AMAZING GRACE, Amazing Beach, Amazing Vistas and Amazing Sunsets! Our home at Oak Island, NC awaits your rest and recreation!

Come and enjoy our colorful, relaxing and comfortable home just steps away from the ocean at one of America's best beaches. USA Today's May 25, 2012 travel feature named Oak Island one of 51 GREAT AMERICAN BEACHES.....NORTH CAROLINA: "The state's coastline is one long, 300 mile beach: The trick is finding a stretch that's not so remote you have to bring your own drinking water, or so over run by T-shirt huts and putt-putts that you want to flee. Oak Island, south of Wilmington, has a nice blend of basic amenities and miles of open beach. There's great kayaking on the sound side, a transportation system friendly to bikes, and small town atmosphere."

The views across the sound from the screened porch include the masts of sailing yachts and the raised nets of shrimp trawlers navigating the Intracoastal Waterway. Flocks of graceful pelicans dot the skies of both the sound and the beach.

When variety of activity beckons, look no farther than a 10 block walk or a quick drive to the Blue Water Point Marina. Check out the catch of the day or slide your boat into the Lockwood Folly Inlet East Channel at the public boat ramp. A dinner at the Marina's Fish House Restaurant will be a treat you will long remember. Stay through the evening and catch a marsh view sunset or return to Amazing Grace and catch the end of the day from the sunset deck. OKI....the all seasons retreat!

Arrival is available at 3:00 pm and departure is by 10:00 am. Summer season rentals are weekly from Saturday to Saturday. We are flexible for day in/out arrangements for rentals during the other seasons.

About Jim Britt

We enjoyed transitioning this home after we became owners. Lisa, an interior designer with a reputation of creating warm and comfortable spaces, brought her touch to Amazing Grace. Jim is a consultant, coach, author and speaker for stakeholders in benefits, insurance and risk management. We enjoy our visits here with family and friends for rest and recreation. Come share the home with your family or friends for a refreshing change of pace at one of the Atlantic's most beautiful beaches.

Jim Britt purchased this house in 2004

Why Jim Britt chose Southern Coast

We have always been drawn to the Carolinas beaches. Lisa was raised in South Carolina and Jim adopted the Carolinas as home from his collegiate days. After visiting many beaches through the years, we sought to find the quiet family beach that offered a balance of best natural qualities at the best value. After being introduced to Oak Island properties in the Fall of 2003, we made our investment in 2004. We have upgraded Amazing Grace with one or more projects each year and look forward to many visits with our children, grandchildren and friends.

What makes this house unique

Amazing Grace is at the quiet Kings Lynn west-end 'Point' of OKI where you feel like you're at a private beach. The ocean and sound vistas are superb and the sunsets are breathtaking. Boaters have access to a public ramp at the Blue Water Point Marina. From there, it's a quick trip to the Intracoastal waterway or the open water through the Lockwood Folly Inlet. Surf, pier and charter fishing are available on the Island. Those who love to browse for antiques will enjoy historic Southport.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful time! Great food, fun and fellowship. Amazing Grace is absolutely a blessing. We will be back next year!

Kings Lynn is a lovely neighborhood with a comfortable mix of permanent and guest residences. The traffic on both Kings Lynn Drive and West Beach Drive is minimal. Our guests will feel like they're at their own vacation home.

My husband, our dog (pre-approved by the owners), and his parents spent a long spring break weekend at Amazing Grace and we couldn't have been more comfortable. Each room was beautifully decorated, the kitchen was well-appointed, and the house's location near the point on Oak Island was perfect. The shelling on the beach was good--we even found a couple whole conchs. We particularly enjoyed the living room, which was extremely comfortable for visiting, reading, or watching television. You could tell the owners put a great deal of care into decorating the cottage so it didn't feel like a rental but someone's lovely home. We couldn't have been happier with our stay and the flexibility of the owners when we asked to add an extra day at the last minute. All in all we had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this property for groups like ours or a larger group, as the home had plenty of space (note that the "kids" bedroom now has bunk beds and therefore sleeps 5 even though the photo shows it sleeps 3). The included linen package was also much appreciated and the sheets, bath towels, and kitchen towels were of nice quality.

Great Family Time!

  • 5 of 5

We were very comfortable during our Easter weekend stay at the Britt's "Amazing Grace." We had great family time. The location on the West end of Oak Island is very private and low traffic. Also, short walk to the beach. Anyone would appreciate how the cottage is decorated; we loved it!

Lovely home

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Amazing Grace. We celebrated a 50th birthday with the whole family. The home was spacious enough for our group to be very comfortable, and the home was prettier than in the pictures. I loved the painted furniture pieces! We also had great weather for November! We loved the easy access to the beach. The kitchen was well supplied for preparing meals for a crowd, and we enjoyed being able to bring our little dog along. Thanks for opening your lovely home to us. We would definitely recommend your home to others.

Lovely home and wonderful experience

  • 5 of 5

We love it here! You won't go wrong renting this home. The owners have taken care of everything. The beds are made when you arrive, fresh towels are there and departure maid service is included. The house is as advertised, even better! The kitchen is well-equipped, beds are comfortable, there is a variety of books, games and puzzles, 3 tvs with dvds, stereo system that plays CDs in the living room. The views are lovely and there are several living areas (screen porch, living room, upstairs den and decks) to have some private time or gather as a group. The home is thoughtfully and tastefully decorated and well-organized with amenities including h/c outside shower, enough toiletries to ghet you through the first day or so, fireplace (for off season). Prepare to just settle in, relax and enjoy yourselves. We had 3 adults and 5 children (one in a pack and play) and there was plenty of room. The owner was quick to respond to all of my questions. Easy beach access and close to the point for great shelling. Don't miss dinner at the Fish House at the marina. go early, it's small and gets crowded. I also recommend a day of shopping the quaint shops in Southport and my husband drove an hour to SC border to buy fireworks. The new bridge has cut down on travel time. We hope to rent for 2 weeks next summer! Final note: while they allow pets, the home does not have any unpleasant pet odors, stains, etc.

Owner's Response: This joyful feedback about experiences at Amazing Grace, the Blue Water Point Marina Fish House and Southport sounds much like that our extended family and friends share with us when they visit us there. We will have our first family Pack-N-Play visitor soon when our new (June 9) grandson in Charlotte makes his first visit.

Amazing Grace, what a lovely place.

Dear Jim & Melissa,

Just want you to know how much we enjoyed our stay in your cozy home by the sea. What a contrast to the Jersey shore. We have also vacationed in the Outerbanks and can say that N.C. definitely has some of the most beautiful beaches. We loved the peace and quiet, the nature sounds, the friendly neighbors, and the clean beach. What an awesome place for families to rejuvenate. Did not miss the hustle and bustle of boadwalks and such. Loved the close proximity to the beach and being able to see the ocean. Our little dog Vinny really appreciated that you are dog friendly. It was so cool to see so many dogs on the beach. We will be in touch, we are truly impressed with the area. Thank you for sharing your home.
