Charming Beach Home • Sleeps 11 • 1 mile to Fernandina Beach
Gather your family and friends and experience a piece of Old Florida charm.
This beautifully updated 100-year-old historic beach farmhouse sits on 3 peaceful acres beneath magnificent live oak trees draped in Spanish moss, all while being just 1 mile from the beach and minutes from restaurants, shopping, walking trails, and downtown Fernandina Beach.
Inside, you'll find a home filled with character, history, and personality. The owner is an antiques dealer, and the farmhouse reflects that passion with vintage treasures, eclectic décor, and thoughtful touches throughout. Guests often describe the home as having a nostalgic, welcoming feeling that reminds them of simpler times.
To be completely transparent, this is not a modern, minimalist vacation rental. It's a century-old farmhouse with creaky floors, unique details, collected antiques, and the charm that only comes with a home that has been loved for generations. Some guests leave dreaming about owning a historic farmhouse of their own. Others head home appreciating their modern houses a little more. Either way, it's an experience you won't soon forget.
What you'll find is a clean, comfortable, spacious home with cold air conditioning, plenty of room to gather, and a setting that feels worlds away from everyday life while still being in the heart of everything.
Rent a golf cart or bikes and explore the island with ease. The beach is just a short ride away, and the world-famous Ritz-Carlton is only 1.5 miles from the property.
If you appreciate history, character, giant moss-covered oak trees, and homes that tell a story, we think you'll fall in love with this special place.

So glad you enjoyed your stay in our home. Thank you for the review and please come back anytime. Happy birthday 🎂
Our family enjoyed this beautiful house! Just a few points here:
-It was exactly as described in the listing!
-The owner has provided everything we could possibly -require;
-The kitchen was better equipped than my home;
-The beds were the most comfortable we have ever slept in;
-There was so much to do on the property, even when it rained!
We really enjoyed staying in this home- the bed we used was comfortable and the house very clean. There are some wonderful antiques on the property, which give it an artful and welcoming feel. It’s an older home in an older neighborhood, but it’s been nicely kept up and is on a lot of land. It’s quite at night and accessible to everything on the island within 10 minutes or so. It was perfect for what we needed. The only thing I would say is to make sure you bring drinking water since there is no Britta filter and the water has a strong iron smell to it. The hot water is hot and the ac works great!!

Hi Daniela, we are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and thank you for the great review. As far as the water goes, The entire island has an iron smell because we are very close to the Papermill. We do have a well which helps with that but I would recommend that anybody that comes to Jacksonville or Fernandina to bring their own bottled water because even the restaurants ice water does not taste very good. Not much we can do about the water😉 we did enjoy having you so please feel free to come back at any time.
Hi! We enjoyed our stay. The house was very comfortable and has a fun quirkiness to it, very charming. The beds were comfortable and we had room for everyone (7 adults). One of our favorite things was the screened porch where we sat and played games at night.
We found some beach buckets and chairs in the car port (and added one because my daughter left hers there). It was nice to have access to some beach toys.
We had a great time and your trees made a perfect backdrop for family photos. Everyone got dressed up and posed for photos during golden hour under the trees.
It’s a bit of a walk, but the beach is within walking distance. Our adult kids went to Disney and husband and I opted for the beach, but the kids had the car. It was about 20 minutes of walking which isn’t bad, but the walk back….we got an Uber! LOL!
Thanks for helping us make some more great family memories!
If you’re looking for a fun, casual space for a larger group, this is a nice place.
Kindest regards, Tina
The home created an unsafe environment for my grandchildren and pet. The backyard fence had missing boards, boards sticking out where a child could get hurt. The right side of the fence is extremely wobbly, to where a child or a dog could get hurt. There were nails raised from the deck, which could cause a cut to a foot. The bathtub was rusted inside the tub. The kitchen sink was rusted. The downstairs bathroom had an old basin attached to the wall which had wash towels located inside. The basin was all rusty. I get it's an antique, but it was a health issue as a person in the house whom is a Diabetic. They listed there was an elevator but one was not visible nor the host did not give further information. The furniture was in need repair and soiled. The host said she had the home deep-cleaned. It was advertised as pet-friendly. But with the backyard fence in the condition it was. This was a safety issue for my dog. Some nails were pulling away from the fence. The side of the house had panels that had sharp edges. The outside was poorly kept. Some of these issues were addressed with the host. The individual told us there is a strict no refund policy. In one of the bathrooms had missing tiles to which a person could had cut there foot on. Her comments "I am sorry the home was not up to your standards". The list could go on. This has been reported to Vrbo and the response was I needed to address with the host.

