About Natalie

Thanks for considering our beach cottage on Alamitos Bay in Long Beach, California. We like a little water and a little sand between our toes. Or a little stroll on the historic wooden boardwalk at sunset. This is just the place for both! Alamitos Bay has long been a tranquil refuge - with a sense of community that you won't find in other towns. Come and see for yourself - in the most unlikely place - you'll find Harmony.

Natalie purchased this house in 1989

Why Natalie chose Peninsula

Long Beach is not only its own City, but it's close to both Orange County and Los Angeles County attractions, sites, and destinations. Being right in the middle of things - that's why we're here! We hope you'll want to be here too.

What makes this house unique

Situated between the bay and the beach, this 1940's shingled beach cottage for two is tucked away from the every day. Have coffee on the deck, or meander out to the bay and take in a magnificent sunrise while planning the rest of your day. In the evening, grab your running shoes, or a glass of spirits and head out to the boardwalk to watch the sun set over the ocean and the Palos Verdes Peninsula. For dinner, visit Belmont Shore and 2nd Street - just a short stroll away - or stay home and cook in a fully appointed kitchen - or BBQ if you like, instead. Set up your computer and work, or set up your sewing machine and quilt. Or just come and 'set' a you choose, you'll choose to return again and again.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I have to say, you have made my stay here truly feel like home. And for that I will be forever grateful!!

My stay here by Alamitos Bay has been a nice retreat, especially with all the other crazy things going on.

I've loved the beautiful and peaceful surroundings and cozy neighborhood feeling here. I wish I could stay longer, but since it's time to move forward in my life, just know that I will continue to be in touch, and might even stop by for some avocados from time to time!! (smile)

Thanks again for your amazing hospitality and for making me feel so comfortable while here as a traveling nurse.

PS - thanks to Buddy as well for always greeting me!!

Perfect for travel nurses!

  • 5 of 5

The Beach Cottage was a perfect refuge from a busy day of work! It's so comfy and homey, and Ms. Natalie makes one feel so welcome and at home. The location is great, with the beach to one side and the bay on the other. I went paddle boarding for the first time on the bay, and took many sunset strolls on the beach. There are tons of great restaurants in the area, and it was easy to get to and from work. I highly recommend!

Our Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

The Beach Cottage on The Peninsula is the perfect place to stay if you want a place that feels like home! My husband and I have stayed here 3 years in a row, for 30 days each visit. It is in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood and in a perfect location just steps from the bay and the ocean. It is centrally located for sightseeing in Southern California. Natalie went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. This charming cottage is private and has all the amenities that you could ask for, including everything you need for trips to the beach. It is within walking distance to the pedestrian and bike path which leads to downtown Long Beach. Also, very convenient to Belmont Shore's 2nd Street restaurants and shopping.

The Perfect Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Beach Cottage has everything we needed for a wonderful Christmas at the Beach. Our hosts even provided a tree with decorations and had more than the usual amenities awaiting us. Quiet, secure, just plain perfect in every way, Beach Cottage was the perfect place to unwind, relax and cuddle up on cold nights. Walks along Alamitos Bay, the holiday lights and floating Christmas trees reflected in the water were the icing on the cake. We look forward to our next sojourn to the Long Beach Peninsula and a stay at the Beach Cottage.

I'm missing the Beach Cottage already

  • 5 of 5

I had stayed at the Beach Cottage for thirty two days after selling my old place, and before moving into my new place. I've been around the Belmont Shore area for a long time. But Peninsula is really a find for me. It was so peaceful and people there were so friendly. I fell in love with the neighborhood immediately. The ~2-mi beach walks were amazing beautiful and quiet. On the Bay side you could see all the beautiful homes at Naples island, or on the Pacific side you could witness the sunset over Palos Verdes Peninsula. The pancakes at Peninsula were the best I've ever had.

Most importantly, Natalie is a guninely nice person you would love to spend time with. Natalie made me feel like home immediately. The cottage was beautiful and cozy. It's furnished with everything you can think of and you'll ever need. Sitting on your own deck after work and having a beer was like heaven. I had my friends over and they absolutely love it.

Many many thanks, Natalie. Best wishes to you and Buddy.

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay--it was perfect in every way--just as described. We walked the bay or the beach every day--usually 2 or 3 times, watched lovely sunsets (and too few sunrises), talked with friendly neighbors, and found the local cafe a few blocks away. The house was well appointed and if we needed anything, Natalie was right there to help us. The best part is that I was able to host my large Long Beach-based family for several dinners for the first time in nearly 40 years. This house was perfect and I would without reservation recommend it again and again. We are already planning our next stay. Thank you so much! Judith and Jim

Great Place, Great Location, All the Touches

  • 5 of 5

This is the second stay for my wife and me to the "Cottage By the Sea" and found the first visit / stay only exceeded by the second. In addition to being a great location, for getting anywhere in Long Beach, you will be only steps away from the Ocean or the inlet if you head in the other direction.

Natalie takes great care to ensure all the little nice touches are in place (for instance flavored coffee creamer) to help you enjoy your stay.

All in all we have absolutely no hesitation in providing a 5 STAR recommendation.
