Explore the hiking and biking trails that wind through the area in Sequoia Forest. From peaceful walks under towering Redwoods to challenging mountain routes, there’s something for every level of adventurer. Breathe in the fresh mountain air and listen to the creek running nearby.

Down in the valley, Lake Isabella offers sandy beaches and a variety of watersports. Kernville, a historic movie location with museums, old-time saloons, unique shops, and restaurants, is also a favorite destination for fishing and rafting.

At an elevation of about 6,000 ft, check your weather app for up-to-date mountain conditions.

Parking is about 60 yards from the cabin. A wooden railing guides you from the street down the path to the house. There are two access points: one on level ground and another via a wooden stairway.

Alta Sierra Ski Resort: 8 minutes

Kernville (restaurants, museums, antiques, shops, supermarket): 20 minutes

Lake Isabella (watersports, kayaking and swimming): 15 minutes

Nearest supermarket, bars, and gas station: 15 minutes

Nearest hospital (Kern Valley Hospital): 30+ minutes

Nearest clinic (Kern River Health Center): 12 minutes

Kern River Valley Art Association (art gallery and gift shop): 15 minutes

Other things to note:
Alta Sierra is a high fire-risk area, so bonfires and open flames are not permitted. However, you’re welcome to use the gas grill on the open deck. On chilly days or in the evenings, enjoy the crackle of logs in the woodstove — plenty of firewood is provided.

Wild animals sometimes visit the property. Please do not disturb them.

Winter Getaway

We had a wonderful time at this cosy, nicely equipped cabin. My husband, our daughter, and I all enjoyed the rustic setting--not hard to get to, but in a very peaceful neighborhood. It was very easy to get to Alta Sierra and nearby areas for snow activities. We hope to come back in the future!

Family Time

The cabin had what we needed. It was nice to unplug for the weekend. We rented kid friendly movies from the local redbox and took kid appropriate games.
