Why Desiree Yardis, Property Manager chose Orchid Beach Village
We chose to purchase this property due to its ideal location within walking distance from prime beach and tourist areas yet far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet. The beach front setting is ideal for evening sunsets and relaxing with family and friends. The house sits right on the beach with excellent snorkeling just steps away.

This house is located between West End and West Bay beach area. You can easily catch a water taxi to either location right from the end of the neighbor’s dock. The house offers beautiful views of the sea and amazing sunset views. The snorkeling right in front of the house is fabulous! We saw many different types of coral and colorful tropical fish everywhere. But we also saw several octopus in their dens and an absolutely huge moray eel! We spent hours snorkeling. One of our group even took the paddle board out to the reef a couple of times to snorkel. Gail’s help was essential and very appreciated in getting us to and from the airport. Gail also recommended a contact so some of our group could go fishing. That turned into a couple of delicious dinners. There are a few recommendations we would make. The house was cleaned right before we got there as the previous guests had just left that morning, but I think it needs a deep cleaning. Additionally, the beds and linens need to be updated. The beds downstairs are very uncomfortable. It’s also important for renters to know how bad the bugs are. Unfortunately, we could not use the pool area the whole time we were there because the mosquitoes and noseeums were so bad, even though we were diligently using tons of Deet insect repellent every time we went outside. Obviously, this is not the owner’s fault, but it’s worth mentioning. We ended up going to West Bay several days and utilizing day passes to some of the resorts there just so we could hang out outside by a pool without being eaten alive. Overall, we had a lovely vacation to Roatan that we will never forget.
Thanks so much for your feedback! We are glad your group enjoyed the snorkeling and fishing. There are so many fun things to do on Roatan and all close to the house. I appreciate your comments on the deep cleaning as my husband and I are going down in a few weeks and will do a very deep clean and inspection of the property. We are in the process of updating the bedding (some new spreads are already purchased - just not down there yet)! We hope to see you again soon.
Paradise -great location on the water
The house is centrally located between West Bay and West End, a perfect location. It’s away from the crowds but you can easily walk or water taxi to either place. The house accommodated our large crowd and is better than the photos reflect. Our check in was smooth and Gayle was available for any questions. This place is a slice of paradise!
The snorkeling off the shore is great plus there are kayaks and a paddle board if you want to adventure further. We will be back!
Thanks for the review of our home! We hope you come back again soon.
Can't wait to go back!
We are missing this place! It is exactly as pictured. The house is perfectly located on Orchid Beach in between West End and West Bay. Both within easy walking distance for restaurants, shopping and markets. We took the water taxis most days and they picked us up right out front of the house on the dock. Super nice! Our family also completed our scuba certifications in Roatan and the dive shop picked up and dropped off each day from the dock. If you are picking a place for diving, this island and house is a great place to see the gorgeous reef and relaxing afterward. Chris was amazing and prepared fresh Conch salad right in our kitchen! He will take you all over the island. You must do the four wheel tour! Amazing. Gail was very informative and helpful with anything we needed or questions. Super happy with our stay and we fell in love with the people and Roatan. Until next time.
Thanks so much for the kind comments! We are glad you love the house and location as much as we do. Hope you come back soon!
Incredible location and home!
Our group of 8 adults visited the first week of April to celebrate a 50th birthday. From the initial booking to our departure, Desiree was available to answer questions and ensure we were happy with our stay. We were met at the airport by a porter who took our luggage to meet up with Desiree's colleagues, Chris and Sarah. They had beer and rum punch ready for our arrival as requested, a surprise for our group. We hit the grocery store, Eldons, where we stocked up on some food and lots of beverages - beer, wine, spirits. Then we had a short drive to the house. The house had a spectacular view out to the water. West End and West Bay are an easy $3 US/person ($5 at night) water taxi ride right from the dock in front of the house. Snorkeling in front of the house was great - saw lots of tropical fish, lobster, barracudas. Chris checked in with us throughout the week and even went out of his way to pick up a birthday cake as our group didn't rent a car. Lots of great food in both West End (Beachers for $20 lobster tail on Mondays), baliadas, and West Bay (the Argentinian Grill). Snorkling in Half Moon Bay in the roped off area near the sail boat kids jump off of, was excellent - saw turtles and a giant Eagle Ray. The Ibagari Hotel about 5 min walk towards West Bay is excellent. We saw sunsets every night and on our last night, had 2 beautiful Scarlett Macaws in the tree behind the house. The house had everything we needed for the week - A/C worked well. A few minor power glitches but nothing a few cold drinks and dip in the pool couldn't remedy. We were all wishing we had booked for 10 days instead of a week!
Best Place to stay in Roatan
The location is perfect halfway between West Bay and West End. Desiree was great and was super helpful. She arranged a fishing trip that picked us up right from the dock. The house itself was great. Big open area to hang out and the screened in porch was helpful. Great reef snorkeling just 300ish yards off the beach. We rented an Xterra from Joshua at Discover Roatan he met us at the airport with Desiree. We didn't use it every day but it was handy. The roads are tricky, but you will find that you adapt quickly. The pool and soaker tub were awesome. The wifi worked great and I was able to stream pandora to a portable speaker. I opted to pay the $10 for AT&T the island is mostly 3G. You can rent snorkle gear in West End for $5 a day. If you like Bourbon pick it up at the duty free shop at the airport. Each person can bring 2 bottles. I'm pretty sure I had the only Makers Mark on the island. Rums and Tequilas are cheap and the local beers are good. The food is good, be sure to go to the restuarant at Ibagari its a 2 minute walk down the beach and the food and drinks are great. The baleadas is tortilla, beans and meat sold by the street vendors it is cheap, good and filling. We went to French Key at first I though is was a little touristy but it was a fun time and worth it. When you leave it will take an hour or more to go through the security checks. We flew through Atlanta and customs was a 2 and 1/2 hour wait. Do yourself a favor and get World Pass through the TSA they had no wait. It costs $100 but it lasts 5 years and you get to go through the pre check lines for domestic. All in all if you want to rent a house in Honduras this is the one.
Great house for a family vacation!
We recently stayed at this property and had a wonderful time! There were 6 adults, and 3 teens. The house was perfect for the size of our group with everyone having their own private restroom associated with their room and a well appointed kitchen. The beach location is gorgeous - there is an amazing view from the screened in porch where you can sit and drink coffee in the mornings. The pool was a bonus as well. It was so great to come back from a morning of diving and jump in the pool. We dove with Sun Divers on the West End and they were able to pick us up each morning on the pier in front of the house. Desiree was a great house manager. She met us at the airport and facilitated our trip to the grocery store. Beware - groceries on Roatan are very expensive! The house is situated between the West End and West Bay but it is a difficult walk along the beach to West End. If you have anyone with limited abilities, you will need a car/taxi to get around. The snorkeling off the beach in front of the house is amazing as well. We saw tons of lobsters, crabs, fish and an eel. The dive shop that once occupied the space at the bottom of the stairs of this house has moved down the beach. I recommend paying extra for the daily housekeeping. Larissa was our housekeeper and she was lovely. One day she made us a traditional Honduran lunch which was delicious and fun. Overall, this house is an amazing place to stay and I would rent again and found it to be worth the expense. One word of caution when evaluating this rental - the average nightly rate listed on VRBO is the base price. When you indicate the number of people planning to stay and length of stay, the nightly price will increase accordingly. Not cheap but worth it!
Property is a short walk away from Gumbalimba Park and South Shore Zipline. It is just 15 minute walk either way to West Bay Beach or West End. You also can take a 5 minute water taxi to Restaurants and attractions.
