Liked: Cleanliness, location
Disliked: Check-in, communication
Fridge didn't cool, had to throw food away this morning. Ceiling fan and light would not turn off. Had to sleep with light on all night. Didn't notice until we were ready for bed at midnight. Not much sleep. Musty odor never went away. No coffee creamer. Bed's mediocre. Front door key was of no use because door knob didn't catch. We had to use the padlock every time we left and it was very hard to open.

I am very sorry your stay was not a good experience for you. I always strive to provide an enjoyable stay for our guest. There are fan/light controls on the column in the center of the room to turn on/off. As for all other issues, they will be addressed immediately.
The trip was just what my best friend and I needed as a weekend getaway! It was a short drive to round top and we ate at the farmhouse in town which we highly recommend. Check in was easy (even getting there after dark) and the host was responsive! We will definitely be back.

Thank you for staying with us and being a great guest.
Having lived in McDade TX for many years, I always liked the historical buildings “uptown”. Returning to TX for a family wedding, it was a perfect location between Bastrop, Elgin, & Copeland.
Enjoyed my stay & highly recommend this place.
This location was an excellent pick for the Austin F1 Grand Prix weekend. It is in the direction of the least amount of traffic in and out of COTA track. Though it is still about an hour away. But it’s a very quiet and restful place due to the small town atmosphere. The local Dollar General has everything one might need as far as supplies go.. The property was clean however being a renovated almost 150 years old property it does struggle to keep the crickets and cockroaches on the outside. Luckily my wife tolerated the occasional bug sighting due to the old west country charm ambiance that the place oozes. I loved the Chai Latte Kcups, nice add.
They have not posted any pictures of the room behind the main room. It’s a huge bathroom, with washer and dryer, toilet, sink, shower, table. There is back door from the bathroom out to a large covered area between this property and the antique store next door, big backyard too.
From the pictures we initially saw in the ad, my wife and I thought this was one small room with everything including all bathroom amenities. This is not the case. The layout has two separate rooms and is many times larger than expected.
The listing also doesn't include the fact that there is a full size grill outside with gas tank available (I had told my wife that there wouldn't be a grill because it would have for sure been listed in the ad, lol). Additionally, the ad does not list the Koenig coffee machine, the espresso machine, nor the complete kitchen accessories.
We were there for several days so ended up using the washer and dryer. Thought the washer didn't work, but found out it only works on one setting (can't remember which one).
Only suggestion is to clean the front rug where it seems a previous guest let their pet relieve themselves (perhaps us not bringing pets made this was more noticeable).
All, in all, worth the visit and wouldn't be surprised if we come back one day soon.

William thank you for your comments and suggestions and for staying with us.
My sister came to McDade to attend a wedding at the nearby winery. Close location. Property is very quiet. Get supplies in nearby Elgin. Would definitely return.
What a unique listing! It was cool to introduce the history of the old bank building with the vault still inside. Had lots of amenities. Appreciated that there was covered parking available. The air conditioner unit in the bathroom was a fantastic addition to the property. It did take a little while for the air conditioner and fan to cool off the big room at night, but overall we had a great stay!
Southern small town charm. Beds are super comfy. AC was iced cold :) Highly recommend visiting the historical museum a couple of buildings down. Will definitely be back.
