It is the perfect home base for exploring Costa Rica as it is the closest beach resort to the capital city of San Jose and its international airport. Jaco nests between the Pacific Ocean and the tropical rain forests of the central Pacific coast.

Exploring Costa Rica, choose from a broad range of nearby activities, including surfing, sailing, yachting, jungle trekking, as well as island cruising, diving, snorkeling, and bird watching.
We would also recommend canopy zip-line tours, where you explore the jungle from treetops and enjoy spectacular views of the beach as well as ATV Tours, where you hit the beach, go through the forests and up into the mountains. If you are a fan of surfing, we recommend going to Jaco Beach or Hermosa Beach, located just 5 miles south of Jaco – both are famous for the most consistent surfing waves. If you are interested in volcano tours, try day or overnight trips to Costa Rica's most active volcano, Arenal Volcano. Day trips to Tortuga Island offer excellent snorkeling where you encounter a great number of colorful tropical fish, enjoy barbeque meal on a beach with chilled white wine and live music.
