Villa, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps up to 6)
When I'm not traveling, I live in San Diego, CA and love cooking and playing tennis. I work as an independent contractor for a technology company that develops digital ordering systems for the restaurant industry. I have been traveling to the Caribbean since I was really young for vacations with my parents and have always loved it.
Sue purchased this Villa in 2010
Why Sue chose Estate Smith Bay
I love the Caribbean climate, laid back lifestyle, slower pace -- and rum punch ;-) The great thing about Belle Caribe is that the view is beautiful and always changing - you don't just stare out at the water - you'll see the sunrise, moon rise, rainbows, islands, boats, cloud formations - and feel the tradewind breeze.
What makes this Villa unique
Super location - close to everything St. Thomas has to offer - one of the newer villa rentals on the island and very well maintained with a fully equipped kitchen. There will not be enough hours during your vacation to spend looking at this view!

We had the best time staying at belle caribe. It was the best experience and the house had everything we could ask for from beach towels to cooking supplies. We were never without anything. Sue was so helpful in giving us so much information about the island and the house. Curlson, who meet us at the airport, was fantastic. He showed us everything we needed to know about the house and told us some great history about the island.
I would definitely recommend belle caribe to any friends heading to St Thomas. The location of the house made it an excellent choice.
Perfect Spot for Vacation
Everything was as advertised. The property manager, the property owner stayed in touch and were available. The house was perfect for our family and the view was absolutely amazing. We had everything we needed to enjoy everything on the island.
Perfect Island Experience
We stayed at this property from June 23rd to July 3rd of 2019. Before we even got there Sue was in contact with us and letting us know what to expect. She had a taxi ready for us at the airport and they took us to the house. Curlson was fantastic and showed us the house and ran down the list of rules. The home was super clean and exactly as it was posted on the home away sight. We had one minor maintenance issue while we were there and it was resolved in a matter of hours. The sound system they had provided for great night's of music and fun. It seemed to be a quiet part of the island but we had everything we needed really close including the ferry to St John's. We could not have asked for a better place to stay and the view was amazing. The home had everything we needed to cook our own meals, they had beach towels and chairs. We cannot say enough good things about the whole experience. Don't bother going anywhere else because Belle Caribe is the place to be. You will not be disappointed at all. Thank you to Sue and her supporting team for a wonderful time.
Spectacular Views and a VERY Well Equipped Home!!
We would recommend this property to anyone and everyone and will stay there again as we travel frequently to St Thomas. We travel frequently and stay in many very nice places. This one is indeed a gem.
You walk into this house and you have sweeping views of dozens of islands. The sunrises and sunset views are great and it became a tradition to sit on the balcony with cocktails and watch the sky, water, and islands change before our eyes as the sun went down.
The home is very well equipped... From nice pans to utensils to spices to everthing. One literally only need buy food. No need for paper products or soaps or anything else. For day trips there are coolers, chairs, and beach towels.
The outdoor and indoor furnishings are very comfortable and overall, the place is kept in "new" condition. The owner Sue is very responsive re: questions and advice! We will return!!
The perfect property
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. You definitely have a wow moment walking in given the high ceilings, full wall of glass and the view. We spent hours on the deck and saw lots of sunsets and sunrises. The bedrooms and bathrooms were lovely. It was well equipped. We looked at lots of villas with pools/hot tubs/farther off the beaten path but I'm so glad we chose this one as we spent most of our time exploring the island. It is perfectly situated to the East End restaurants, ferries to St. John, marinas for boat rentals/jet skis, etc. Curlton and Sue were very accommodating. I can recommend this rental unconditionally.
Could not be more perfect!!
Everything said in other reviews is completely accurate and I’m not sure what more I can say, except that if I could move in I would! From all Sue’s communication pre-trip, to Curlson’s airport pickup, to the spectacular view, wonderful furnishings, stocked kitchen, beach gear, it really is a home away from home. I hope to come back often. Only negative is the death defying right turn at the stop light top of the hill coming from Red Hook. That I could do without!
