Coker Creek Creekside Bungalow

Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

Overview

About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Sleeping Porch, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

This quaint bungalow is nestled creekfront in complete privacy at the end of the road surrounded by mountain forest. It is right on a rushing creek running through all 3 acres. Enjoy panning for the gold we always find in it, sleeping to the peaceful sound of the creek directly from the comfortable sleeping porch or bedroom with beautiful views of the creek, relaxing on the spacious screened in porch day and night, or toasting marshmallows in the outside fire-pit while star gazing.

It is THE perfect place for a relaxing, romantic getaway for a couple, or bring the kids who will absolutely love playing in the creek and panning for gold. The outdoor screened in porch is THE BEST place for daytime napping or nightime sleeping in the large, very comfortable queen futon. Often two couples choose the bungalow because of the outside porch sleeping or pull out queen sofabed. If you are looking for a larger cabin, please look at my other creekfront cabin which sleeps 8-10 also in Coker Creek at vrbo #182825

In the evening, the creek has beautiful low voltage lighting throughout the property. Nearby there are hundreds of hiking trails including four incredible waterfall hikes and Bald River which is the most spectacular river to kayak, fish, or swim.

Cyclists can bike right from the property straight to the Cherahala Skyway and also the beautiful River Road. Motorcyclists love staying here as well because of the easy access to the Skyway and easy gravel road to the cabin.

If you enjoy seclusion, are a nature lover, and like the peacefulness of creek side accommodations, this is the place for you. You won't find a more cozy, private cabin RIGHT ON the rushing creek. It is truly getting away from it all and back to nature relaxing in paradise. There isn't another cabin like it available for rental.

About Jennifer Haase

I chose this area because of the simplistic back to nature feel of Coker Creek. I love being outdoors, listening to the creek, watching the stars, sitting by the outdoor firepit and expecially sleeping on the outdoor screened in porch. Incredible!

Jennifer Haase purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Jennifer Haase chose East

This area is a nature lover paradise. It offers tons of hiking trails, the most gorgeous waterfalls I have ever seen outside of Hawaii, Bald River, and the Cherahala Skyway. The ATV trails and riding in this area is exceptional.

What makes this cabin unique

Relaxing in the screened in porch directly on the creek cannot be surpassed. Being in complete privacy surrounded by forest is extremely peaceful.

Amazing nature activities at your doorstep. It is a river and waterfall paradise with 4 incredible waterfalls within a small radius drive of the cabin. You could spend a lifetime here and never see it all. Here is a 'top' listing of some recommendations:

Buck Bald –It’s a quick drive up to a gorgeous 360 degree view. Nice stop and beautiful sunset view.

White Water Rafting – Ocoee, Nantahala or river rafting on the Hiawassee all nearby

Bald River Falls – about 25 minute pretty drive directly to the falls. You can view it right from the bridge. There is a gorgeous hike up to the top of the falls and continues for as many miles as you can handle.

Bald River – there are great swimming holes and incredible scenic fishing areas all along the River Road on the way to the Falls. There are several pullout spots on the right where you can park, bring chairs down to the river, sit on the rocks, fish, swim, sunbathe.

Cherahala Skyway is a beautiful scenic drive which is accessible by going through town, or by going the back way towards Bald River Falls.

Indian Boundary Lake – this is a great mountain swimming and fishing lake where you can lounge on the beach, hike or bike the three mile easy trail surrounding the lake. It is located off of the Cherahala skyway about five miles past Turkey Creek road.

Another great hike to a beautiful waterfall is Falls Branch Falls. This is located off of the skyway just before the NC border. It is on the left, with the sign W Rattlesnake on the right. If you pass in to NC, just turn around and it will be on the right past E Rattlesnake.

Other great falls are Coker Creek Falls and Conasauga Falls. The coker creek welcome center has all the information and directions to these. The welcome center is located on Highway 68 about a mile south of the cabin turn off. I have left also brochures for other attractions in the cabin.

Gold panning is a huge attraction to Tellico Plains from people nationwide. Bill’s pitstop is the premier guide for gold panning tours as well as cave tours. He takes people to his hidden location and teaches how to gold pan. He is extremely knowledgeable about the area. He knows of incredible caves some with stalagtites right nearby.

Tellico Grains – fabulous homemade breads you can have sliced to take to the cabin, sweets, and the best sandwiches . It’s a must stop! They are closed Sunday and Monday, but open otherwise for lunch until 2pm. On Saturdays they make homemade brick oven pizzas (they get very busy, so I recommend calling ahead to order). They are right in the middle of town.

Beautiful area! Loved the screened porch in the morning. Wifi password would not work☹️

Owner's Response: Thank you for alerting us to the dryer issue which was immediately rectified and the dryer works perfectly. The bungalow is very private at the very end of the road against a steep mountain where the creek runs along and the entire property corners the creek and faces all the towering hemlocks and rhododendrums in the forest. You pass only one cabin on the way into the driveway for the bungalow. Concerning the wifi, there is a standard custom code created for the it, however instructions are also supplied in the cabin details provided that if for example a power outage happens, the DSL unit resets to the standard wifi pass code that comes with the unit. It is a series of letters and numbers on the bottom of the unit. There is also a local number provided for a neighbor caretaker who can come help you with anything you need during your stay to make it most enjoyable.

Should not be renting this to anyone! Dump!

  • 1 of 5

We've been going to the mountains for 15 years, and have stayed in all different types of rentals. This was a dump that the owner has no right renting. Cabin wayyy out in the woods with questionable roads. Cabin is in complete disrepair- broken, filthy furniture in and outside, not to mention all the broken down junk that instead of throwing away, they piled it up outside right next to where you're supposed to sit next to Creek. Lovely! Kitchen terrible- few cooking utensils, pans awful, few dishes- all of which you need way out there. Doors and locks difficult to open and close, except for 1 on bed, no other blankets. Stove old and in unacceptable working order. The whole place hasn't seen a good cleaning let alone any maintenance in years. Luckily we are adaptable and enjoyed our week despite the terrible accommodations. Trust me on this- look elsewhere, otherwise you'll be looking the second you lay eyes on this place. Shame on the owner for taking my money without divulging the state of the property.Oh yeah, and a broken grill in case you plan to cook out.

Private

  • 3 of 5

The cabin is pretty nice, especially the screened in porch overlooking the river. It would have been nice to enjoy except for the fact that it rained the whole time we were there. It's very remote - at the end of a dirt road in the middle of the mountains. If you like privacy this is the place for you.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and I hope you can return when the weather is sunny and beautiful. I actually enjoy sitting on the back porch when it rains there as the creek really roars! Also there are so many beautiful waterfalls nearby to explore that are at their peak during and right after rains. Tellico is the land of the creeks, rivers and waterfalls.

Great escape!

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time at the Creekside Bungalow! The location is secluded, but close enough to Tellico Plains and Cherokee National Forest that getting out and about is easy. Jennifer was kind, accommodating, and easy to work with. My only complaint is that the wifi is shared with her lodge property next door, so the signal is difficult if not impossible to pick up inside the bungalow. I think this could be remedied with a signal booster or additional router, but I don't know the specifics of the area. Overall though, great trip! We will definitely consider staying here again.

Beautiful and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much and found the property to be exactly as described. There was a beautiful dusting of snow our first night there ... the first day of spring. The fireplace was wonderful and the screened in porch above the creek a great place to be when it warmed up a bit. There are many gorgeous creeks and rivers in the area that provide many opportunities for first time paddlers and challenges for experienced ones. Our favorite short hike was to Fall Branch Falls off of the Cherohala Skyway.

We had a wonderful time and would love to rent this property again in the summer.
