Life doesn’t get any better than experiencing the breathtaking views and turquoise waters of Roatan at the Pink Orchid!
The Pink Orchid is one of seven Caribbean style homes located in the cozy community of Orchid Beach Village. Situated high on a scenic bluff with views in every direction, the home overlooks the crystal clear protected waters of the largest coral reef in the northern hemisphere (surpassed only by the great barrier reef in Australia)...a diver's paradise! Enjoy panoramic views of island wildlife, tropical foliage and up-close sunsets right off a private deck with spectacular vistas of the ocean. The three bedrooms each with its own private attached bathroom makes this an affordable option for a large family or 3-4 couples to share the cost. From its traditional Caribbean hardwood and tiled floors to its vaulted ceilings and floor-to ceiling windows, you can enjoy island living at its best. Whether you are floating on your favorite water mattress on the calm waters, snorkeling off the dock to take in the abundant sea life, relaxing in the sandy waist-deep waters, lounging with a good read in the hammock, or soaking in the sun on the deck lounges jutting over the tranquil waters...this place has it all! The average annual temperature on Roatan is 85 degrees F/29 degrees C so you can wear your shorts day and night. Roatan is a top diving and snorkeling destination with hundreds of dive sites, many of them world class, due to the 37 miles of coral reef that runs along the north coast of the island.
The Pink Orchid is located halfway between the town of West End and one of the world’s ten most beautiful beaches – West Bay Beach. West End is a unique village (think Margaritaville) where the streets are sand and reminiscent of 40 years ago -- a true Caribbean experience. West Bay Beach is the most pristine beach on the island surrounded by tropical vegetation and fresh air outdoor restaurants in keeping with the island culture. Enjoy the best of both worlds with West Bay's upscale beach life including endless white sand, azure waters, beachfront restaurants and bars, gift shops, and water sport activities of all kinds or West End's unique Caribbean style where you can buy fruits and vegetables off the back of a truck, rent mopeds, arrange for your scuba adventure at the many dive shops, shop in their plentiful tourist markets, or enjoy a cool Salva Vida, the local Honduran beer. It’s only a 3-minute water taxi ride to either destination from the private dock or a 15-minute walk on the beach. No need to drive.
Orchid Beach Village has a 24-hour security system onsite. The kitchen is equipped with a full-sized refrigerator, four burner stove & oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, waffle maker and electric mixer for all your cooking needs. The full service for twelve of Dansk Caribe dishes and many cooking and serving dishes make this the perfect place for entertaining. If the preference is to have someone do the cooking during your stay on the island, a local cook can come and prepare some or all of the meals to your liking. There are ceiling fans in every room, a back-up solar system for energy efficiency, TV and DVD in living room, wireless Internet, and a stainless steel outdoor barbecue grill and picnic table. Bottled water is provided for your drinking needs and the ultraviolet water purification system makes tap water safe. Each room has a separately controlled air conditioner. This is a non-smoking home.
EASY TO GET TO:
Roatan is easier to get to than many Caribbean destinations. The Roatan airport has non-stop flights from Newark, Houston, Atlanta, and Miami on Continental, Delta, and Taca. There are also frequent flights from San Pedro Sula on mainland Honduras, and direct charters from Toronto, Canada, Milan, Italy (on Alitalia Euroair) and from Madrid, Spain. It is the owner's goal to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. They hope you will come and enjoy your stay at Orchid Beach on this diverse and beautiful island!

The owners, Al and Pam Kuck, live in northeastern Wisconsin in the United States. Al is an animal geneticist for one of the largest cattle breeding organizations in the country and Pam is an educational consultant working with large metropolitan school districts and state departments of education around the country. They have three grown daughters, and two new grandchildren who live worlds apart in Wisconsin and Australia. The family gathers annually in Roatan for reunions. They have enjoyed boating and water skiing all their lives and especially love the warm weather of the island during Wisconsin winters.
The Owner purchased this house in 2009
The Kucks researched the many Caribbean Islands and found Roatan to be one of the most beautiful. It's lush tropical vegetation, white sand beaches, turquoise blue waters, sweet unaffected towns and pleasant local people made it a natural choice for them to purchase their home. The location of the Pink Orchid within walking distance from West Bay Beach (one of the world's ten top most beautiful beaches) and West End (a diver's paradise) was important to them. There is something in the air on Roatan that makes visits unforgettable and draws one back again and again...perhaps the old-world charm of a time long forgotten when life was slow, lazy, and peaceful was what attracted them to this tropical oasis. The addition of the $67M new Mahogany Bay Cruise terminal and the new Black Pearl 9-Hole Golf Course promise the island will continue to thrive and prosper. Al & Pam want to share their home when not in use so that you too can experience the lure of this unforgettable island paradise.
