Overview

About the property

Chalet, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, Gorgeous River View & Access

Come to the Riversong Chalet Retreat and breathe in the peace and tranquility of nature overlooking the white-waters of the Snoqualmie River's most southern fork. This charming Chalet has been updated to make for a comfortable and inviting get-a-way! Situated just across from the John Wayne Trail and nestled in a canopy of evergreens, it is the perfect spot to meditate, read, write, paint or satisfy your hunger to hike, kayak, bike, golf or ski.

The Chalet has soaring ceilings matched by sweeping views of the boulder filled, foamy whitewater river and towering fir, aspen, cedar and hemlock. Eagle and Osprey fish happily here, while Mallards and Heron have also claimed the river for sunning and fishing. Elk, deer and squirrel can be seen and lend to the feeling of blending with nature. Although located just minutes from I-90, once on the property, you'll feel a million miles away.

The downstairs bedroom is fitted with a queen Tempurpedic mattress. The upstairs loft bedroom has a four poster with a firmer queen mattress with memory foam toppers for an extra comfortable rest. There is also a single sleigh bed in the loft for a child or extra guest. The loft is 400 sq. feet so there is plenty of room for the cots located in the closet for extra little sleepers! (5 Adults Max) (**Note: There is also a PacknPlay located in the upstairs closet if needed) The home is cozy and charming with ambient lighting, spiral staircase to the upper loft, wood floors, a cushioned porch swing and fire pit on the deck.

We are located 10 minutes from the Snoqualmie Casino which features world class dining and entertainment! The town of North Bend is the home of the legendary Twin Peaks filming and Twedes Cafe where memorabilia abound. Twin Falls St. Park, Mt. Si and trails, Rattlesnake Lake and hiking trails, and The John Wayne Trail are all within either walking or biking distance or minutes by car. Snoqualmie Pass ski slopes are just fifteen minutes east! We have supplied games and books, two color televisions and a hearth to warm yourself and loved ones by.

Get past a writer's block, rest from the chaos of the city, or just come to have a welcome change of pace! This comfortable nest will be a delight to arrive at and hard to leave!

About Valerie Fogel & DeAnne Dodson

We have been residents in North Bend since 1997. We fell in love with the mountains and the rivers, the hikes and the scenery. We love to travel, write, paint, and spend time with family and dear friends. Being a part of the Great Pacific Northwest is and will always be a passion. The smell of the fir trees, the roil of the river, the eagle and wildlife that share these vast and intimate spaces are our extended family and never ending source of satisfaction.

Valerie Fogel & DeAnne Dodson purchased this chalet in 2004

Why Valerie Fogel & DeAnne Dodson chose Washington State

We bought this home to have a retreat to share with family and friends. It feels miles from the hub-bub of the suburbs or the city, but is actually just minutes away from nightlife or the airport!

What makes this chalet unique

The most treasured benefit of staying at this property is the close proximity to nature and the serenity and peace that brings!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We came here to escape from the "real" world for a few days and couldn't have found a better place. We enjoyed spending time exploring along the trails and the river. The weather was perfect for relaxing on the deck, enjoying the sights and sound of the river. It was nice to let the city ebb away to be replaced by the soothing sounds of nature. The chalet was cozy, comfortable and romantic. What a rare treat to be able to relax in front of the fireplace while enjoying the sounds of the river just outside the door.

Everything here at the chalet met and exceeded our expectations and we definitely hope to return in the future.

Charming Chalet by the River's Edge

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I shared the chalet with his sister for a long weekend in June. We were in town for a high school graduation. It is very peaceful and relaxing. The long deck spans the back of the house and overlooks the river. It is just beautiful. The house is very comfortable. There is a bedroom downstairs and the second bedroom is an open loft upstairs. My husband and I used that and I felt like we had plenty of privacy. The beds were very comfortable. It was very clean when we got there and DeAnne & Valerie were quick to respond when we could not figure out the TV. Breakfast was the only meal we cooked there but the kitchen was adequately equipped to accommodate that.

