Located directly across from Sheep Cabin Creek Trail you can park your trailer, unload the toys and ride the day away.
Sledding hill is located on the backside of the hill directly behind the house.
Hunt and Hike through the National Forest through the private access on the backside of the property. Both Fish Creek and Opal lake trailheads are 10 miles up the scenic Blanco Basin road.
History:
This home was built in 1898, and known by the Blanco Basin locals as the "halfway house." It was the halfway point between Pagosa and the "Bench" country residents. At this location, sleighs would be swapped for wagons and a new team of horses would continue the trip into town. Over the last 120 years, many travelers have enjoyed this property!
Additional Details:
Please message owner for pet approval and to inquire about rules. Pet fee automatically adds if you select pet fee under your guest count.
