A step back in time
We enjoyed our stay at Casa Barone, the house has full of character, is centrally located and guests can really experience the Gozitain lifestyle. Café at the square terrasse, shopping for bread and vegetables in local markets and walking everywhere. The neighborhood is delightful, the beds are comfortable and the owners respond quickly to all our needs. Living three weeks in the house was an adventure.... when it rains, it rains in the middle of the house.... when you leave your bedroom you are litterally outside...which has its charm but for some that could be challenging.... walking up the stairs in the rain to go to bathroom. The temperatures were sometimes cooler and the house would get a bit humid and cold. We also had a few issues with water, water pressure and sewers but the owners were very rapid in solving the problems. Amenties are old and not up to par with canadian standards : old washrooms, small gas oven , old kitchenware.... but it was clean and Rose came to clean and change linens everyweek. Joe was also very helpful in arranging transport, etc... they were very easy to reach. All in all we trully enjoyed our adventure at Casa Barone and for the price, location , tranquility , comfort of the beds and cleanliness we would recommend it. Annie Surprenant stayed at house april 29 to may 19 2019.
Charming renovated farmhouse bang in the centre of Victoria.
Had a great time, Gozo is fantastic. Joe could not have been more helpful or friendly.
We are very happy to hear, that you liked your stay in this house, full of character. You are always welcome again.
Casa Barone Victoria
The house was wonderful, perfect location in the centre of Victoria. The roof trrace was a great place to sit and have breakfast or a glass of wine. Lovely!
lovely relaxing holiday
Smooth taxi transfer from airport to ferry to house and the owner, Joseph Sultana and his sister Gilbert and their uncle Michael couldn't be more helpful. The property is quirkily lovely and has all that is needed for a holiday. Quietly situated in the old part of Victoria (Rabat), yet only a minute or two away from St George's Piazza and Independenza Square. A great base from which to explore Gozo and meet the friendly, welcoming residents. We had a lovely time, thank you.
Perfect place for a solo getaway. Just lovely. Peaceful and a beautiful house in walking distance of some of the best places in Gozo. My only criticism is that I had to go and buy the basics, salt, pepper, tea, coffee and loo roll. Normally there's something just to have a cuppa on arrival. A small gripe but easy to fix. It is a tremendous place though and I hope to return. Local shop keeper was wonderful and super helpful. The owner was lovely and got up at stupid o clock to take me to the ferry. A brilliant place.
I'm happy to hear, that you loved this beautiful house and location in the old city of Victoria. I'm sorry, that you didn't find such basics - it will be cahnged immediately. But Coffee will not provided in all properties, as guest's taste in coffee will be too different. Looking forward to welcome you again!
Lovely character building.
A very clean and comfortable property ideally situated for access to good restaurants and local sightseeing. Away from the tourist centres makes it quieter and gives a local feel.
I'm happy to hear that you liked your holidays in this house full of character. Stefan
This 400 years old charming farmhouse is located in the old city of Victoria. All antique elements are saved, especially the beautiful arches. 'Casa Barone' - for our price-conscious guests has two floors and the large, equipped roof-terrace with its phantastic views over Victoria.
Restaurants and all shoppings you can reach easily by feet. Parking place 3min. from the house. From Victoria you will reach all objects of interest and the beach of Ramla Bay within a few minutes by rent-a-car or bus.
Victoria is the capital town of the island of Gozo. The name Victoria, locally known as Rabat, was given to the medieval town of Gozo in 1887 in honour of the famous British Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations. At the same instance, the town was also raised to the status of a city; then officially known as Citta' Victoria.
The centre of the capital city of Gozo is Pjazza Indipendenza, known as it-Tokk. The square is dominated by the Banca Giuratale, built between 1733 and 1738, formerly the seat of the municipal government of Gozo and presently of the Victoria Local Council. In the mornings, there is an open market that shares the square with several open air cafes. The magnificent St.George Basilica is located in the centre of the old town, just off the open air market in Pjazza Indipendenza. The cobweb of narrow streets around St. George's Basilica are the oldest in town and are worth a walkaround.
