Cottage in Oskar Bay, along Houghton Portage Canal

Renovated cottage in Oskar Bay along the Houghton Canal road, this cottage was originally built to house the school teacher for Oskar Bay. Then it was turned into a summer rental in the 50s. It was fully renovated in 2020 and is awaiting your stay. Included is a shared boat dock with our other rental house next door, 100 feet of lakefront that is ideal for fishing, swimming, kayaking and a great sunrise view.

This is a small, not fancy unit perfect for a place to base out of as well as spend a little time enjoying the dock and waterfront access just across the road. The check-out instructions are short and sweet. We would consider returning in the future.

My husband and I rented this house for a few days well visiting the area. We did not realize it sat directly off the main Rd which can be very loud., Be mindful pulling in the driveway, it’s steep and winding.The kitchen and living room were quaint. The bedroom is very small!! The bed was old and only a full size which is very small for 2 adults. The mattress was so uncomfortable we could not sleep and unfortunately checked out after our first night! I understand furnishings can be pricey although a clean, comfortable bed is so important when you’re renting a home and would be very much appreciated by the guest!

This is my second stay at the cabin. It’s a perfect location. Close to everything and quiet. Great view of the canal. I will stay again next I’m in the UP.

This is a beautiful retreat 10 minutes out of town. It is a cottage with a full sized kitchen. Quiet and cute and very clean. Good lake access with chairs. This is a no frills place. Couple small things that make for the good but not great rating. There is a medium size padlock fromOutside. And a small slide lock inside. There isn’t a “dead bolt” as listing says. I am a single woman and would have preferred an actual deadbolt. The coffee machine is a kurieg machine and didn’t have any regular coffee available. I brought stuff to make a pour over, so I didn’t need any nor did I ask, but be aware. not all windows have screens including the bedroom window. I learned the hard way my first night when bugs started to come in. It was cool enough and they provided a box fan if I needed it. Finally I would have preferred a second fire alarm in the main/kitchen area. There is one above the bedroom. I did have a cold shower the first morning due to a problem that was fixed quickly. Host was responsive. WiFi worked reliably well. I love this area, and it was fun to stay at the lake but I won’t return to this particular spot.

Great Cottage close enough to town but far enough away

Perfect location for my wife and I to move our son into college. We also took a day trip to copper harbor and 1 to munising to kayak pictured rocks. A great place to launch your UP adventure.

Very Cute Cabin

This cabin was small and snug, but just what I needed. Close enough to the main drag to get Door Dash delivered. Great view of the canal. Upgraded nicely. Good WiFi!

Lovely spot!

Overall we had a great stay! The home is in a beautiful location and very convenient. My only complaint is that the bedroom is listed as having a Queen bed, and it was actually a full size bed. Not a huge issue but not what we expected!

Amazing

This was a perfect location for my stay. Close to downtown Houghton and Hancock. The Beach was only 3miles down the road. This was a cozy cottage for 1 or couple. Very clean with all the amenities you may need. William was quick to answer all my questions and gave a few tips on where to see the areas attractions. I will definitely be back for my next trip to the Up!
