Sonny Hillside Hideaway has all the best to offer for your Canyon Lake Get Away. This 3 bedroom 2 1/2 baths. All bedrooms are upstairs. Private pool, hot tub and outdoor shower is fully stocked. If you forgot it, we got it! Keyless entry followed by a “Welcome”basket upon arrival. Welcome baskets also in bathrooms. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash in all showers. Huge kitchen with room for all to gather. Dry bar area in washroom. You will find a coffee bar in the kitchen as well as coffee stations in some bedrooms, (coffee provided.) Fresh herbs to use for cooking, foil, baggies, etc and all the seasoning you could ask for. We are all about our beautiful crystal clear lake and our rock bottom rivers make sure you take time to enjoy them. Nothing like a day by the pool grilling. (Grill is gas and charcoal.) Enjoy a Texas star lit night in the hot tub. There is also an outdoor pizza oven. (Ask about our pizza kits.) If there is no burn ban enjoy the fire pit in the back yard with some smores and good conversation. You will also find a dog washing station on back yard deck with shampoo and dog towels for your fur babies, next to the outdoor shower. There are many stairs and decks. There is also plenty of room to park your boat or jet ski. Conveniently located a few blocks from boat ramp #2 with a beachside area to enjoy the lake. Take a golf cart ride to feed the neighborhood deer. Reserve breakfast through our concierge and enjoy it along with the backyard scenery and your gourmet coffee. Take a day trip and drive the wine trail from here to Fredericksburg. We also have wonderful distilleries in the Texas Hill Country. Please note, this is a pet friendly property. However, if you are bringing a pet there is a $75 pet cleaning fee. No exceptions. Do not complain about a dog home smelling like dog. We do our VERY best to prevent this. You will be asked to sign a rental agreement and waiver.

Sonny Hillside Hideaway has exceeded our expectations. Quiet, centrally located, and incredible views all throughout, made for a perfect Spring Break family getaway. The home itself was beautifully appointed, lovingly maintained and very roomy and inviting. The backyard areas (outside living area with tv, hot tub, and pool) were some of the highlights of our stay and helped to create great family memories. The beds were extremely comfortable, bathrooms (especially the rainfall showers) were a treat, and the kitchen made for fun family meals and entertaining. The hosts ( Angela & Brian ) were easy to communicate with and answered any and all questions. My family and I wholeheartedly recommend here for your next family adventure! Thanks!

My girl-group of mature ladies really enjoyed our stay at Sonny Hillside. The location was great for day trips to other hill country towns. Except for several steps in and around the house, the accomodations were great. The kitchen and bathrooms were filled with anything and everything you could possibly needed. It was also so cool to see the beautiful deer in the neighborhood. But above all this was the excellent communications with the host.

Lovely house

Our family of 4 had a great time at the Canyon Lake house. It was very spacious, clean and well appointed. We loved the outdoor space. It was quiet and peaceful. We woild definitely recommend it to anyone staying in the area!

Very clean, had all the things we forgot for our trip, nice and quiet. Great peaceful weekend getaway and we got to give our dog a much needed bath! Will come back.

Great mini vacation

The house is in a great location. You can’t see the lake from the house but it is at the end of the neighborhood. It’s very close to Canyon Lake Gorge and National Bridge Caverns & Safari. The pool was clean and lots of fun. The house is very relaxing, comfy and well equipped. Shower pressure was great and there was plenty of towels. Beds were very comfortable as well. We enjoyed our stay.

Family Holiday

Arrived to warm lights and Christmas tunes playing softly. Very nice atmosphere. Good spaces for gathering. Weather did not support using outside deck, campfire and hot tub areas but nicely arranged. Bedrooms and bathrooms clean and well atocked. Quiet neighborhood - remote from city bustle, just the way we wanted it!

Enchanting stay

This property is delightfull. Everything we could ask for close to the lake without all the craziness of being on the lake. The home is cozy and has anything one could ask for. Hot tub, pool, grill and wood burning pizza oven. Peaceful Coffee in the morning on the porch with the deer. Deck in the evening to enjoy the stars and cool evening. Close to both Gruene and Whitewater made for fun outings for my daughters. Absolutely will return. And recommend to everyone who asks me about staying in the area!

Awesome place!!

The owner thought of everything possible. We really enjoyed the hot tub. The pizza oven was great and a lot of family fun went into our pizzas. The place was very clean and plenty of room for everyone. The welcome basket was a nice touch and we loved the wine. We come to the lake several times a year and this was our first time to stay here. It will not be our last. We already booked again for summer! We can’t wait!!! So happy to have a favorite place to stay at the lake that fits everyone comfortably!

