About this property
Walls of Glass--Amazing Views, Kingdom Trails-3mi-Burke Mountain-5 mi.-Sleeps 18
Modern Chalet - Open floor plan with cathedral ceiling. Most rental's require that you leave by a certain time in the morning. As you can expect, most are weekend rentals. If the house is not rented immediately after, We often extend the period (in most cases) to 6pm so that you have the entire day to enjoy your stay. This allows the non-outdoor sports participants to use or the skiers/boarders/snowmobilers/bikers not to use to rush to clean the home prior to departure. The hot water system is an on-demand electric system. As long as there is electricity, it will run forever but only two showers or less at the same time else cold splashes will occur. Also, towels are included but bed linens are not and $180 is included in your price quote. If you have less than 9 beds or would like to bring your own sheets, ask me for a credit for your offer. If you need more than 10 beds, I reduce it to $15 each. Linen fee is included but can be reduced-the VRBO pricing model is not very flexible. Slightly lower rates for parties of 5 or less. Located five miles from Burke Mountain and Kingdom Trails. Kingdom Trails are 100's of miles of nordic ski and biking trails. On VAST snowmobile trail. Snowmobile shed has electricity. Great stay! Easily sleeps 15 people with comfort and ease. Only a 10-15 minute drive to Burke Mountain so great for a skiing or mountain biking getaway. Very spacious and clean and the hosts were very accommodating for our check in/check out process.
The property was nice, with plenty of bedrooms and beds, as well as bathrooms to suit a large party. Though we spent most of our time traveling in Vermont, the property is spacious enough to just hang out if you wanted.
This large The property is perfect to have a fire pit, the owner even had someone deliver wood for a small fee! We loved our stay here, Matt was attentive and helpful the entire time we were there!
Our family just returned from an amazing stay. The house is large, spacious and relaxed. The views are just amazing, the yard is so fun to sled on, the stores are close, and Matt was wonderful to work with. Look forward to making the an annual event!
The house is perfectly located for snowmobiling/ skiing and snowboarding trip. Plenty of room for all, we had 3 families. Matt is great to deal with he provided plenty of information and was very helpful with everything. I would recommend this house to anyone visiting the area.
House worked great for our team during a race series at Burke - and at the last minute. Plenty of room for 13 of us. We double bunked a few, but in the many king size beds, not an issue. Matt was very responsive with questions and check-in/out was very simple.
We had a very pleasant stay with another friend’s family. This place is very quiet and pretty for relaxing! The beautiful view and star-filled night sky are absolutely impressive! The house could get very hot on a sunny summer day without AC. though. Other than that, everything is just perfect!
Walls of glass - killer view is definitely the right way to explain it. The views of the ski slope were amazing. This house was just what my group needed. It was right on the snowmobile trail system and when we were at the house, we got to enjoy the view of the ski slopes, and the surrounding mountains. Matt, the owner, was so easy to contact. The house was spacious. You could either hang out in the great room with everyone, or you could find a quiet place to be on your own. We had a great time!

