The perfect hideaway!

  • 4 of 5

Gardenhouse was the perfect little hub in Amsterdam - well equipped, spacious, clean and very comfortable. Charlotte made our stay very easy with clear communication and understanding when our train had major delays. The place itself is in a great location and it was very easy to walk to all of Amsterdam's sights. We cannot stress how beautiful the place was, and clean! We absolutely loved the space and would definitely stay again in a heartbeat!

A Cozy True Home

  • 5 of 5

In our trips my husband and i, we prefer to stay in places no luxury and with accessible cost but something special and different than a traditional hotel.

In "Gardenhouse" we found this and much more.

It's a place where we return at the end of the afternoon crossing by the beautiful garden and where we could relax, enjoy good music, prepare our dinner with tasty things we have already bought near there and plan the program for the next day.

Charlotte, the owner, and her neighbor, Ig, were very kind and left us at home.

Amsterdam is a wonderful city and Prinsengracht it's coolest street.

We left Amsterdam and our "Gardenhouse" happy and satisfied.

We only have to thanks Charlotte who lended us these cheerful and indelible moments.

Fantastique !

  • 5 of 5

Encore merci à Charlotte qui nous a facilité ce voyage ;

Jahrhundert

  • 5 of 5

A comfortable and cosy stay.

  • 5 of 5

When contacting Charlotte the owner she was very quick to respond, and extremely helpful.

The gardenhouse is very comfortable, and we enjoyed the country-feel of the space in the city. The walk into the main part of town is very easy - and very pretty - and you get to pass over many lovely bridges, discover cafes and restaurants and the walk to the popular museums is very easy too. Highly recommended for its location in the city.

The travel from the airport is very easy, and tram number 4 is the nearest one to the gardenhouse.

The bed on the mezzanine level is very comfortable, and the space (for us two) was perfect. The kitchen was well-equipped for breakfast and light meals, with a fridge (easily stocked from the supermarket round the corner) and pots, pans, toaster, kettle, cups, plates and bowls are all provided - and towels for the shower room and sink too.

There is a good size dining table, and outdoor table and chairs too (in the photos) and we felt very safe and welcomed into the house. There are guidebooks that have been left, and these great walking map cards in a little box that someone previously has left - these were very handy as little maps to walk around with.

We spent most of our time out of the house, but it was a lovely place to come back to at the end of the day, and it isn't too far to stop back in during the day if you needed to, as we did once to drop some things off.

I would highly recommend this house for a couple (or perhaps three as there is another smaller mezzanine with a single bed), however the stairs up to the mezzanine levels are a bit steep, but perfectly manageable.

There is enough space for a comfortable stay (we were there four nights) and Charlotte was very accommodating. For the two of us she lent her museum passes which we were able to use to save on entrance fees, which was so very kind.

I would certainly stay in the gardenhouse again (hopefully soon!) when we next take a trip to Amsterdam.

Thank you Charlotte!

Great Bachelor/Studio - @ front

  • 5 of 5

AMAZING - Truly cannot say enough.

There were so many great things about this little apartment- including Charlotte! The location can not be beat. In the middle between the hub of the tourist area and the museum, don't forget the large market. There is an incredible cafe on the corner on the way to the grocery store... this is a must! The Albert Hein grocery around the corner is also perfect for - good food, plus beer and wine. There is also a great natural health food store near there as well! We used both! Charlotte providing her museum card saves sooo much money.

The little bachelor or studio at the front, was perfect for my husband and I - just the right about of space. It was incredible to sit on the bench or look out the window and see the real locals going about their day. Made us truly appreciate the area and the town.

Must do's in the area:

- Cafe on the corner walking right from the rental

- pub walking out and to the left - with the lights and near the kids play area.

- new Europe walking tours - really get you familiar with the area.

- WALK EVERYWHERE - its an incredible area and just wonder around

- museums

-big market north of the rental (can't remember name- in all guide books)
