The view is stunning. Enjoyed sitting in the hot tub overlooking the mountains. Could also sit in the living room and gaze over the mountains. We were welcomed with a bowl of large berry muffins and fruit. Deb was very responsive to my questions. I didn’t read close enough of the description to realize there wasn’t a cooking range but we made due with the grill and griddle outside. That was my fault for not reading the property description. We enjoyed our stay.
Host was very attentive and there were sweet little personal touches! You’re greeted with your name at the door and amazing home baked goodies! Stay was amazing will be recommending to friends and family. Can not wait to stay here again!
I would definitely recommend this lodging. Everything was perfect. Beds comfortable, plenty of blankets and towels, and the homemade muffins were delicious.

REVIEWER: Please indicate which item was not relevant to the stay/mention the propertyWe were disappointed with this VRBO:1) Hot tub (main reason we picked this one & why we hurried to arrive first night) was not hot the first night (owner initially stated they had only changed the water "a few hours ago" & then said it was changed "this morning" but the "circuit tripped"...)2) Homeowners in unit above were loud (TV volume high, loud footsteps, dogs barking & scampering across hardwood floors)3) Recliners did not recline (are electric & can't reach outlets in middle of room)4) Connection to Netflix did not work (homeowner said it was a password issue, but it was a connection issue)5) Kitchen did not have the basics we expect6) While walking to our car, owners two dogs barked menacingly at us and one jumped up and clamped his teeth onto my coat sleeve -- thankfully not my arm & didn't let go until i kneed him gently in the stomach. The owners watched & attempted to call the dog to them. I am not afraid of dogs, but this would've been scary for someone who was.7) Owners entered our unit while we were out without notice/reason (I know because a padlock on an inside door was hanging open when we arrived & was locked when we returned)What we did like:1) The view from the hot tub (once it was finally hot enough to use)2) The gas fireplace in the living room was cozy3) Water pressure in shower was goodWould not recommend this owner-occupied VRBO to others.

This is a shocking and undeserved review especially when Sara’s husband was verbally very complimentary. We consistently get excellent reviews that have established our superhost status. We are sad and sorry that we couldn’t meet this guest’s expectations
Incredibly beautiful location!! The hot tub with the view was definitely the highlight. The host was awesome washing towels and taking out garbage mid visit. Super quiet with the sweetest dogs.

We stayed here for a night after a nearby wedding. Gorgeous view and awesome property. Had everything we needed, was just here with friends but would be a great spot for family/kids as well.
Nice house, wonderful hosts & nice continental breakfast surprise. Majestic view out the back. Wish we had stayed longer to enjoy more of the local restaurants and use hot tub.If traveling in summer bring a sleep mask!!
If you want to feel at home, this is the place to stay! You can feel the love put into this home. Clean, comfy, and homey feel. Plenty of room for our family of 6 and large SUV. We will definitely return when we are in town again.

We enjoyed a relaxing couple of days at the Mountain View Retreat. We enjoyed the snacks (especially the muffins) and relaxing in the hot tub while enjoying the view. We checked out a couple of the restaurants the host recommended, and were pleased with both. The space was just right for our family of four, and we appreciated the cozy fireplace to take the chill off of rainy fall days. The beds were comfortable and plenty of towels were provided for both showering and the hot tub. The location was safe and blissfully quiet!
We flew into Anchorage and then stayed here in order to set ourselves up for a nice day trip to Talkeetna and back the next day, before heading to the peninsula for the rest of our 10 days in Alaska. The hosts were kind, the views were incredible, the space just right for what we were doing.

About the host

Thanks for booking our property. We truly love having people in our home. Dave currently serves at the Alaska Bible College and Deb teaches piano and manages the rooms and we both love dogs (Goldens and basset hounds). We also love the great hiking and biking in Alaska and just love that you have chosen our place to stay. Enjoy the beautiful view and the complimentary muffins and fruit as you relax at our place.
Why they chose this property
Its view!!!! We love Wasilla and all that it has to offer: grocery stores, a variety of places to eat, beautiful places to explore.
What makes this property unique
It is one hour from Ted Stevens International Airport and almost 2.5 hours to Denali. Its a short drive into Wasilla for food and delicious eating but half a mile to Three Bears for some pick up food or groceries/gas. Right around the corner is one of the best restaurants in the area, Settlers Bay Lodge and golf course. The space we offer is reasonably priced and has a large private area for guests to kick back and relax. The bedrooms are comfortable and the gas fireplace makes for a cozy space to relax after a long day of traveling and exploring. The mini kitchen is perfect for some light cooking with a grill outside to cook your fresh salmon
