Why Walter Albert chose California

This property has been in our family for quite some time. If you're looking for a quiet place off the beaten path in the mountains of Northern California, this is the spot for you.

Guestbook comments from the owner

When we first made reservations for the yellow house, we had no idea how fabulous our stay would be. Since our first stay, we have returned three times; again will be returning in September. There are no negatives for renting this lovely, comfortable, immaculate cabin (we have also stayed in the smaller unit: another exceptionally nice experience.) Both units are stocked with all your needs (except for food, actually, coffee and tea are provided.)

On another positive note; when you rent from Helga and Walter, the duck pond is an added attraction with entertainment from the ducks, squirrels, and wandering deer. Relaxing in provided lawn chairs, you may view the mountain snow peaks and beautiful open meadow. The place is surrounded by interesting and enjoyable wildlife.

In addition, near by fishing and deer hunting is great. We will continue to come back year after year.

Helga and Walter are the greatest hosts you could ever find. We consider them both our family; full of cheerful spirit and warm hearts.

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

What a charming cabin for our visit to Lassen. Each day we hiked in the park and looked forward to coming back to the cabin for a relaxing evening. We grilled, sat outside and enjoyed our stay. Clean and comfortable! Helga is a great hostess and if we return to the area will hopefully be able to come back to the cabin.

Very friendly owner! The rooms were clean and comfortable. The owner permitted us to have a family ice cream social. I will definently return to this home.

Had a great time

  • 5 of 5

We stayed over the Easter Holiday and the owner was sweet enough to have an egg hunt for our two year old ready Sunday morning. It was a very comfortable stay for our family. The kitchen was well stocked with all of the necessary cooking utensils and pans. The rooms were clean and the bathrooms were stocked with extra toiletries in case we forgot anything. It was snowing on Sunday but our rooms stayed very comfortable with the heaters, our 4 month old and 2 year old were never cold and slept great. We had a private deck just off of the main bedroom with a great view of the pond. We only rented the main house, not the mother-in-law suite, but we did get a chance to look at the extra space and it was very comfortable as well. We will definitely be staying again. Helga was a wonderful host and welcomed us like family.

The Very Comfortable Yellow Cabin

  • 4 of 5

Great for a girlfriends getaway! The Yellow Cabin was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. It overlooks a lovely meadow and Helga, our host, was delightful. This was a good home base for hiking in the park and exploring around Chester and Lake Almanor.

Thank you Helga!