Awesome House!
This place is excellent! We have stayed in East Burke for 4 years now and this is the first time in this house. Without question we will be back next year if it's available. The views are amazing - full stop. We could see both the sunrise and the sunset from the yard. Plenty of rooms in the house, and the kitchen was very spacious for our group. Living room had 3 couches which gave us plenty of room to relax.
Also, Matt (owner) was super-responsive and very easy to talk with. Highly recommended all around.
This property is in a beautiful location. It has magnificent views of mountains and the sunset. The house however is a work in progress but for now is not suitable for families.
The basement is musty with a dehumidifier that is not set up therefore we were not able to use the lower bedrooms. We improvised and squeezed into the 3 upper bedrooms. This caused additional confusion since there was a last minute change and the sheets were not included.
There was some exposed wiring and limited hot water. The upper bath faucet had no hot water.
Dining area was small for our group of 11 with one fridg not working properly so I am not sure how 18 could manage, yet beware of additional guest charges.
With some care and updates i could see this being a nice place to stay
We were so fortunate to lock into this location after a previous reservation was canceled extremely last minute. We came for the eclipse, and the location was absolutely breathtaking for it! The views are incredible. The property is wonderful. It’s so quiet! Very, very very close to Burke Mountain for skiing, the home is very comfortable. A lot of beds. There is a bit of temperature issue in the bedrooms upstairs. One bedroom was very comfortable. The other got very hot until we turned the heat off. No A/C, but fortunately we didn’t need it. The basement room is a bit musty but very comfortable.
Hot water is very limited so much so that running the dishwasher and one shower depletes it until it refills.
The kitchen was extremely well stocked with just about every pot, pan, utensil, dish, bowl, knife you could ever need! Two fridges were extremely convenient! Dishwasher worked well and the garbage disposal and trash compacted were great perks.
The host was extremely welcoming and generous and very quick with responding to questions.
We definitely would stay again.
The view was just amazing. This home is very comfortable, but we did run into some problems. When we arrived, we had to vacuum and sweep the main floor. Crumbs, dirt, and ants were all over. We didn't move the sofas but there was a lot of dirt under them. I am sure I paid a cleaning fee! The basement was very musty, and you could not sleep down there. That should not be considered a sleeping area. We did bring queen air mattresses, so we were ok. Dishwasher did not work. furnace was powered off so we could not use it. Coffee pot leaked coffee all over the counter. Refrigerators were dirty, silverware trays and cupboards were dirty and very disorganized. We had to first wash whatever we used from the cupboards. Sheets and towels were not included unless you paid a fee for them! We brought our own! Bathrooms and bedrooms were the only clean areas. Everyone had a great time, and we are not complaining but the home was not up to Vrbo quality. Renters should know! Not sure if anyone monitors these rentals but they should.

I usually point out that the document travelers agree to when the initially book has additional towel and linen fees but forgot to with this guest. Two weeks before their stay, I pointed this out, explaining that I eliminated the towel charge and would discount the linen fee by 33%.
They chose to bring their own and given the several loads of laundry my cleaner didn't bill me for, I was happy.
I very much disagree that the main floor and dishes were unclean-disorganized, she has a point. Sorry you aren't going to be a multi-year guest like many people who stay with me. Thanks for leaving the place in good condition and glad you were able to use the early check-in and late check-out times.

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy

This house was incredible. We had a group of 16, and it slept 18 easily in beds. It had a fantastic view of the mountains in Vermont, which gave us great morning views and sunset views in the evening. The sky's opened up and we had a great look at some meteor showers at night. Plenty of kitchen space and fridge space for a large group, and a billiards table is always a bonus! Matt was easy to talk to and accommodating. Even though I misunderstood the listing that said towels and sheets are extra, Matt was understanding and was easy to work with to resolve the situation. I would definitely go back, this is one of the best places I have ever rented. Highly recommend for a fun weekend away!
We had a great stay - house was big enough for multiple families and very convenient for daily skiing at Burke. Very good communication with the owner.
This property was great! Matt the owner made sure our check in was smooth, the place had plenty of room for our large group. The views were breath taking especially with the fall colors. 5 minutes drive to the riding trails. We could have biked but it would have been a big hill at end of day. Happy we found this place and will definitely return in the future.
Great property, and the setting could not be better. Great communication, and the kitchen had all you needed and then some. Matt was great to work with. I highly recommend a stay!! I will definitely be back again !!
The house was amazing and the owner too! Very flexible and friendly

About the host

My mom and dad loved Burke and the Northeast Kingdom. My dad was an Aeronautical Engineer at Pratt and Whitney —(A United Technologies (UTX) company). They searched for about two years for “a view”. In 1995 they located the prize property. He designed the home and construction began two years later. He designed and oversaw the construction of the house you are considering renting.
Why they chose this property
The house was built with 360 degree views. Northern winters and western winds necessitated the planting of 250 trees on the west side for a windbreak. The trees are now about 40’ tall and protect the house. The house is about one mile off Rt 5, five miles from Burke Mountain and seven miles from Exit 22 on Rt. 91. At the top of the paved (yes that’s how the locals knew my parents were “flatlanders”) 100 yard driveway there is parking for about 10 cars including two indoors under the house.
What makes this property unique
Should power go out, a full-house generator was installed in December 2012.
