To ensure that our cozy cabin will be suitable for your trip, we like to get these important considerations for any guests considering booking our property out of the way first:
- The cabin is located in a VERY quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Quiet hours of 9PM-7AM are strictly enforced. - No smoking of any type is permitted on the property, inside or outside. - No pets or animals are permitted. - Occupancy is strictly limited to guests on the reservation, with a maximum of 6. - The smaller room has one King sized bed, the larger bedroom has two Queen beds.
Whether you're looking for a romantic, cozy getaway for two or a fun family or group retreat for up to 6, you will fall in love with this sweet lakeside cabin!
Planning a winter retreat? Bring your skis, ice skates or snow shoes! Snow machines are permitted in the winter months, and ATVs are also welcome in the area. Private pilot? You are welcome to fly in here at Blodgett Lake Seaplane Base!
Visiting in the summer months? Go jump in the lake - enjoy fishing, swimming, paddling, or wading. Spend our long summer days out on the water in one of the kayaks or paddleboards available for guest use. Life jackets for all sizes are available and encouraged. Want to bring your own watercraft? Our lake allows motors up to 10HP.
Expect wildlife viewing and interaction! A trumpeter swan family calls our lake home, along with lots of ducks, geese, loons, and the occasional moose may wander through. Bears are not extremely common, but we always encourage visitors to be prepared for any and all wildlife encounters, it is Alaska, after all!
Blodgett Lake is also home to rainbow trout and pike, and salmon come to spawn along the shoreline right in front of the cabin in the fall.
After your day of relaxing and enjoying the lake views, spend some time in the hot tub (available year-round!) under the stars or, if you're lucky, catch the dancing beauty of the northern lights. Lady Aurora is unbelievable here with minimal lighting to disrupt her gorgeous glow!
While our cabin is tucked away and feels like a private getaway from the rest of the world, it's located just about a one hour drive from Anchorage in the Meadow Lakes area of the picturesque Matanuska Susitna Valley.
Groceries, coffee, gasoline, and even pizza delivery are all nearby. We've included everything you need for an easy retreat, including a starter kit of essential toiletries. However, if you are inclined to stay in touch with the office or the outside world, you'll appreciate the high speed WiFi. **Please note, guests may use their own login information to utilize the streaming service of their choice on the WiFi TV, we do not have cable.**

What an amazing house to stay when away from home. It was warm and welcoming. The location was ideal for all the sights we wanted to see and the things we wanted to do. We plan to be back!
This is the second time we stayed at this wonderful little cabin and it was just as great the second time. We stayed in late March, early April and snow was still everywhere. My kids loved playing on the frozen lake, looking for our daily visit from a bald eagle, waking up to moose on the lake, the beautiful sunsets from the hot tub and our daily breakfasts together. The location is ideal. It’s not far south from Talkeetna for dog sledding and Denali is just 3 hours away. Hatcher’s Pass is only about 45 minutes northeast of the cabin. Portage is a couple hours away where you can go snow machining to glaciers, visit the Arctic Wildlife Conservation Center, or stop off in Girdwood for the Alyeska Resort for some top notch skiing/snowboarding. Anchorage is only about an hour south if you want to check out the Turnagain Arm and the Cook Inlet. Ice fishing is available all around Wasilla as well. Although technically in Meadow Lakes, Wasilla has plenty of grocery stores and restaurants including a Fred Meyer (Kroger owned) and a Walmart. We highly recommend this wonderful cabin and would love to visit yet again.

What a thoughtful and flattering review! So glad you had a wonderful time. Thank you so much for choosing our place for your stay, we hope you'll come back soon!
First time to Alaska and this was a great location for what we wanted to do. Beautiful little cabin on the lake with hot tub and wood stove. Would stay again.
We usually come up in June to help our sister with the Highland Games in Palmer, last year was our last to volunteer. Your home was lovely we so enjoyed watching the birds & enjoying the deck. My grandsons & famlies live in Chickaloon and Wasilla so they came over to visit us one evening.
Wonderful experience, very clean and functional. Perfect winter wonderland getaway for our honeymoon. Close to town, but not right up on people. Would totally stay here again!! Top notch customer service as well!
What a gem! The house is located on a quiet lake on the outskirts of Wasilla near Big Lake. We enjoyed waking up in the morning and enjoying a cup of coffee looking over the serene lake. We look forward to staying here in the future.
The cabin was clean and comfortable. Our complaint is the large deck area was absolutely covered with debris and pollen from surrounding trees. The hot tub was also very dirty filled with debris.
Our family enjoyed this place over all the places we stayed throughout Alaska. It was fully equipped with everything we needed (except fishing gear) bring your own. The guys caught fish, we enjoyed the outside on the great deck, hot tub and eating outside overlooking the lake. Very relaxing and just what we needed. Sorry our stay there wasn't longer. Would def go back again.
Our stay at the cabin was great. It had everything we needed. We relaxed in the hot tub after using the paddle boards. The patio area overlooking the lake is so relaxing and a perfect way to wind down after a long day. We had a question for Shanna, the host, and got an answer right away. Overall great experience!
We had the greatest time. Everything was so clean and looked EXACTLY like the photos, which is SO rare. We will for sure be staying again. The hot tub and outside recreational area is amazing. The paddle boards were a blast to get out on. We had the most fun. Everything was easy to work and well explained out. The host was so pleasant and easy to talk to. Communication was always fast and pleasant. Best experience.
The views are priceless! the hot tub came in handy after hiking and four wheeling all day. The kayaks kept the teen busy when mom and dad wanted to relax and unwind. Everything you need and some things you didn’t think you would need. Instructions are clear, and welcoming. Really enjoyed the wood burning stove. Very generous with wood and fire starters. Had an amazing time.
