  • Tout simplement exceptionnel (Simply Exceptional!)

"With our 4 children, we came from France to visit Roatan. La Diosa was THE place to stay and we had a marvelous time there : the house and the garden are really wonderful, well equiped, with everything you might dream. The beach is near, and with the kayacks, you're able to snorkel on the beautiful reef in a few moments. Humming birds can be seen while you're taking your shower in the open air. The view is breathtaking. Beeing located on the east part of Roatan is really an advantage : this part of the island is more authentic, but in less than an hour you can access, if you want, the more touristical places in the island. Not far from the house, beautiful beaches, wonderful dives with "subway water sport" that pick you up right from the dock at La Diosa. Punta Gorda with its Garifuna joyful feats and dances is very near... And what made our stay really remarkable was the presence of Jorge. He is perfect in his role as caretaker : helpul, efficient, hardworker, always available but never intrusive. And we found he goes far beyond his duty, in the good sense : friendly, giving good advices, taking care of our security in every aspect, always ready to talk about Honduras and Roatan, showing our kids how to cook a traditional recipe. After a few days, though he was always discrete, we had the impression of being at home with a friend nearby. Jorge is really precious and added greatly to the quality of our stay in La Diosa… The best summary comes from our kids "when do we come back ?". And though it's very far from France, no doubt we also dream of it! PS : if you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle, don't hesitate to go far east, on the dirt road, to "La Sirena" restaurant : the view and the beach are amazing, and you've got the feeling of being at the edge of the world. Their fishes are delicious."

  • Simply the Best!

"We were back again in Feb 2017 to Sunset House for another relaxing vacation. Once again we found upgrades that make this simply the best vacation rental on Roatan. Our bed was brand new with top quality pillows and sheets. The owners have added a ping pong table to go along with the shuffle board table, kayaks and paddle boards. The tiki bar was once again the scene for delicious monkey lalas after a day of snorkeling. Seems like each time we visit it just gets better and better. New and better restaurants within walking distance too. Sure hope to return soon."

  • Such an experience

"This home was perfect for our group of 5 adults. The neighborhood was mostly quiet during the day with very little noise, and only the sound of waves made each night a peaceful one. Casa Argenta itself was just perfect! It was so unique, and had quirks that make this house even more special. Each bedroom was plenty big, and on opposite corners of the house from each other. The front bedroom with the ocean view was my room, it is one of the more unique aspects of the house, because it has 2 doors-one to the front porch, and one to the side porch. The side porch is only accessible from inside the house, but the front porch is right outside the other bedroom door. I think this is important to know because I felt a little nervous at first, BUT after orienting myself with the locks, I felt VERY safe! Not only was there a deadbolt but also a steel rod that secures this solid wooden fortress door to the floor, I slept easy and felt secure. There is sea grass between your own beach and the reef, but the 5 of us walked through it everyday with our flippers. Other reviews stated that it was unusable because of sea urchins, I did not see-or feel- any sea urchins in the grass. The snorkeling directly in front of the house was phenomenal, the reef was vibrant and so so so full of life! It was a nice feeling to stop whatever you were doing, just stand up and say, ok im going to go snorkel now, and walk from your front steps and into the ocean. The kitchen was well equipped, and came with jugs of water. We stopped at Eldons the grocery store with Jose(setup by Tanja) directly from the airport and stocked up, we made another trip a few days later. Plenty of toiletries/towels/linens. The best food we had on the island was at Beach Grill-at Blue Bahia(<5minute walk). Other restaurants were in walking distance ranging in price/atmosphere, Beach Grill gets my vote though. We walked to west end, but taking the bus that you catch at the main road was super cheap, and way faster than walking. The bus more resembles a taxi van-but is way cheaper We were so thankful to have Tanja (house manager)as a resource during our week stay. Tanja's welcome made us feel very at home in Sandy Bay. We really felt like we were her number one priority, and she just wanted us to enjoy our time on the island. She was successful! Call David with Roatan Culture Charters for anything to do with a boat Thank you Hans for sharing your home with us, we are very lucky! Hope to visit again"
