Our home is, in my opinion, located in the best location in downtown Madison. You can walk out the door to - the river, festivals, bars, restaurants, the Heritage Trail, and more.
You will need your car to get groceries up on the hill (8 min drive) - Kroger and Wal-Mart or to get to Clifty State Park.
Downtown Madison is a great walking town or if you prefer you can rent a golf cart. Getting around is easy. There is also plenty of parking at General's Quarters - street and in the back (2 reserved spots).
This multi-level home features three floors and two sets of stairs. The main level, located a few steps up outside, is on the street level. If any member of your party has difficulty with stairs, we recommend staying in the queen bedrooms downstairs, which offer walkout access to the back.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Everything was clean and well stocked , this was our second visit . One of the better rentals for sure. The ice maker did not work but other than that everything was perfect. Thank you
Beautiful, clean home and well appointed. Our group of 8 was very comfortable whether we were all together on the deck, chatting it up in the living room or playing games around the table.
Great Amenities! The layout was perfect and the house was well stocked. Kitchen and bathrooms had everything we needed. Great location. Minutes away from restaurants and shops.
Perfect location very walkable although it was cold and snowy when we were there so we just drove over to the winery and Lanier mansion. Then going to Main Street we drove up parked and walked to all the stores and restaurants.
We rented both units for a reunion of 8 old high school friends and it was perfect! Beautiful, newly renovated, clean and well stocked! The owner communicated with us during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed and made the check in and check out process very simple. We would all highly recommend this property!
We had a 5 couples get away for one evening and stayed in the house. A great view of the river and perfect location for walks to the shops, Park and restaurants. We plan on staying here again in the future!
Beautiful old home, completely remodeled, clean and well stocked. Great location by the river and close to downtown. We had a great visit and would definitely come back!
Cannot wait to come back and visit this PERFECT property in Madison, IN. We could walk to restaurants in Madison and the property was clean, easy to book, and very welcoming.
We loved the property! It was just as described, clean and beautifully appointed. The location was perfect and close to the antique shops and Main Street shopping. We would absolutely recommend the property and we will come again.

About the host
Hosted by Kelly Rodgers
My husband and I fell in love with Madison after a quick trip back in 2010. It took us another 7 years before we bought and gutted General's Quarters. We are thrilled that we get to share our properties with visitors to experience the magical charm of Madison. Reach out with any questions. We hope you visit soon.
Why they chose this property
We bought this property because of its location - a block from the river, centrally located, and in the heart of the festival action.
What makes this property unique
This building was built in 1830. General Thomas Crittenden lived here with his family before the Civil War. He married a local girl. After the war, he moved to DC and is buried with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law at Arlington Cemetery.
