  • Beautiful setting/Noisy Cabin

"My family, including my parents, rented this cabin for a week in May. It was located in a wooded area, but not far from local amenities. We chose this cabin because it was about half way from several things that we wanted to do while in the area. We rode 4 wheelers in Oliver Springs (45 mins away) and went to the Smoky Mountain National Park (a little over an hour away). The cabin is set back from the road in the trees and feels secluded. It was extremely clean and the decor was cute. My boys enjoyed roasting marshmallows in the fire pit and I enjoyed that there was a bed for everyone. As much as we enjoyed the cabin there were a few cons. The two major cons was the bed in the loft upstairs and the lack of insulation between the upstairs and main level. The bed in the upstairs loft needed to be replaced about five years ago. It was so bad that I made my boys take turns sleeping upstairs and my husband and I slept in the bunk room (which had great mattresses) with my other son. The other major con was that the people in the bedroom on the main floor could hear every word that was said in the loft bedroom upstairs, talking in normal voices. They could also hear every time the person who slept in the loft rolled over in bed. Not sure this is a problem that can be fixed. An area rug may absorb some sound. Minor problems: It would be nice if some of the decorations in the kitchen were removed making room for groceries that are brought. We ate every meal there except for two. We ended up using the closet in the main bedroom as a pantry. Also there is nothing to store leftovers in, ie Tupperware. I was surprised that we were not supplied with trash bags, and the bungee cord on the outdoor trashcan did not keep the "critters" out. They were quite polite though, they prided the lid off, ate what they wanted and left, without a mess. Overall, we enjoyed our stay there. The mountains were beautiful and a must see in Tennessee!"

  • All the comforts of home in the middle of the city

"Brought the family to Knoxville for our annual UT football game. This time we were lucky enough to catch a men's basketball game as well. From the moment we stepped inside the loft we felt at home. The owners have thought of everything - comfortable beds, soft towels, a stocked kitchen and beautiful views (with fun people watching from the window too). We caught the trolley from Barley's to the game - $6 round trip for each person! On the way back from the game we actually rode the trolley to Market Square to do some shopping. It was an easy downhill walk back to the loft. Several great restaurants to choose from nearby - highly recommend Lonesome Dove but get a reservation. Building is secure with keypad entry and there is free parking. Thanks for a fabulous weekend."
