About the property

Villa, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps up to 6)

Belle Caribe captures the old-world charm of the Danish Caribbean in a modern villa. The stained glass sunrise over the front door welcomes you to relax and enjoy this home built to frame the view that will truly take your breath away. Perched on the hillside overlooking Pillsbury Sound with views toward St. John across to Jost Van Dyke and down through the British Virgin Islands - you’ll feel on top of the world. You won’t want to miss a single sunrise, and you’ll be on deck for every sunset!

Make yourself at home . . . From the main living area with its high open-beam ceiling, you will be drawn to the panoramic view through the triple glass door archways. Choose from three living spaces – the colorful indoor great room, the large covered furnished open living area or the long open deck.

Ease into the day . . . Sip your morning coffee or tea on the comfy sofa in the outdoor living area. If you’re not quite ready for a day of activity, relax on one of the lounge chairs outside with a book, keep an eye on the boats sailing in the bay and refresh yourself at your leisure with one of the two outdoor showers.

Eat, drink & be merry . . . Whether you’re blending an island concoction, doing the prep or just entertaining the chef you will not have to miss the view. The open gourmet kitchen is complete with granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances and a large island/bar perfect for relaxed gathering and entertaining.

Unwind . . . Watch the sky change from dusk to dark as the boats return to dock while sipping drinks at the café table on the deck. Dine at the indoor dining table, in the outdoor living area or on deck - it’s up to you.

Your own space . . . spend restful nights in the bedrooms painted in soothing Caribbean colors, with queen-size beds, arched lattice top doorways and ceiling fans that keep the cool trade wind breezes flowing. Each bedroom has its own full bath with mosaic or painted tiles. Two of the bedrooms open onto their own porches through French doors.

Away from it all yet just stone’s throw . . . Belle Caribe is situated 320 feet above sea level with a commanding view from the Atlantic to the Caribbean, on the East End of St. Thomas, conveniently located 5 minutes from Red Hook with easy access to the St. John ferry terminal, market, shops, restaurants and nightlife, two of the prettiest beaches on the island - Secret Harbor, Sapphire and Smith Bay/Lindquist, diving, fishing, boating, kayaking, jet skiing, parasailing, tennis and golf nearby.

Come see why we call it Belle Caribe!

About Sue

When I'm not traveling, I live in San Diego, CA and love cooking and playing tennis. I work as an independent contractor for a technology company that develops digital ordering systems for the restaurant industry. I have been traveling to the Caribbean since I was really young for vacations with my parents and have always loved it.

Sue purchased this villa in 2010

Why Sue chose USVI/St. Thomas

I love the Caribbean climate, laid back lifestyle, slower pace -- and rum punch ;-) The great thing about Belle Caribe is that the view is beautiful and always changing - you don't just stare out at the water - you'll see the sunrise, moon rise, rainbows, islands, boats, cloud formations - and feel the tradewind breeze.

What makes this villa unique

Super location - close to everything St. Thomas has to offer - one of the newer villa rentals on the island and very well maintained with a fully equipped kitchen. There will not be enough hours during your vacation to spend looking at this view!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We cannot express how much we enjoyed your spectacular home! You both have created an amazing experience. From the unbelievable views, to waking up to the sunrise, cooking in your fully equipped kitchen, and having breakfast overlooking the island, we don't want to leave. Belle Caribe was the perfect place to come home to after our busy days here.

An Amazing House Lives Up to Great Expectations

  • 5 of 5

We booked this home for our East Coast/West Coast family months ago. I thought it was so beautiful that I looked at the photos many times before our vacation. Often high expectations can be disappointing, but not in this incidence. We loved the house - location, layout, that it was well stocked........but we especially loved the comfortable outside space with the gorgeous view. We stayed over Christmas and our biggest decision was whether to go to the beach and then open presents in the evening OR open Christmas gifts first. Since we had a split of opinions, as the mom I mediated and we opened our gifts in our bathing suits and then spent the day at Sapphire Beach! Secret Harbor was our favorite beach but we also enjoyed Coki and Trunk Bay on St. John's (parking was awful, but it's a beautiful beach.) The highlight for our 20 something granddaughters and our 40 something daughter was swimming with the sea lions at Coral World.

