As a globe trotting family Eagles Nest was our choice in the world for our family home with Sidney and Victoria the friendly communities we chose to land in; like so many other like minded people. We have updated and equipped Eagles Nest for visitors to allow us to continue to share our wonderful piece of paradise.
Adrian purchased this house in 1990
We love this location for the water, the wildlife (it is on the migratory seabird pathway) the walks along the shore and into town, the nearby marinas and restaurants for a morning breakfast walk... it is one of the most sheltered low bank waterfronts in the area and perfect for kayaking, clamming and just soaking up birds and otters of Roberts Bay.
Pink sunrises silhouette a distant snow capped Mount Baker and glints off duck trails across the mirrored waters of Roberts Bay bird sanctuary. Colorful kayakers launch nearby to explore Gulf Islands National park. Amble along tree lined All Bay road to coffee shops, corner store, massage therapists, fine dining and pubs intermingled with the marinas and yacht charters. Walk a mile or so the other way past the Thai and fish and chip cafe, the Library and Beacon Avenue shops and services.
“What a magical place, we had the most wonderful week staying at Eagles Nest on Roberts Bay. The house is large clean and comfortably furnished and feels like a home. With 3 large sofas in the lounge , 2 comfy chairs in the sun room we had ample room to relax together or apart! We made the most of the extra touches and used the gas barbecue and the guys went out in the kayaks. We had more towels than we could ever use and the kitchen was fully equipped. Thank you Adrian we will never forget our week here.”

This very well appointed home is right on Roberts Bay, which is a short walk from the town center of Sidney BC. It is an incredibly peaceful bay with a beautiful array of birds (including Eagles). The house has 3 bedrooms , a large well equipped kitchen with anything a cook could want and a beautiful dining and living room area that looks over the bay towards the fabulous Mount Baker. There is a cozy enclosed veranda and a side veranda for barbeques. Vacationing in this spot is breathtaking. You wake up to the sunrise on the bay and realize you are able to jump in a kayak and be in the tranquil waters watching the birds float and fly by...
We were very pleased with this property. Very clean and neat with comfortable beds and great pillows! Nice cozy fireplace and sun room facing the ocean. Adrian was so wonderful to deal with...very attentive and kept in touch with several emails to ensure we had all the information we needed and followed up with a phone call. I highly recommend this property to anyone who wants comfort, a beautiful ocean view, and a caring owner. Only one small observation: the kitchen pots and pans, flatware, knives, and BBQ tools all need to be upgraded. But I love cooking so this may not be an issue for others. We would definitely recommend this property! Thanks, Adrian, and all the best! Carole & Don.
This apartment has everything going for it. It has a beach at the back door that is great for exploring, watching the wildlife--we saw Orcas, seals, eagles, herons--or just enjoying from the sunroom or patio (we saw some beautiful sunrises over the water, with Mount Baker in the background).
We had 5 people staying in the apartment comfortably, with 2-3 more for supper, and we all fit around the dining room table! The kitchen was large, and great for preparing meals for 6-8 people. You can walk easily to the downtown (2 km), and there is a great restaurant--Sea Glass Restaurant at the harbour 5 minutes away with unique, great food.
Several of our group rented bikes from Here by Bike several blocks away, and they enjoyed biking to Victoria, and around the Saanich peninsula--there are excellent bike trails and lanes throughout the area.
There is a lot to see and do in the area, and this is a great apartment to use as a home base.
Incredible sunrises! Host is very affable.
Eagles Nest is the perfect place to enjoy the best of Sidney.
While the little town is close by, the rental home feels miles away.
Situated on the scenic and protected Roberts Bay, it is easy to forgo other excursions while captivated by the view of snow-covered Mt. Baker, truly awe-inspiring sunrises if you are an early riser, heron, Canada geese and gulls.
The second floor of this very clean home is spacious and accommodating.
The beds are comfortable. The master has comfy Charisma linens and a much-welcomed down comforter for the chilly evenings. Also a large walk-in closet along with terry robes and slippers gave a relaxing touch.
I would easily and highly recommend this wonderful property with one caveat. The traffic noise on busy Resthaven can be a possible concern for light sleepers. Closing the windows helps.
All in all, just idyllic!
Despite unusual winter weather, we had a wonderful stay at Eagles Nest.
Nothing can compare to enjoying the sunrise over the water, as I am experiencing as I write this review. The sun room was my favorite place with it's comfy chairs and bistro set for enjoying breakfast and lunch. The photos and description on VRBO are what you get. Wonderful!!
The house is well appointed, bed is comfortable and the living room cosy with the easy to use gas fireplace. The walk into town takes about 20 minutes. Here you can find grocery stores, lots of restaurants and coffee shops and interesting bookstores.
Adrian is a great host, always friendly and prompt at replying to any questions we had.
Thank you for a very enjoyable 2 months.
The activities and recreational opportunities in the vicinity are simply too rich to list... in Sidney Town on 5th St there is a visitors information centre with information on wineries, equestrian farms, the Lochside cycle trail to Victoria and the galloping goose cycle path to Sooke and endless other opportunities. (There is a cycle rental place just up the street $28 per day) We will ensure that there a full complement of information brochures for you to peruse.
There are dozens of restaurants in the area and just 5 minutes peaceful walk away there are two 5 star restaurants up All Bay Road as well as a small bakery coffee shop and a convenience store.
The pedestrian friendly location of EaglesNest allows for family members to walk, ride, drive, bus or paddle as they like either together or independently.
Should you wish to travel to Victoria, the bus stops on Resthaven $2.75.. or to the ferry to Vancouver or the Gulf Islands for a day trip in the other direction.
