The space
We purchased this cabin/property which had been used solely for a hunting cabin prior to us. After a complete update inside and out, we have opened up our cabin to airbnb users to be able to enjoy all it has to offer year round! Some areas of the country have had negative feedback of short term rentals
taking over local sectors. This cabin is the complete opposite of that. The prior owners lived out of the area and now, with airbnb rentals, our renters support local businesses, cafes, grocery stores and more, almost every day of the entire summer. This airbnb is a strong supporter of the local economy! Thank you for supporting the Park Rapids/Menahga area.
Spring and summer are exciting times in the woods! To watch the trees leaf, the ferns unfurl, the flowers bloom, the birds and wildlife come to life, is a treat to witness. Once the ice leaves the lake, it doesn't take long for the nesting ducks/loons/swans to make their appearance.
Fall and winter give visitors a chance to be up close and personal with mother nature, with solitude, peaceful evenings by the fire, and a chance to plug in to the reality of life.
Hiking/Snowshoe trails provide every outdoor enthusiast plenty of fresh air and fairly easy paths through the dense forest land.
Winter time means snowmobiling and ice fishing time! Groomed Snowmobile trail crosses our road along Hwy 71, just a quarter mile from cabin. Crappie, sunnie and bluegill fishing out in front of the cabin , more abundant fish available on nearby lakes!
We strive to ensure every guest has the relaxing getaway you deserve.
Gradual elevation to beach, no stairs! In fact, you can drive down if you're hauling lots of toys/fishing gear/kayaks for lake fun in summer.
We take great care in the cleaning and sanitizing of our cabin after each guests stay. We provide sheets, paper towels, soaps and tissue, but please bring your own towels and blankets.
Lord Lake has a public boat landing across the lake. You're welcome to launch your kayaks or small craft right from our beach. Cabin includes use of row boat and oars. 3 seat PFDs included. Canoe available. We have over 20 acres of property with this cabin, and numerous hiking/snowshoeing trails we keep mowed and cleared.
Great swimming beaches nearby in Menahga or on Long Lake, numerous others, or enjoy a dip right from our dock...sandy beachside for enjoyment. Tubing down one of the rivers (like Fish Hook or Crow Wing) is a great summer activity!
This location has no neighbors close by, yet a ten minute drive will get you into Park Rapids or Menahga, depending on which direction you want to go. Blueberry Golf Course and Supper Club nearby. Many wonderful local eateries close.
Two firepits on the property. One next to the cabin, and the other is lakeside along with a picnic table. Dont forget your lighting fluid! Our wood can be wet. Also may want to pick up a local bundle of dry wood at a gas stop in Menahga or Park rapids just to get it going good, then using ours once its fired up.
Wonderful ambiance with propane fireplace in living space, which keeps cabin heated well and is controlled by a thermostat. Baseboard heat in bedrooms controlled by their own wall thermostats. Electric heat in living room also thermostat controlled.
Window Air conditioner keeps cabin cool on hot summer days.
Fans provided for each bedroom, for white noise sleepers and cooling off alike.
An owners camper is on the property, and they may be on site. There's plenty of room for privacy for all, as camper pad is not next to cabin.
Guest access
You're renting the entire cabin, except for loft area which is inaccessible. Heated fishhouse on lake in front of cabin, included with cabin rental. (Through March 1) over 20 acres of cleared trails, great for winter snowshoeing or hiking any time of year, directly outside cabin door is trailhead.
Other things to note
Kept clean and neat. Please do your part to do the same!
NO PETS ALLOWED and NO SMOKING ALLOWED IN CABIN. You are welcome to light up outside, but kindly dispose of your butts properly. An additional $50 fee is assessed to people carelessly leaving cigarette butts laying around outside. $1000 cleaning fee assessed to those smoking indoors or bringing a pet. This is our family cabin, and our son has severe dog allergy which is life or death situation so this isnt something we can compromise on.

Relaxing and Peaceful
This property is perfect if you want a peaceful and relaxing getaway. The cabin is very clean and has everything that you need (including blankets). The lake is small and quiet. We had a wonderful time! The only improvements that could be made is to have better lighting in the cabin by the rocker recliners (too dark to read in the evening). Also, if there was a 5 gallon bucket down by the fire pit near the lake, it would make it easier to put out the fire at night. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us!

Exceeded Expectations
I live about 70 miles away, am an extreme introvert, and was just about to start a new semester as a college professor. I have always loved the woods of northern MN and WI. I saw this listing on Vrbo and decided to book it for a couple of nights as a solitary getaway. It was my first time using Vrbo. All my expectations were exceeded! The check-in process was very easy. I had full access to the rowboat and canoes on the property, which was gorgeous. I walked on the trails and caught a meal of bluegill sunfish right off the dock. The only issue is that the lake off the dock is not terribly suitable for swimming; it is filled with lily pads and layers of muck composed of who knows what. I don't think swimming off the dock should be advertised...it should be emphasized that it is a habitat for fish, and not maintained for swimming. The two fire pits were awesome. The cabin itself has a lot of charm, with comfortable furniture and beds, books about the outdoors, and a kitchen with everything one needs to clean and cook fish. The surroundings are tranquil and solitary, yet very convenient to Park Rapids. I am planning on coming back next year!!

Why they chose this property

Mother Nature is always in full bloom here! Our little cabin is licensed for up to 4 people, and is a spot where you can get away from it all, connect with nature, and enjoy some peaceful relaxation. The cabin is nestled near the middle of our 20 acres, lakeside on a small pan fishing lake in MN. We keep many trails open for hiking and/or snowshoeing. We have a gas grill, 2 fire pits (one next to the cabin, with a lake view...and the other is lakeside). Our lake shore gets weeding starting in mid summer, but there's a clear path out beyond the lily pads where it reaches 30 feet in depth. Summer brings deep green foliage everywhere with seasonal wildflowers everywhere, ferns, and beautiful Oak, Maple, Birch, Poplar, Ash and Norway, Spruce and Jackpine. Depending on the season, we enjoy strawberries and blueberries from nearby fresh picked patches. Chokecherries in August, and then in fall.....the leaves! Changing colors and the sound of crunchy leaves underfoot fill the senses. Winter is a special time at the cabin, with woodpeckers, nuthatch, and chickadees staying busy in the trees, while the deer still frequent the property. We have many trails that our visitors enjoy utilizing for snowshoeing and cross country skiing, or hop on the groomed snowmobile trail that travels along Hwy 71 just a half mile from the cabin proper. Ice fishing out front of the cabin is another favorite pastime. Spring brings an abundance of refreshed life back after a long snowy winter. Any season is a good season at the cabin!
