Condo -1 Blk to Beach, 2 blk to town! 3 BR/2 BA in Coco!

Bedrooms 3
Property type condo
Minimum Stay 5 nights

About the property

Condo, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Thank you for coming to check out our condo in Playas Del Coco that we have available for rent! This is a 3-bedroom, 2-bath condo that is only one block to the beach and a short walk to the main street where there are many restaurants, bars and shops to visit. We chose this place because it is a short drive of only 20 minutes from the Liberia airport. Our condo is so close to everything in Coco that there is no need to rent a car and the taxi is only $2.00 to just about anywhere in the Coco area if you don't want to walk.

Sombras is the name of our condo. There are only 26 units and they all have 2 or 3 bedrooms and we have two beautiful pools. Our unit is on the ground floor so there are no stairs to worry about. Even though the entire Coco area is very safe, our condo does have a 24-hour guard at the front entrance of this gated community. You have to check in at the front gate to gain access.

We've posted a few pictures but we will have more to show you soon. Since it is new it has been professionally decorated and furnished so you will have all items you need while you are enjoying your stay! We hope that you enjoy it so much you tell your friends and want to come back again next year!

Stay back and lounge by one of the two pools in our condo or take a short walk or a $2.00 taxi to downtown Coco, its all at your fingertips!

About Julie Sager

Here we are having a delicious dinner and cocktails in Coco!

Hello - we are the owners, Ron and Julie, and we live in Ham Lake, Minnesota. We plan to be Snowbirds when we retire and we will be spending the long cold Minnesota winters down in beautiful Coco in our condo. Until then, we will be renting out our condo so please enjoy!

We have been looking for that perfect place. We went to Costa Rica to visit and loved everything it had to offer, so we decided to make it our own. This place has everything we were looking for with the best location by far! There is so much to do or you can just take a short walk to the beach and do absolutely nothing. This is a limited time offer because as soon as we can, we will be staying there. Anyone else tired of cold winters?

Julie Sager purchased this condo in 2009

Why Julie Sager chose Costa Rica

When you just can't wait to get there who wants to drive a long distance from the airport to get to your final destination? Not us! Our condo is a short 20-minute drive from the airport in Liberia. We are one block to the beach and one block to the main part of town where you will find the restaurants, shops and night life in Coco. You can golf, scuba dive, snorkel, sail, rent a jetski or go sport fishing. . . all right within Coco. Coco has a horseshoe shaped bay so it is a great place to have some fun!

What makes this condo unique

We wanted to be on the main floor so we could sit on our patio and jump in the pool when we wanted to, without having to go down any stairs or manuever any hallways. We wanted to also be as close to the beach as possible so we could take a stroll or bring a blanket and stay awhile. Location was very important to us and this place has the best of it all! If you need to get some groceries, pick up something at the pharmacy or just want to get a bite to eat, everything is within walking distance or it's only a $2.oo cab ride to get there.

Amazing property!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 8 days at this property and found it very difficult to leave. Not sure where to start - the unit was likely the best overall that I have ever rented. Clean, well maintained, safe and close to all amenities. Other tenants confirmed our findings and had many pleasant conversations with them that led us to some fantastic restaurants and sites in Playa del Coco. Owners of this unit were very helpful with the booking and planning of our transport and check in. Can't say enough good things about Julie and Ron's property! Think about this place daily and when I can get my family and fellow divers back there. Hola amigos!

The location is great people are friendly

  • 4 of 5

we had 3 bedrooms which worked out well the only problem I found was there was no instruction for the outdoor grill, which we used for 5 dinners, the propane was out the first night as well as the igniter, but that was taking care of my the property mgr. Have Julie replace the potato peeler there was no salt and pepper, , You should bring your own soap and toilet paper, I also notice the security safe was not fastened, which can easy be carried out, since it was small and portable. we left some laundry detergent behind, there was some under the sink which I discovered on the the 3day, only enough for one load of laundry. Don’t leave the screen door open while cooking at night , the inside light attract some nasty flies. I felt secure staying here, 8 ‘ walls surround the property,

Great place for the whole family!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, daughters (ages 2&4) my in laws and I stayed in this condo from 12/15-12/26. It is such a great place to stay. It is so quiet and we pretty much had the pool to ourselves for most of our stay. The beach and downtown is within walking distance even for our young children. The condo is stocked with everything you may need for your stay. My overall favorite thing about staying in this condo was being able to wake up to the sound of Howler Monkey's. Even though we were in the city area, we still were able to see the wildlife that we hoped to when visiting Costa Rica. I would highly recommend anyone planning to visit Coco to stay in this condo!

