  • Road Trip with Granddaughter

"This was a before school starts road trip with my oldest granddaughter (16). She had heard my stories of Wimberley and the Blue Hole, her choice! The Shepherds Rest was perfect for fact she & I had little down time. From grilling homemade pizza on the gas grill (hint: turn on the gas valve behind the pit, it is hooked up to the house propane tank, genius), enjoying the hot tub after long shopping trips on the square (town only 2-3 min drive) and we had a chance to enjoy some Blue Hole swimming (5 min. drive). The water at the Hole was approx. 60*, crystal clear, but she could not get me to jump from the Played darts, got challenged to a ping pong game, but sorry there were no balls to be found? Took a short walk to the Blanco River (right across street) The house is in excellent shape, bedding comfortable, fully equipped kitchen, good water pressure for showers and plenty of towels. You almost do not need to leave the property. Location, location, location... Customer service is A+, Aaron was very helpful on my only call to ask "where's the propane tank for the grill?" immediate response, even checked on us it 7 enjoy."

  • Very relaxing, enjoyable weekend

"My husband and I took our adult daughter and our 7 year old granddaughter to Egret's Landing and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was great to meet the owners, Leslie and Terry as they came down to meet us. We also appreciated that when we arrived late on Friday night, they had put the lights on for us. My granddaughter and husband caught 4 fish, which were too small to keep, but the catching was the fun part anyway!"

  • Everything + MORE!

"The house + grounds were even better than expected! We used every amenity available to us. We had 4 families - 8 adults + 6 kids (ages 4, 5, 6, 6, 7 and 9). The kids played musical beds most nights, but everyone slept comfortably between the bunk beds, sleeper sofa and extra mattress - although for 1 of the 3 nights the bunk beds did not get used at all - the kids all piled in the living room + library. Adults slept fine as well - all the beds were comfortable. It is important for guests to understand that the 2 upstairs bedrooms are entered from outside the home and one of them requires a high step to get in + out - this was not an issue for us though. The upstairs guests were most definitely guaranteed the best night sleep as well as able to sleep in a bit longer since all the kids were inside the main house. The Party Barn was a huge hit for our group...the kids enjoyed hanging out there during the day and the adults in the evening after all the littles went to bed. Pool + Hot Tub....despite the pool being too cool for the adults to enjoy the kids had no problem taking a dip and then warming up in the spa. There was plenty of room for every child....and plenty of room for all the dads! Unfortunately, the moms never got a chance to unwind together, but I'm fairly certain it could have accommodated all the adults together. Tennis Courts...there were only a few tennis players amongst us and no serious tennis games went down, but the kids had fun running on the court and tossing balls. There are plenty of balls + rackets should guests be interested in a more serious competition. Court lights would be a nice addition. Fire Pit, Pavilion, BBQ, Oversized Chess Game + Washers...we used it ALL! The fire pit in my opinion is uniquely designed - perfect for littles and accommodates a lot of people. I've never seen one like it and was a perfect hang out spot in the evenings. The outdoor space it what really makes this place work for larger groups! But I must add that more outdoor lighting would be a nice addition especially with it getting darker earlier this time of year...several tree lights were burned out - having those working may have made all the difference. Overall - the group was very satisfied with our stay and we plan to make it an annual trip for years to come!"
