We came to Alaska from Colorado in 1968, Pat & Myrna Cowan with our 4 children and our dog. We now have 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Our work background includes Banking, Insurance and the Golf Industry. We are very active in our Community and our Church and our hobby and business is golf. We love Soldotna and Alaska and could not even think about living anywhere else. All of our children and most of our grandchildren still live in the state of Alaska. Most all of our grandchildren have worked on this property at one time or another.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 1993
We actually designed and built these Cottages in 1992 and at that time we were partners in the property, we later bought out our partners in 1993. For most people, Alaska is not a designation for golf, however once here whether it's for fishing, sight-seeing, bird watching, hunting, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, etc. many people also choose to play golf in the midnight sun or just to say "we played golf in Alaska". If you are staying at one of our facilities, we off 50% off on Greens fees and Rental clubs.
Golf any time of the day including late eveing golf due to the long daylight hours in Alaska, golf practice facilities including Driving Range, Chipping Green and Putting green. Our lounge & snack bar "Pat's Place" featuring Myrna's famous sandwiches, Hot Dogs, beverages of your choice including "Guiness on Tap" and many other snacks. Grilling on our Barbeques on the Cottage Decks while watching golfers play our signature hole # 2 next to the pond in front of the Cottages.
We just spent 11 nights at Birch Ridge and can only say it was wonderful. We are local and needed some temporary lodging during some construction work on our home. Birch Ridge was clean, comfortable, quiet, and had everything you'd need for comfortable living. It would be my recommendation for anyone vacationing in the Soldotna area to consider staying at Birch Ridge. The owners/staff were friendly and very accomodating. We enjoyed sitting on the deck watching golfers hit up to the green our room was adjacent to. Wildlife was abundant and a mother moose with 2 newborn calves hung out right in front of our room. Even though we see moose regularly in Alaska, we watched them for hours. Thanks Again.