It’s important for future guests to note that this reservation was completed for the full stay, and the request for a refund was submitted at checkout after the stay had already taken place.
Also, It should be noted, we do NOT have rust stains In the bathtub nor anywhere Inside the home. And we do NOT claim there Is an elevator. We have never claimed that. Also, we did NOT have missing tiles as he stated In the upstairs bathroom as we only have linoleum on the bathroom floor. We do have tile In the shower but no tiles are missing nor have any tiles ever been missing In the shower. This guest has made up lies and I am officially In conversation with VRBO on how to remove this false review.
As far as the missing board on the back yard fence Is concerned, yes that was missing and we were not aware of that, but we Immediately offered to have someone come out to fix It and the tenant declined.
That said, we always take guest concerns seriously and aim to provide a safe and comfortable experience for everyone who stays at our home.
Our property is a 100-year-old historic farmhouse, and we are very transparent about that in the listing. Many guests specifically choose the home because of its nostalgic charm, antique décor, and unique character, which are frequently mentioned in our positive reviews.
Also, The home sits on three acres with large oak trees, and while we maintain the property regularly (including annual exterior pressure washing), outdoor elements can occasionally show normal wear between maintenance visits.
The home is also professionally cleaned between every stay, and we have since inspected the property again to ensure everything remains in proper condition. This tenant actually agreed the home was clean In our text messages.
This home tends to be a great fit for guests who enjoy historic coastal cottages with character and antique elements, rather than a newly built or modern property.
We have many great reviews on our competitors site as most of our guest come from there if you would like to see honest reviews of our home.
Online pictures did not match reality! You’ve heard of the expression that no expense was spared, in this case, just the opposite is true from our perspective - every expense was spared! The ambiance and amenities of the place were dreadful. Some examples: no toaster in the kitchen ; there is an electric mixer BUT we could never find the beaters for it; no ice trays in the refrigerator; the BBQ on the back porch was abysmal, it was rusted and in terrible shape; all the furniture was uncomfortable and covered with slip covers; the items in the kitchen were a mishmash and looked like they came out of a neighborhood garage sale, a jumble of styles, not very comprehensive, etc.; what items were in the kitchen cabinets were old and very used; lots of junk in the garage.. Additionally, we had to pay an additional fee for insurance coverage in case we damaged the property - I don’t think that is possible! It just looks like everything was done as cheaply as possible. Our overall impression was that the furnishings (excluding the unique stuff) were just a hodge podge of items gathered from a wide number of sources and thrown together. There is not the usual reference book of information you find in other rentals. I would never recommend this place to any of my friends and clearly, we would not return. We planned on staying for ten nights, BUT left less than 24 hours after arrival.

AJ, Our photos look EXACTLY like the home. We let everyone know that the home is 100 years old! We do not try and hide that. As far as no toaster or ice trays, when you notified me upon your arrival I went on amazon and sent them over night to you. Yes, things get missplaced at times. As far the slip covers on the furniture, we do that for sanity reasons, so that we can clean them after each guest. We have GREAT reviews on our home(the majority being on the competitors site). I understand that this is your opinion but this review is not accurate. And as far as your comment on "hodge podge", the owner is an anitques collector and dealer. Again, I state that in the description of the property. I understand you didn't like our home but to leave a review like this is pretty low of you. Please don't ever come back.
This was an amazing rental experience. The location and property was perfect. We loved the house and was exactly like it looked in the pictures and from the reviews. Every room seemed to tell a story, from the furnishings to the decor. Very quite, cozy, and just the right size for a party of 6. We were close to the beach, shopping and downtown Fernandina. The owner gave such good details for check in and out process along with best places to eat and shop. The kitchen was so well equipped, we cooked our own meals and had lazy evenings sitting around enjoying each other’s company and the beautiful property. Can’t wait to go back again.
This was the best place we could have picked. It was the most homey feeling cottage for our group. In a great location on the Island, but also lots of space and parking. The hot water was so nice and the beds were oh so comfy!

About the host
Hosted by Candice
I'm an Atlanta native who has spent much of my life between Georgia and Florida, and even lived in Spain for a year. I've always been drawn to places with character, history, and personality rather than properties that feel exactly like everything else.
I enjoy traveling, discovering unique destinations, and creating memorable experiences for guests. As a host, my goal is simple: provide a clean, comfortable, welcoming place where people can relax, make memories, and experience the charm of Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach.
I believe the best trips aren't always about luxury, they're about how a place makes you feel. That's what I hope guests take away from their stay here.
Why they chose this property
I chose this area because it gives visitors the opportunity to experience several destinations in one trip.
You can spend your morning relaxing on the beach, your afternoon exploring historic Downtown Fernandina, and your evening enjoying fresh seafood at one of Amelia Island's many local restaurants. Shopping, golf courses, parks, walking trails, horseback rides, kayaks, surfing, biking and outdoor activities are all nearby.
What I love most is that Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach is that it still feels authentic. It has a rich history, beautiful scenery, friendly locals, and a slower pace that encourages you to unwind and enjoy your surroundings.
The location is also ideal for exploring beyond the island. Historic St. Marys, Georgia is just a short drive away and makes for a wonderful day trip, while Jacksonville offers additional dining, shopping, entertainment, and attractions within easy reach.
For me, it's the perfect combination of beach town, historic charm, coastal relaxation, and convenience and that's what keeps our guests coming back.
What makes this property unique
What makes this property unique is that it offers something increasingly difficult to find: a genuine historic beach farmhouse with personality, charm, and a story of its own.
Built more than 100 years ago and thoughtfully updated for modern comfort, this home combines the character of a bygone era with the conveniences guests expect today. The spacious layout, towering oak trees draped in Spanish moss, and eclectic collection of antiques create an atmosphere that feels warm, nostalgic, and distinctly different from a typical vacation rental.
The owner is an antiques dealer, and you'll find carefully curated vintage pieces and unique details throughout the home. Many guests tell us the house reminds them of visiting a family beach cottage, spending summers with grandparents, or stepping back into a simpler time.
While the home is certainly historic, guests are often pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it is. The beds are cozy, the air conditioning stays nice and cold during the Florida summers, and there's plenty of room for families and groups to spread out and enjoy time together.
One of the things we love most is that larger families and groups can stay together under one roof without paying the premium often associated with large beach properties. Instead of renting multiple hotel rooms, everyone can gather in one place, share meals, make memories, and enjoy the charm of a home that has stood the test of time.
This isn't a sleek, modern, minimalist rental and that's exactly why so many guests love it. Some guests leave dreaming of owning a historic home of their own. Others head home appreciating the quirks and character that only a century-old house can provide.
If you appreciate history, old oak trees, coastal charm, comfortable spaces, and homes with soul, we think you'll feel right at home here.
