We enjoy the great outdoors and adventure. All our lives we have looked forward to travel, resort vacations, and outdoor fun. We especially like a cabin on a lake. It's not only having the option of recreation, it's also that peaceful setting to charge and re-charge your life. We enjoy customer service and we hope we can help you enjoy your next adventure at Lake Almanor!
Clint & Karen Koble purchased this cabin in 2013
We chose this property because it has everything! It has a great location on the north shore of the Peninsula of Lake Almanor that allows it to get a lot of sun and great views of the lake. Because it is located in Big Cove, it is sheltered from the wind and it provides easy access in and out of the marina.
Our Cabin #12 is also part of a quiet resort that has many additional facilities such as a picnic area, boat launch, boat slips, fire pit, fish cleaning station etc.
While the cabin is located in a quiet, lakeside setting, it is also near the town of Chester that has many amenities including a hospital.
Cabin #12 is only two hours from our home in Reno that allows us to use it ourselves quite often. There are no high passes to cross in the winter time, allowing us to get there in summer and winter.
Lake Almanor is a beautiful lake that is not as commercialized or crowded as other lakes in Northern Nevada and California. The lake is a pretty blue and many of its sunrises and sunsets are to die for! It has four great seasons and does not have extremes that are difficult to contend with.
What is not to like about this property?
We feel there are three major reasons why Cabin #12 is unique for a great stay:
1. COMFORT: We put king and queen size 'pillow-top' mattresses on the beds in the bedrooms. We know how difficult it can be to sleep in discomfort when away from home. With our stays averaging between 3 days and two weeks, we wanted to make sure our guests feel comfortable, day and night.
We also put in a large dining room table with padded chairs to make people comfortable while eating or playing cards and games. We added a comfortable leather chair in addition to the couch and other chairs.
2. CONVENIENCE: Cabin #12 is located across the street from the Red Onion restaurant and bar and the Peninsula Market that has an award winning deli and coffee shop. You can cook on the gas grill on the lake view deck or buy breakfast at the Market Deli or have a great dinner and drink at the Red Onion. They are both within easy walking distance of the cabin.
Having a free boat launch and slip during your stay makes lake activities convenient for you. Everything you need is within a short walk. If you need more, the town of Chester is less than 8 miles away and Mt. Lassen Volcanic National Park is only 35 miles away. There are many many adventures waiting for you within minutes!
3. CONNECTION: Like many places, we offer free wifi. We also offer an office desk and wireless printer to catch up on a few minutes of work while you're enjoying your adventures! For evening relaxation, we installed a 48 inch flat screen Smart TV along with a DVD Blue Ray Player and Apple TV. We know how important it is to be connected these days and we have tried to accommodate your needs away from home.
Karen and Clint were very friendly and accommodative. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. The view was great and the cabin had all the comforts for a hot or cold day. We enjoyed our stay.
Clint and Karen are wonderful hosts - going above and beyond to make a comfortable stay. They were staying at an adjacent cabin and made sure that we were comfortable and immediately addressed an issue with the internet connection. The cabin looks like it was updated recently. The kitchen has everything you need (although I missed having a dishwasher). The family room furniture was comfy and the TV was good (in addition to cable, there appeared to be netflix although I didn't try it). The master bedroom was very large and the bed was comfy. There is a nice deck off the master bedroom with a great view of the lake. Clint and Karen had put up rope lights on the deck for nice ambiance in the evening. The bathroom is tiny, but the space works well - the shower, although small, has surprising room as it is angled from the corner. I don't like small showers, yet I was pleasantly surprised by this shower - it even has a little "foot prop" for ladies to shave our legs. Best of all, the cabin is pet friendly, yet no evidence of prior pets (no dog hair on the carpet/furniture, etc).
The area was perfect for us. There is a great market just across the street. For those visiting in October or later, be aware that many restaurants close in/around Oct 1st for the winter. This was not an issue for us as the market had great prepared food and the few restaurants that remained open nearby were very good (Red Onion and Tantardino's). Also, the boat rentals stop at about that time and the docks were pulled in late Oct. This was a little disappointment for us, but the area has so much great hiking that we still had a wonderful time. We will be back to visit in the spring!
First, I'd like to thank the owners for their courtesy as we communicated via email at the time of booking and even throughout prior to our arrival. The weather was a little nasty with rain and some high gusty winds, so I was a bit nervous about a possible power outage prior to our arrival, but everything was fine! This cabin offered us a cozy place to hang out, and it was very clean and comfortable! We'd like to visit again, but probably when the weather is nicer so we can enjoy the outside space! It was fun to see the lake through the windows and because of the weather we actually felt like we were at the coast because of all the white caps!!! The Red Onion (restaurant/bar) and the market across the road were an added bonus... friendly people everywhere!! Can't wait to stay another time!
It would have been helpful to know more about the restaurants in Lake Almanor. At this time of year, most were closed and we had to go into Chester, so it would have been nice to know a little about the restaurants in Chester. Over all, we had a great time. Thank you.
My husband, I and our little dog thoroughly enjoyed our stay at cabin 12. The view from the deck of the lake and cove is fantastic. My husband appreciated the big gas BBQ, I enjoyed the comfy bed and our little dog liked the small fenced in yard. We would definitely stay here again.
The cabin is right on the water near the boat ramp and dock. Very clean and the furnishings and beds were very comfortable. With good wifi and Netflix the cabin has all the comforts of home. We enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely return.
Several dining options nearby include nice restaurants, delis, coffee shops, & fast food. Mount Lassen Volcanic National Park is only 35 miles away. There are three golf courses in the area. Lake Almanor offers boating and fishing activities. Boat, kayak, jet ski, paddle board and canoe rentals are available in the cove. Enjoy miles of bike paths and mountain biking trails. Cabin #12 is located in Almanor Lakeside Resort with private lawn and picnic area. Stay includes free boat launch and boat slip.
