Winter weekend away

  • 4 of 5

Met up with some old friends this weekend and this house accommodated the five of us easily. The house was clean and all instructions were helpful. We had a great weekend.

The lake was frozen and beautiful. We mostly hunkered down in bad weather, but were able to get out for a nice 3 hour hike on the AT which had an entry point only about 10 minutes away in Dalton.

Comfortable and cozy!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed over the New Year Holiday's. The temperatures dropped well below zero at times but we found the home both comfortable and cozy. Neighbors had cleared a skating area on the lake that our kids and others enjoyed. We also found hiking at various areas nearby to be very nice. I could see this being a very appealing stay during the other seasons as it is right on the lake and has kayaks available for use. We did not give it five stars as we were on extended trip and needed to purchase towels, sheets and pillowcases as these are not provided. This wouldn't be a problem for most people. Other than those items, the house was well provisioned and made for a wonderful stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your nice review and we hope to hear from you again. For future reference, for renters traveling by air, for a small fee, we can accommodate providing linens and towels. For renters within driving distance, we prefer they bring their own but would not want it to be a deciding factor so let us know if it is a requirement. Mike

Great place for us to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We were staying here to celebrate Thanksgiving with family in a neighboring town. With 4 bedrooms, it made it possible for our extended family w/ two grandchildren to all be together. It really was lovely to be able to share this space. The living room / dining room, one large space, enabled us to watch the little ones while enjoying our coffee. This back room look out through a porch where you can see the lake. How much fun was it to see the ice forming, the mallards, geese and even a great blue heron on the lake in the morning. If this place was wonderful in late fall, it must be even better in the summer. Those kayaks looked so inviting!

Great cabin right on water with great foliage views

  • 5 of 5

Great 4 bed cabin with open floor plan that was perfect for a guys golf trip. Slept 6 comfortably but could have been up to 9 if needed. Nice yard with fire pit and hammock and great views of fall foliage. We didn’t use the kayaks/canoes but there were about 5 total available for use. Would definitely rent again.

Great price for 4 bedroom on lake

  • 3 of 5

Enjoyed our stay at Ashmere Lake. Took advantage of kayaks and canoe. Did some fishing out on water and off of docks. Caught a 15" Bass and a couple of pickerel. Lake very quiet in the morning- enjoyed sitting on dock (got to watch out you don't step in duck poop) having morning coffee and relaxing in hammock. House clean- newer bathrooms, but living room couch and 3 season furniture cushions need to be replaced, not comfortable at all. Went to Ozzies Steak n Egg for dinner-if larger party-make reservations ahead of time as not many restaurants nearby. Also enjoyed Apple squeeze festival in Lenox, Ma and hiking Kennedy Woods- just watch out for the Black bear also enjoying the woods.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your feedback. We aim to make the house comfortable for our guests so always appreciative. We've replaced the couch with a broyhill couch and loveseat in the inside living area and will be replacing the cushions on the porch for next spring. Thanks again and hope to have you back. Regards, Mike