Here are some suggestions for your stay in St. Thomas! We have a lot of fun and do a lot of relaxing. Here are some of our favorite things to do (besides having coffee out on the deck in the morning and drinks and dinner out there in the evening!).
Secret Harbor -This is a very picturesque little harbor only about 5 minutes from the house, plus there are an outdoor shower and bathrooms. You can pack a cooler with some drinks and take the beach chairs to Secret Harbor Beach Resort. All beaches on St. Thomas are public, the resorts just charge a fee if you want to use their chairs, umbrellas or sporting equipment. You can go snorkeling or rent paddle boards. There's also a beach bar and restaurant there, and sunset is beautiful there!
Sapphire Beach - at the Sapphire Beach Resort, just about 10 minutes from the house. The water is usually pretty calm here too, and it's nice for snorkeling. There is a reef toward the right and a grassy area out toward the left. It's a bit of a kick out but you'll almost always see turtles in the grassy area. Lots of fish around the reef area. We bring crackers or bread and feed the cute ducks on the beach and the fish by the shore. The resort has a special parking lot for people coming to the beach. They also have a little kiosk near the beach where you can get drinks and snacks.
Smith Bay Bay Beach/Lindquist - gorgeous water and not crowded at all, still mostly a locals' beach and just a few minutes from the house. Sometimes the water can be a little rougher here but very nice and quiet.
Magen’s Bay Beach – the most famous beach on St. Thomas, about 20 minutes from the house. When you arrive and go through the gate (there is a small fee) turn to the left and follow the road to the parking toward the other end of the beach. It is much quieter. Most people just stop and park by the gate where the facilities are so it can get a bit crowded there. The other end is much quieter, and it’s a beautiful walk down the beach if you want to rent a paddle board or go to the snack/beach bar. On the way back stop at Famous Delite/Udder Delite for some ice cream and great milkshakes.
Water Island - Actually another of the Virgin Islands. You can take a ferry from Tickles Restaurant in Crown Bay, just takes a few minutes, over to Honeymoon Beach. Very pretty beach, nice and calm and there are 2 beach restaurants. One of them has a shuttle from the ferry dock up over the hill if you don't want to walk.
Watch the cruise ships leave from the Mafolie - The Mafolie is a hotel up on a hill in Charlotte Amalie. They have a restaurant and bar with a great view for watching the cruise ships leave. It's really neat as the light fades to see them pulling out and disappearing in the horizon. We usually just have drinks there and an appetizer. Dinner has never been that great, but we haven't eaten there in awhile.
Lunch at Cuzzins' in Charlotte Amalie - Cuzzins' is on Back Street. The food is West Indian and really good. We like the conch and shrimp creole, sometimes it's not on the menu so we ask.
Charter a boat for a day - When you charter a private boat they require you take a captain, and it's best since there are reefs and the captains know the waters. You could stop at Christmas Cove and some pretty spots around St. John that you would not be able to reach otherwise by car. The boats do have canopies so there is shade.
We use See and Ski or Vilocity. Whichever you use, please let them know you are staying at Dewey & Sue's place, Belle Caribe.
See and Ski
Red Hook - American Yacht Harbor - 'A' Dock
Schnitzel House Marina
Take the car ferry and spend the day on St. John - Trunk Bay is the most famous, and beautiful with an underwater snorkel trail and facilities. Our favorite beach is Maho Bay, incredibly calm and good snorkeling to the right around the rocks. Pack up the beach chairs, cooler, lunch and snorkel gear. On the way back stop in Cruz Bay and do some shopping.
Reef Bay Hike, St. John - There is a guided tour the Park Service does a couple days a week (you need to make reservations), which is nice because the Park guide tells you about all the different plants, you see petroglyphs and nice ruins of a sugar mill. At the bottom you end up on the beach at Reef Bay and they have a boat take you back around the island so you get to see a bit of the outside of St. John from the water. You can also do this hike on your own but then you have to hike back up the trail.
