We loved our stay in Madison! Great location! Very close to River for a morning walk, close enough to downtown to walk to dinner. The home is old and aesthetically very pleasing. We hiked at Clifty Falls and spent time in the hot tub for our sore muscles…the home has everything you need for a lovely stay!
Loved staying here! We brought 2 teenage girls who were easily entertained being close to Main St and shopping. The game room was great, and we all loved the hot tub. The home was so clean and organized. The house is quaint and cozy. We will definitely be back!
Its OK for an Old house. Very cute and detailed, however, if there are any one w any handicaps, this is NOT for you. We had to wash every dish by hand and the entire place could use a general cleaning

Kim, I appreciate you taking the time to leave a review and I greatly value guest feedback.
You are correct that this home is not accessible. That is why I provide detailed descriptions of the primary upstairs bedrooms and the downstairs pass-through bedroom. And the home does not have a dishwasher, which is why there isn’t one listed in the amenities.
However, in response to your comments about the cleanliness, I am frustrated that you didn’t complete the check in protocols and notify me right away of your concern. I assure you that had you reported this upon arrival as instructed in the house manual, I would have immediately sent one of my wonderful cleaning crew.
In 5 years of hosting 16 homes with around 400 reviews averaging a 4.96 rating, you are the first guest to ever report that a house needs cleaning. I admit I am surprised and dismayed. In fact, I had actually cleaned it myself quite thoroughly the first week of September after a group of graduate students stayed for the month of August. But before each and every guest, I insist that my cleaners do a thorough quality control check. I always tell them I don’t even want a guest to find an eyelash in the sink. I tell them clean is not good enough.; it should be spotless and sparkling. I fully recognize it is an old house and the 150-year-old plaster, brick, and mortar shed a ton of dust that is relentless. Still, I regret not having a chance to make it right.
The location was perfect for getting to a wedding venue in Milton KY. The upstairs bedrooms were nice sizes. The bathrooms were small- low toilets without grab bars. Nice sized kitchen. The listing stated 3 bedrooms, but the bunk beds are in more of a pass through- no doors. The steps to front door and upstairs were steeper than expected. Very clean townhouse.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I value guest feedback and strive for an excellent guest experience. Any guest rating less than 5 stars is not satisfactory to my high standards. Still, I feel the need to respond and convey the importance of guests thoroughly reading listing details and photos so they know what to expect. I particularly want to address your comment about the bunk bedroom. The nature of the downstairs bedroom is explained in multiple places in the listing, including the words “pass thru” and “no doors” in the narrative description as well as captions of the bedroom photos from several angles that convey to guests that this bedroom may be best suited for children due to the lack of privacy. I regret that you found the steps and bathrooms inadequate. This is a very old home, and we want to preserve the integrity of the existing spaces and have no plans to remodel. The outside stairs were completely rebuilt and railing added in fall of 2023 for safety reasons, but there was no way to change the grade of the steps with the limited space in front of the home. I do try to provide plenty of photos to show the character of the house with all its glorious quirks, but even so, it’s hard to capture its personality. Thank you for choosing In Bloom Rentals, and I do hope to have an opportunity to extend a 5-star guest experience should you choose to return in the future. Until then, cheers!
I am originally from Austin, Indiana but now reside in Bloomington with my husband, a professor at Indiana University in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, and daughters. I was a public school teacher for many years.
I first got into hosting during the pandemic when I lost my job working with The Arc of Indiana and decided to become my own boss. I needed a great deal of flexibility to provide educational support to my 3 children (at the time--an 8th grader with learning disabilities, a 6th grader with Down syndrome, and a precocious 3rd grader), so it was essential that I be able to take my kids to work with me and set my own hours.
We took out equity in our home to buy a charming 1900s cottage on iconic Kirkwood Ave near IU. It went so well that we sold it as an investment property and I continued to host it.
Now I host a small portfolio of properties in 2 of the most historic cities in Indiana: Bloomington and Madison. I still own 2 properties and host for others. Madison Manor is our dream home. We hope to retire there in one townhouse and rent the other.