I will definitely be adding this one to my favorites list!

Beautiful but unable to enjoy it

  • 3 of 5

Our chalet was rustic, charming, magical with the river coursing off the deck. It was beautifully furnished and clean as a whistle. I felt so cared for when I spoke to Deanne and Valerie. I know they meant well but, alas, the first thing we smelled when we opened the door was chemicals and fabric softener. Scented laundry products are quite deadly for me. Everything smelled densely of fabric softener -- the new sheets, towels, the very fabric of the mattress pad and pillows, blankets, even the quilts in the closet. Fabric softener is a wax and pretty much permanently permeates whatever has been washed in it, especially if it is a constant part of the laundry routine. I tried to sleep in the bed the first night using my pillow but my body broke out in a rash, went into shock, my heart started racing uncontrollably and my head pounded and I became quite nauseous. I did not sleep the entire time. Jim bought a sleeping bag and a new pillow as my pillow now smelled as well and I spent the week flat on my back on the deck. There was so much to do for the wedding and my husband had to do it all alone plus he/everyone was so worried about me which added to my stress of feeling like I was a burden. Jim did not like having the smell in his face and on his skin but did not have any issues, thankfully. I know the river washed away my tears. Jane and Riley were lovely as is /was my connection with Deanne and Valerie. PLEASE, reconsider using fabric softener. It is one of the most toxic substances, along with dryer sheets, for the immune system implicated in multiple cancers. Even hotels no longer use scented laundry soaps and/or fabric softeners. I truly hesitated sharing this but this was too traumatic to dismiss. Lovingly, Sandy

great place

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much, great spot on the river, very unique place. And the location was perfect for visiting family and doing outdoor activities that were centered around North Bend. I really missed 'hearing the river' for a few days after we left. So glad we found this place, it could not have worked out better for me and my family. Thank you for offering it.

Beautiful Property & Peacful Stay

  • 5 of 5

My fiancée & I had an awesome stay at the Chalet. It is literally right on the river, which was so peaceful and relaxing. The Chalet is just 5 min to North Bend, 15 min from Snoqualmie & 18 min to Snoqualmie Casino. The house is super cute and the beds are very comfy. We were greeted by the neighbor’s friendly dog. Made us feel at home before we even walked inside the chalet.

This place was everything that my fiancée & I were looking for. Description of property & location were spot on. The signs were helpful and NOT a problem as other guests have mentioned.

The only issue we had was with the hot water. Even without doing dishes or laundry I ran out of hot shower water on night one and Kristen while running bath tub water the second night. But this WILL NOT detour us from visiting again.

I have already suggested this property to three people since staying (4/2/17). We will also revisited.

Thank you Valerie & DeAnne for the opportunity to visit “RiverSong Chalet”.

Not a get away: a (maid) away

  • 1 of 5

When we got to the property we found it was in a neighborhood with neighbors right on top of you which was fine, but once we entered the house there where notes everywhere telling us what we could and couldn't do like: take your shoes off or mop the floor, turn off the lights in the kitchen to run the microwave, take the garbage and recycling out to the street, don't unplug the alarm clock, strip the beds and do the laundry before you leave and the list goes on and on. Ultimately we left early because we couldn't relax we were too worried about not making a mess. We didn't feel like paying guests that's for sure.

Owner's Response: RiverSong is situated on a roomy quarter acre, nestled against the shore and tucked toward the end of a quiet cul de sac. The retired neighbors are virtually unseen once inside the chalet or while enjoying the spacious deck. Managing vacation rentals can sometimes be challenging since the owners are typically not on site to assist with questions about how things work around the home. Notes and posted guidelines can help clarify to improve the quality of each visit. Experienced travelers may have seen this in other vacation rentals they've stayed in. For those travelers who may be new to VRBO, this might a new concept. Many of the posted guidelines are designed to assist in reducing wear and tear on RiverSong so we can keep things nice for all of our current and future guests.
