About Clint & Karen Koble

We enjoy the great outdoors and adventure. All our lives we have looked forward to travel, resort vacations, and outdoor fun. We especially like a cabin on a lake. It's not only having the option of recreation, it's also that peaceful setting to charge and re-charge your life. We enjoy customer service and we hope we can help you enjoy your next adventure at Lake Almanor!

Clint & Karen Koble purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Clint & Karen Koble chose Lake Almanor West

We chose this property because it has everything! It has a great location on the north shore of the Peninsula of Lake Almanor that allows it to get a lot of sun and great views of the lake. Because it is located in Big Cove, it is sheltered from the wind and it provides easy access in and out of the marina.

Our Cabin #12 is also part of a quiet resort that has many additional facilities such as a picnic area, boat launch, boat slips, fire pit, fish cleaning station etc.

While the cabin is located in a quiet, lakeside setting, it is also near the town of Chester that has many amenities including a hospital.

Cabin #12 is only two hours from our home in Reno that allows us to use it ourselves quite often. There are no high passes to cross in the winter time, allowing us to get there in summer and winter.

Lake Almanor is a beautiful lake that is not as commercialized or crowded as other lakes in Northern Nevada and California. The lake is a pretty blue and many of its sunrises and sunsets are to die for! It has four great seasons and does not have extremes that are difficult to contend with.

What is not to like about this property?

What makes this cabin unique

We feel there are three major reasons why Cabin #12 is unique for a great stay:

1. COMFORT: We put king and queen size 'pillow-top' mattresses on the beds in the bedrooms. We know how difficult it can be to sleep in discomfort when away from home. With our stays averaging between 3 days and two weeks, we wanted to make sure our guests feel comfortable, day and night.

We also put in a large dining room table with padded chairs to make people comfortable while eating or playing cards and games. We added a comfortable leather chair in addition to the couch and other chairs.

2. CONVENIENCE: Cabin #12 is located across the street from the Red Onion restaurant and bar and the Peninsula Market that has an award winning deli and coffee shop. You can cook on the gas grill on the lake view deck or buy breakfast at the Market Deli or have a great dinner and drink at the Red Onion. They are both within easy walking distance of the cabin.

Having a free boat launch and slip during your stay makes lake activities convenient for you. Everything you need is within a short walk. If you need more, the town of Chester is less than 8 miles away and Mt. Lassen Volcanic National Park is only 35 miles away. There are many many adventures waiting for you within minutes!

3. CONNECTION: Like many places, we offer free wifi. We also offer an office desk and wireless printer to catch up on a few minutes of work while you're enjoying your adventures! For evening relaxation, we installed a 48 inch flat screen Smart TV along with a DVD Blue Ray Player and Apple TV. We know how important it is to be connected these days and we have tried to accommodate your needs away from home.

Exceeded Our Expectations

  • 5 of 5

A very nice cabin that defies the square footage. This is a very clean and quaint cottage with a charming porch in the front and a great patio in the back. Yes, the bed IS a bit on the soft side but we got over it because everything else was perfect. The boat dock was very convenient but the fishing was a bit slow due to the full moon. We caught 6 fish in two solid days on the water though. Luciano's, the local Italian restaurant, was excellent and we found the owners to be quite charming as well. We went there twice. We stayed for 7 days and were the only guests there for 5 of them. It was weird being alone there ... Kind of nice.

We will be back!

Very cozy

  • 5 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very clean and cozy. Kitchen has everything you need for meals and restaurants were close by also. My husband loved the convenience of the boat slip. It was very quiet this time of the year but in the summer there would be a lot of activity.

Lovely cottage and very pleasant stay

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I stayed for a week this August and really enjoyed our stay in cottage 12. The place is actually more charming in reality than pictured. Not large but very comfortable with no wasted space. The view from the patio is a delight, we had breakfast and diner out there every day. Even though there are 2 or 3 marinas located in the cove, it is surprisingly quiet and peaceful. It's a great base to explore the area, like Lassen Volcanic National Park for example. Our only critic is about the bed, which is extremely soft, we slept badly. However the linens were new, good quality and very soft. Plenty of towels were provided, of good quality as well. The place is clean, well kept and very comfortable. I just wish there would be a view from inside the cabin apart from the kitchen windows. Unfortunately the TV is located in front of the living room window. In any case, we truly enjoyed our stay there. Beautiful Lake Almanor was a new discovery to us and we absolutely loved the warm, low kee atmosphere and the friendly people.

Thank you for a wonderful place to stay! You can't beat sitting on the deck looking out at the lake for happy hour. The boat slip is right there. Thank you for helping make our family vacation amazing!
