About this property
Secluded Tree House Chalet
Slip away to a secluded, treehouse-style chalet tucked into the lush canopy of Squak Mountain. Follow the sound of a cascading waterfall to your private retreat, then unwind on two spacious cedar decks surrounded by birdsong and forest views. Inside, the airy great room feels suspended among the treetops. Yet historic downtown Issaquah is within walking distance, with scenic hiking trails just minutes away.
Tucked among the treetops on Squak Mountain, Chez Squeak is a peaceful chalet overlooking a wooded ravine and seasonal creek. Enter beside a cascading waterfall, unwind on two spacious cedar decks—including one with an oversized hammock—and gather around the outdoor fire pit beneath the trees.
Inside, soaring windows frame the surrounding forest and flood the open great room with natural light, creating the feeling of living among the treetops. A custom gas fireplace, handcrafted from weathering steel, creates a striking architectural focal point and a cozy place to unwind after a day of exploring. Deer, rabbits, and raccoons often wander through the woods, and you may even catch a glimpse of the occasional bear.

Hosted by Heather or Daniel
We’re Daniel and Heather, longtime Issaquah residents with a shared love of travel, design, nature, and welcoming people from around the world. Together, we’ve explored more than 100 countries and built and renovated four vacation homes.
Daniel is a retired software engineer whose adventures include spending an unforgettable year working at the South Pole. Heather is a singer, pianist, and cruise-ship headliner who has performed around the world and at legendary venues including Carnegie Hall and Jazz at Lincoln Center.
We’ve brought the spirit of our travels into each home, decorating with art, furnishings, and special pieces collected from around the world. Our travels and building projects have taught us that the most memorable stays combine comfort, thoughtful details, beautiful surroundings, and a genuine sense of welcome. We hope you’ll feel right at home during your stay. Why they chose this property We chose Squak Mountain for its beautiful surroundings and its ideal location near downtown Issaquah and close proximity to Seattle. The home sits on one and a half acres beneath towering 100-foot fir trees, where deer and other wildlife are frequent visitors. A koi pond, cascading waterfall, and gas fire pit create a truly one-of-a-kind setting in the heart of Issaquah.
The property is also close to all the site seeing in the Seattle area and several scenic trailheads, including the trail to Debbie’s View, where hikers are rewarded with a glorious view of Mount Rainier on a clear day. What makes this property unique Nature is woven into everyday life here at Chez Squak. We designed our homes to embrace the forest, with expansive windows that frame the trees, cedar decks that extend the living spaces outdoors, and peaceful areas to gather beside the koi pond, waterfall, and fire pit. Whether we’re watching deer pass through the property, listening to birds in the canopy, or enjoying the changing seasons, we never take the beauty of Squak Mountain for granted.
