About Gordon G. Knott

My wife Toni & I have been vacationing in Sayulita every year for twenty + years. We are in love with this quaint little Mexican town. It has been our quiet getaway spot. A few years ago we decided to build a house there with the hope that as we get older we could spend more time there. After having spent many years renting different homes there, we had a good idea of what we wanted in a vacation home. As a contractor who has built over 200 homes in my lifetime, I put a lot of thought into building this home. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Gordon G. Knott purchased this villa in 2005

Why Gordon G. Knott chose Nayarit

Sayulita is a small, quaint safe village just outside Puerta Vallarta, Mexico. Sayulita and Casa Azul give vacationers a variety of opportunities to enjoy time away: relax by the pool, take a surfing lesson, enjoy Mexican cuisine, stretch with a yoga session, benefit from a soothing massage, or dart into town for shopping. Sayulita and Casa Azul offer a little of everything for almost any vacation itinerary or budget.

What makes this villa unique

Casa Azul's pool and palapa remind you why you love a relaxing Mexican vacation. The garden and balconies with ocean views bring fresh air and ocean breezes that make relaxing easy and enjoyable. For the summer months, the A/C and fans in the bedrooms also help give you a good night's rest.

Great location! Near the beach but away from the noise. Short walk to town. The salt water pool is perfect.

Beautiful, convenient and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful place! We stayed at Casa Azul for a week in June 2017. It was my husband, my two yr old son, my teenage daughter, my mother and her husband. The house is just lovely with plenty of room for everyone to have privacy and gather together in the spacious kitchen/living room or around the pool areas. The gardens in and outside the house are really beautifully manicured. The rooms each have very efficient ac so you can cool off when it's hot out. Maria cares for the house and pool areas and is such a sweet woman. She really worked hard to make us comfortable and was a delight to be around. Gordon the owner and Jorge the manager were great in communicating with us every step of the way and helped to accommodate us on every level. I had even forgotten a $100 dollar bill in the house and they managed to credit it back to me through PayPal!

The location was perfect for walking into the town square within 5-10 minutes(without the toddler 😉)or to the far north end of the beach within 10 minutes. The beach is only a quick 2 min walk too.

The house felt very private and secure. We spent many hours just enjoying being there, cooking/eating in the lovely kitchen, swimming in the clean saltwater pool and dining on the terrace. The upstairs balcony provides a lovely view of the town and ocean. The beds were super comfy and all the linens and towels were clean. The couches in the living room were also very clean and comfy. The pool was equipped with floaties, a toddler life vest, small boogie boards, snorkel & masks, sand toys, towels and more! The kitchen had just about everything you would need too! They provide drinking water in a dispenser, a blender, lovely margarita necessities and much more. The wifi worked great and the CD player has an aux cord so you can play pandora from your devices. The living room area was very comfy and roomy and they provide cards/board games for those rainy days.

If you plan to go to Sayulita, stay at Casa Azul! It's a much more authentic, pleasant experience than a hotel setting. You can walk down to the local outdoor markets for fresh ingredients and make your own great meals at home, hire Maria to cook a lovely dinner or stroll down to a delicious dinner in one of the many great restaurants in town. If you prefer not to walk, rent a golf cart or car and park in your own garage at Casa Azul.

We will definitely stay in the lovely Casa Azul again sometime!

absolute paradise!

  • 5 of 5

This vacation house surpassed our expectations. It was perfect for our family of 5 and so beautiful. The outdoor shower was fantastic and relaxing in the backyard or on one of the patios was as good as it gets. We enjoyed everything about it including the location. Just a quick walk to the beach and also to many great restaurants and shops.

Wonderful family vacation in Sayulita!

  • 5 of 5

Our family decided to meet in Sayulita, Nayarit Mexico for a week vacation. Our stay at CASA AZUL exceeded our expectations. The home is beautiful, spacious, and in a great location. Jorge the property manager greeted us after we arrived and reviewed everything we needed to know about the home and the town Sayulita. Sarah the housekeeper / garden manager and her son and daughter maintained the home daily and were very polite and friendly. We used for transportation from and to the airport; the service was excellent and we stopped at the Mega Store on the way to get some groceries for the week. The beach was a short walk from the rental home and we enjoyed our days at the beach tremendously. The beach past the graveyard was especially nice because it was in a cove setting with very small waves which made it very nice for swimming. We enjoyed so many restaurants in Sayulita. I had the best shrimp dinners I have ever had many of the nights during the week. Of course the margaritas are great on the beach and at restaurants. Visit Galeria Tanana for art etc. made by the local Huichol Mexican tribe and enjoy the fabulous breakfast at the adjacent restaurant. The store and the restaurant are operated by Susana Valdez and both are exceptional.

We throughly enjoyed our time at CASA AZUL in Sayulita. We hope to come back in the future for another wonderful stay.

One piece of advice: Most establishments do not accept credit cards so the smart thing to do is to get the pesos you will need for your entire stay from the ATM machines at the airport (safe and better exchange rate).

Perfect Place to Stay in Sayulita

  • 5 of 5

If you like the pictures you'll love this place. The house and grounds are even nicer than the pictures. Sarah keeps everything immaculate. 3 blocks from the main part of town so nice and quiet, yet a five minute nice stroll to town. Lots of excellent restaurants within a block or two. Easy access to the beach. Pretty big waves at the beach right by the house. Most surfing, boogie boarding, and swimming are done at the beach in town. The smallest waves are at the opposite end of town (still just a 10 minute walk - we did it with a three and seven year old with no complaints. Take the chairs and umbrella from the house. We ate at a lot of different places and never had anything less than really really good food and usually exceptional. Most of our meals were at the highest rated Mexican cheap eats on Trip Advisor. All were fabulous. Pizza Venezia - last time I had pizza this good was in Naples. Get a reservation and you'll still wait a long time for your meal, but relax, you're in Mexico. Use the ice chest in the house and bring your own beer.

Mamma Mia's - My wife had gnocchi - It was better than Serrento, Italy. La Rustica also had very good pizza, but not as good as Pizza Venezia. Sayulita is a wonderful little town.

Beautiful property. Well laid out for privacy. Very good staff. Location close to town and beach.

  • 4 of 5

Unfortunately there was a large festival in town and Monday was a holiday so the beach was full of tents and campers. Also very loud music until late at night Saturday and Sunday. We did not use the beach until the crowds left on Monday. The pool was nice and we had a chef cooking on Sunday so we did not have to deal with the craziness in town. I still like Sayulita but was disappointed with the timing of our visit. Avoid the festival and holiday time if possible. I was looking for a quaint setting which did arrive later in the week but unfortunately effected my friends impression of the area. Gordon's house is very nice

Beautiful, relaxing home in a great location

  • 5 of 5

5 friends and I spent a week in Casa Azul for my 30th birthday and it was a dream. The house was beautiful, the location was great (a short walk to town, about a block and a half to the beach and when staying at the house you don't need a car as you can get anywhere you want to go in Sayuilta on foot) and the private pool was our favorite place to hang out all week. You can also see the ocean and town from the upstairs balcony which was a great place to watch sunsets if you didn't feel like making the trek down to the beach with the rest of the town!! The staff was incredibly helpful and kind as well. The only slight downside to the house is that there isn't AC in the main part of the house (only in the bedrooms as the main part of the house is slightly open with the thatched-type roof) but there were lots fans and it didn't ever get too hot in the house. The lack of AC in parts of the house definitely wasn't a deterrent and we would absolutely stay at Casa Azul again if given the chance.