WOW! Beyond our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I stayed at the condo for nearly the entire month of August (Aug 2 - 25). It was amazing!! The condo is located within a short walk of downtown Coco, but you feel like you are in a private sanctuary with all the pools and mature trees. The beach is only one block straight ahead, you can even hear the waves early in the morning. Incredible location! The security is top-notch, they were extremely attentive to make sure nobody entered the complex without authority. While at the same time, the security staff was very friendly to the people staying in the condos. This condo exceeded our expectations at every level: fantastic furnishings, super clean, air conditioning, washer and dryer, two bathrooms (major plus!), three bedrooms (even though we only used two), and being on the first floor was super handy! The owners were extremely enjoyable to work with while arranging our stay. We highly recommend renting this condo if you want a fantastic stay!

Costa Rica Fun!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of seven, stayed for the week over New Years 2016. It was fabulous! It was our first time to Costa Rica and we absolutely loved Playas del Coco!

The condo was wonderful, everything you could ask for and more. Spacious rooms and living areas, kitchen, washer/dryer, a/c, patio with grill, pools, gated secure complex and super nice and friendly neighbors and staff. You'll want to bring a few toiletry items, like tp, paper towels, napkins and laundry soap but everthing else is there. We brought our own beach towels but there were some there also. We loved it!

We were so comfortable there and everyone was so nice.

The short walk to the beach was great, you were there in two minutes and the mini mart was very handy. There are so many restaurants it's hard to know which are best, I'd just give them a try. We liked Cafe de Playa and Tiki Coco. There are plenty of shops to get your souvenirs and numerous tour operators for whatever you're looking for.

We booked the catamaran tour on the Visions boat which was really handy getting on right at the beach. The boat ride, free drinks, snorkeling and sunset were amazing. The buffet was so so and I'd recommend getting in line right away as the food does run out. Overall a fun activity though. We also enjoyed the drive out to Volcan Arenal, though it does take a few hours and is very, very narrow and windy roads. Lots of great hiking and restaurants to stop along the way. Our most fun adventure was the Canon de la Vieja Adventure tours. We did a full day combo that included awesome zip lining, rock wall rapelling (not for everyone-it's hard!), horse back riding, whitewater tube rafting (do the tubes not the kayaks- way more fun), an amazing buffet lunch- the food was superperb, fresh and plentiful, and finished up with a sauna, body mud mask, jump in the river and then relaxing hot spring soak. It's right outside Liberia, so not far to travel. If you have a car, drive yourself, it will save you up to $50 a person.

We loved hanging out at the beach and swimming in the pools. The beach is a pretty black sand and swimming is just lovely. A nice sandy bottom, no weeds or sharp edges. The pools were great and so nice to have right outside your patio door. We loved it!

Julie and Ron are great and we definitely recomend their condo! We plan to return and have family members interested as well, you won't be disappointed!

The O's.

Easy to live.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the unit for 11 weeks from Jan to Mar as our first year of retirement. You can't beat the weather. Only 1 day that was overcast. NO rain. If you want a sunny, hot spot then this is the place. By late March it was getting hot. Low of 82 and high of 95 virtually every day. The patio having shade from late morning was a super feature. For sun all you needed as ten steps to the pool and a cool down.

As there are only a few units with two pools there was never a problem getting one of the lounges. They are great to look at and shaped nicely but an airmattress makes them much more comfortable. The neighbours were great and we made some long lasting friendships. (bringing a jug of Caesars or margaritas out to share at happy hour helps:)). Very peaceful.

The unit had most everything you need. We cooked most meals and had Marylyn the "fish lady" come to the back gate once a week with fresh shrimp, maui maui and tilapia. The seafood is awesome. There is also a great market up by the mall with the Mega supermarket.

As for food shopping there are four large stores that have all you need and more. We also used the fresh vegetable market south of the SuperCompro most days coming back from our walk. The peppers, pineapple, mangos and watermelons is something we miss everyday here at home.

The unit has a very good BBQ but you have to get used to the heat it can give out. I used indirect mostly as there are four burners. There is no electronic lighter (Ron you should maybe install one) so we used matches. I worked out a system but be careful as a couple of people in the complex are missing a few eyebrows:). Use one burner only to start and move the coals around so the match can access the gas quick. The stove is also gas but we used the BBQ virtually everyday so it didn't get much use.

AC worked great as it is in each room. But we only used it at night. Why go to the heat to stay inside in the cold?

One trick we found was to use the big fan out on the patio. It worked great and helped keep any mosquitos away. An outdoor ceiling fan would be a great addition.

All the beds were comfortable and the layout is great for multiple couples. One thing you might bring is an AppleTv. We used it a lot to watch Netflix which worked fine on the WiFi. Only a very few English channels.

The beach is a short walk and we did it most mornings when it was cooler. So a pool at your doorstep and ocean 5 min away. What else do you need.
