The space
This cozy log cabin was built on an Amish farm in Southern Wisconsin and moved to the Northwoods in Two sections. Make sure to check out our photo album in the the cabin, it was quite the process. Everywhere you look you can see the Amish influence, from the Humphrey gas lights to rustic hickory furniture. It features a full kitchen, modern bath and two sleeping lofts with a catwalk joining between them. One loft has two comfortable queen beds and the other loft has a king and a full bed with all fresh linens provided. The kitchen features an LP 4 burner cook stove with an oven, LP refrigerator, hot water on demand system and all the supplies you need to make any meal. The living room is set up for casual comfort to relax in after your adventures. Drink hot cocoa and warm up by the fireplace nestled in a custom stone hearth made with handpicked fieldstone. Two high quality queen sofa sleepers are available for main level comfort. Additional space is available in the walk out basement. Enjoy two LP gas fireplaces, ½ bath and additional sleeping space. The basement has a Queen and Full bed as well as a Full Sleeper and Twin Sleeper. Vacuum packaged fresh linens are available if you choose to sleep in the basement. Many guests prefer the basement in the summer for cooler sleeping. Solar Panels charge a 12 volt battery bank in the basement that is inverted into 110 to power the outlets, limited lights and ceiling fan. Supplemental electricity is effortlessly accessed from inside the cabin by the simple push of a button to start the LP generator located in its own building outside. The outdoor fire pit is a short stroll from the cabin for making s'mores under the stars – All camp wood is provided as well as wood for heating the cabin.
***We have room for your ATV and Snowmobile Trailers plus the added benefit of walking out the door, hopping on your ATV or sled and accessing the trails via Rock Creek Rd.***
Other things to note
VERY IMPORTANT TO READ BEFORE YOU BOOK:
We will greet you upon your arrival and provide you with a quick introduction to operate the unique features of the cabin. Anytime between 3 pm and 6 pm is available. We will coordinate with you a few days ahead of your stay. From then on you will have the place to yourself but we’re always available by phone should you need anything. Checkout time is 12 PM.
Our road can be plowed by local residents during winter months but will be snow packed and could be icy or slick. All types of cars can make it to the cabin in the summer, but before booking please take into consideration whether you are concerned about the abilities of your car or your driving abilities on snow covered roads. Four Wheel drive is recommended in the winter.
The cabin is off grid and the generator uses LP gas for electricity. The generator is connected to a large LP fuel tank that should provide you with all the fuel you should need. The generator is only needed to power the water pump or any other plug in appliances that take a lot of amps such as a hairdryer. The lights, refrigerator, stove and water heater are all powered by propane or inverted battery power. Only cell phones and small electronics can be plugged into the outlets inside. Extra flashlights would be good to have along. If you need to have any type of device that runs off electricity through the night you should be able to plug in our system. You will need to monitor the level of the batteries to determine if you need to run the generator for a period to charge the battery bank. Being mindful of how much electricity you use will be necessary to keep the batteries at a sustained level. If you have special needs for electricity, please reach out to us before you book so we can discuss with you if this is a good choice for your needs.
The water comes from a drilled well. Although the water is safe to drink it is very high in iron and has a red tint. We recommend bringing bottled water if you prefer for drinking. Please note that the shower, toilet and sink will turn a bit orange by the end of your stay. The system has a pressure tank that is filled so when the generator is not on you will still have water to wash hands, a few dishes and flush the potty a couple times. You'll want to turn the generator and the well pump on before jumping in the shower.