We just returned from a wonderful week at the Pink Orchid. The entire week was as good as we could ever wish....the house was well equipped and so comfortable, the location awesome, and of course the dock and water were AWESOME!!!! We felt welcomed and well informed by the owners and property manager and thoroughly enjoyed the people recommended for fishing and snorkel trips. Reagan and Marty were awesome! We rented cars to do some adventuring, get to restaurants and to play golf, as well as to get to the grocery stores which were were convenient and easy. We definitely hope to return to this area again and would love to stay at the Pink Orchid!
my family and i arrived on 12/24 for a stay until 12/31 of 2015. i can't say enough positive things about the pink orchid. the house is so well-equipped with everything you may need, in particular, the kitchen--minus the vitamix, it's better than my own! the location is great for a walk to either west bay or west end, the snorkeling is awesome, and even the occasional visiting dogs are lovely. pamela and al furnish their renters with so much useful information about their house and the island that you basically need nothing else. i can't wait to return to roatan and i would definitely rent the pink orchid in the future.
We just returned from our trip to Roatan and our stay at the Pink Orchid. We were very pleased with our trip and the ease of dealing with the owners, on site staff and local residents. The owners were very informative and easy to contact prior to our trip and the house is exactly (or better) as described on the website. Location is fantastic with an easy walk either way down the beach to the West End community or West Bay Beach for shopping, dining and entertainment. We went with our two teenage children and another couple and the house was perfect for 6 people. Snorkeling and floating right from the dock was great and the kayak trips to the reef for snorkeling (a very short paddle) were off the hook! We saw sea turtles, a moray eel and several barracuda as well as many beautiful reef fish. The local contacts were really good and we had a local chef come prepare and island feast at the Pink Orchid one evening. We caught tuna on a fishing trip right outside the reef in front of the house and went zip lining one day through the jungle very close to the house. Water taxis were readily available right from the dock and it never took more than a few minutes to flag one down. All in all a fantastic trip for our family. I also think that we should report that the ladies on our trip walked by themselves during the day to both the West End community and West Bay and never felt uncomfortable or threatened during these ventures. It seemed much safer than some of the other locations in Central America / Caribbean region we researched. We did heed the owners advice and stay off the beaches after dark.
We had such a great stay at the pink orchid house! It is a great location. Very secluded without being isolated. We could easily talk to west end and west bay beach but the house was so great we spent most of our time there. The snorkeling right off the dock and out at the reef was great. We even saw a nurse shark one day when we kayaked out to the reef and we saw an octopus on the rocks walking towards west end. The house was in great condition and had everything we could possibly need. Thanks for the great stay!
We stayed at the Pink Orchid with a group of friends for a week and absolutely loved it! Roatan is amazing and the Pink Orchid is in a great location - close to west bay, close to west end, but also quiet and away from everything, with beautiful views of the water. The house is very well stocked (yay for the reef guides and id books!), the kitchen has literally everything you could possibly need, and we didn't encounter a single problem with anything in the house. We loved having the kayaks available for use and the deck (and the hammock!) were absolutely perfect. We accidentally set off the alarm once and the property manager was very helpful in fixing our mistake. The neighbors were all very friendly too and gave us great suggestions of things to do :-) We hope to come back!
We traveled with 10 people and stayed in two homes in Orchid Beach. The Pink Orchid is exactly as described. We had all the amities that we needed and we were an easy walk to West End and West Bay. It was very private but we met some wonderful people staying in the neighborhood. The dock was a huge plus and the snorkeling from it was amazing. We were not at the house that much during the day but it was nice to come back to a comfortable setting that was similar to home! Beats a hotel by far. We would definitely stay at the Pink Orchid again. The owners were very responsive to our emails and questions. We traveled on a mission to help the kids on Roatan and Cayos Cochinos and it was a very fulfilling trip. Roatan has something for everyone: Beach, snorkeling, scuba, site seeing, canopy tours, fishing, etc. No matter what you are interested in you can find it somewhere on the island. Please do not come to just see the advertised tourist attractions. You will really miss out if you don't see the countryside and meet the locals! We use Roatan Tours Company for EVERYTHING! They are based out of BananaRama on West Bay Beach. They partner with the Montana Scholarship Fund and help get our supplies to the kids year around. Tell them Montana sent you and I am sure you will get a great deal.
Guests can be picked up on private dock for scuba diving, deep sea fishing, or island excursions, No trip to Roatan is complete without a visit to Jonesville for the Sunday afternoon all-you-can eat lobster and steak shindig at the Hole in the Wall.