Such a treat. Owner has a talent for decor

We were so impressed with all of the amenities. Every kind of coffee, toiletries, etc...The hot tub was a hit! The fact we could bring our dogs was 100% a huge plus. They even had a pet station outside. The deer ate from our hands, and the front porch kitty was a plus! We will continue to rent from this couple any time we have family visit and want to go to canyon lake. We are so happy to have found this adorable family with their beautiful home. Gruene Weekend

The house was perfect for our weekend getaway. We were close to Gruene where we had several activities. The house was very comfortable. There are steps, different levels in the house & back yard area, so might be harder for older adults. The welcome basket was a nice touch (thank you). We did have trouble with the coffee machine (making a pot), not sure what we were doing wrong. Also in both queen bedrooms the ceiling fan light would randomly come on during the night. Thank you and we would rent there & with owners again.

Thoughtful owners and quiet getaway

The house is as depicted in photos. The owners are very responsive and have included thoughtful touches throughout the house, including fresh flowers, robes, snacks and wine basket waiting at check-in, etc. Everything you need to stay comfortably is on-site. We loved that the house is pet-friendly. We detected a bit of pet odor in the living room / primary bedroom on arrival as noted by another reviewer; we passed this information on and the owners were responsive to us. We get that that is one downfall of having / allowing pets and we didn’t dwell on it. Our four hot-tubbers initially enjoyed but then all had a skin reaction to the hot tub; again, we passed that info on so the owners could speak to their weekly pool / hot tub service to double-check chemical levels, etc. Overall, we enjoyed the Canyon Lake area and our group had a good time.

Fabulous 4th of July

We had a fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed with the property. The house itself was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. The owners had clearly put a lot of thought into creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. The amenities provided were outstanding. The kitchen was well-equipped with modern appliances, making it easy for us to prepare meals throughout our stay. The bedrooms were cozy and provided a good night's sleep, and the bathrooms were clean and stocked with fresh towels. One of the highlights of the property was the outdoor space. The backyard was beautifully landscaped, and we enjoyed spending time on the patio, grilling and relaxing. . The location of the house was also convenient. It was situated in a quiet neighborhood, away from the hustle and bustle, yet close enough to local attractions and amenities. We appreciated the privacy and tranquility that the location offered. Lastly, I want to mention the excellent communication and hospitality of the hosts. They were responsive to our inquiries and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Their attention to detail and willingness to accommodate our needs made our experience even more enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend this house. It provided a wonderful vacation experience, and I would not hesitate to book again.

Not what we expected from reviews and listing

Note: we booked this home with 24 hrs notice, so perhaps that’s why our experience was so diff from other reviews? Pros: Spacious home, plenty of bath linens. Quiet street, quiet neighbor. Deer, porch kitty, bats, birds. Hot tub. Fenced yard. Thoughtful touches and amenities. Easy to find. Cons: NOT “a few blocks” from the boat ramp. It is 1.7 MILES to the ramp. This was pretty misleading. Community pool is NOT for guests… prop owners are supposed to be with guests. Instructions said to “just say your with us.” We didn’t go, out of respect for other owners. Hate to say, but the home was dirty. I’m not a neat freak like my husband, but even my kids and I were grossed out. Housekeeping was still there, quickly finishing about 15 mins after check in. Even if she had more time to finish turnover housekeeping, a deep cleaning was much needed. Both shower non slip pads were filthy, to the point that removed them and cleaned the tubs as best I could. Any surface not part of “maintenance” cleaning was quite covered with pet and human hair, dust, and cobwebs. Many of the clean dishes in the cabs and drawers still had food residue (food, not water spots). When the cleaner smell and air fresheners faded, a noticeable pet urine smell lingered, strongest in the living room. While the advertised price was acceptable (esp on short notice), after fees etc, we did *not* feel we got what we paid for. Felt like we couldn’t really relax.

Jessica, First of all, your welcome. We accommodated you same day. “ Rescued you” were your words. We stayed in contact with you the entire visit. You NEVER said a word. We personally checked the house before you arrived to make sure the hot tub, back yard and home was perfect for your visit. We own a cleaning company and I am a neat freak! This and the fact we check before EVERY guest arrival tells me this is not accurate. We have never had these kinds of complaints and would have been glad to make you happy. There is NO pet smell. It is a home that allows pets. Perhaps you don't own one….The things you listed are ridiculous. To bite a helpful hand and give a 3 is just unacceptable. You said nothing about the $50 gift basket w wine. The hotel quality beds and linens …… the golf cart, feeding the deer. The views etc. We have our own pool! Maybe you forgot where you stayed. Im sorry if you feel your stay was not what you expected but we are certain things were in order before your visit. Maybe you should not book at the last minute. The Johnson’s