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

Sue's house was perfect for our family's vacation on the island! The house was stocked with everything we needed (including kitchen items, towels, and beach gear) which kept our visit stress-free. The view is spectacular, and the location is fairly remote relative to other places on the island which is nice if you want to get away from all the touristy and crowded streets. Everything about the house was as-advertised, and Sue was super helpful in helping us navigate the island and answering our questions. Would definitely recommend this place for a larger group of people exploring the island together!

Fabulous Villa & Tremendous Hosts

  • 5 of 5

We had a party of 4 people and we were all so happy with our choice to stay here!! Sue and Dewey are incredibly nice and answered all of our questions in a timely fashion. The Villa was better in person, the amenities are lovely and the extra space was great! We love the extra attention to details, the lounge chairs, board games and fully stocked kitchen for cooking. This was our 3rd time back on the island and by far this property was the best choice we have made. The location is great, the area is really safe and close to Red Hook which makes it convenient for travel to the other islands. Thank you both for the time in your gorgeous villa, we appreciate you sharing your piece of paradise with us!

Absolutely Gorgeous!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time staying in a villa and Belle Caribe exceeded our expectations...everything about it was great....U can tell that Sue and Dewy put immense thought into designing and decorating the property and well as the amenities... They have everything you could possibly need from scuba gear, to everything you would need for the beach, alcohol, everything was impeccable... Sue was such a great host and always replied to any and every question I had... If I was bothering her she never let me was just always gracious and very informative...the villa is on the Red Hook end which has everything as far as entertainment, dining, shopping, the ferry to St Johns and the other islands is about 10mins away..also to get to the other end of the island Charlotte Amille is but a 30min drive... We rented a car and we were able to find everything with not much trouble..... The views from the villa alone will take ur breath away.....we will definitely be back!!

Home was gorgeous. Everything needed to have a wonderful vacation.

  • 5 of 5

This is the first time I booked a vacation on line. I was very nervous due to stories of scams and misrepresentation of the listings. However, I had nothing to fear. Sue was very supportive from my first inquiry and my many questions leading to our arrival. The home is lovely and exactly as described.

We were escorted from the airport to the home. The home is incredible, and Sue has a fine eye for detail. The kitchen has anything you need to cook a meal, and a BBQ for grilling. The home is impeccable and all appliances top of the line.

The view is fabulous. Sue has everything at Belle Caribe that is needed for a wonderful day at the beach-chairs, snorkel gear, beach toys and even beach towels.

We had a problem with the propane. I put a call into Sue and she' answered immediately. She had the serviceman there and the problem was corrected. I was thrilled to find out she was only a call away. I would definitely recommend this home.

If you are looking for a fabulous stressfree vacation with a wonderful view -Belle Caribe is the place to go.

Car: necessary

Here are some suggestions for your stay in St. Thomas! We have a lot of fun and do a lot of relaxing. Here are some of our favorite things to do (besides having coffee out on the deck in the morning and drinks and dinner out there in the evening!).

Secret Harbor -This is a very picturesque little harbor only about 5 minutes from the house, plus there are an outdoor shower and bathrooms. You can pack a cooler with some drinks and take the beach chairs to Secret Harbor Beach Resort. All beaches on St. Thomas are public, the resorts just charge a fee if you want to use their chairs, umbrellas or sporting equipment. You can go snorkeling or rent paddle boards. There's also a beach bar and restaurant there, and sunset is beautiful there!

Sapphire Beach - at the Sapphire Beach Resort, just about 10 minutes from the house. The water is usually pretty calm here too, and it's nice for snorkeling. There is a reef toward the right and a grassy area out toward the left. It's a bit of a kick out but you'll almost always see turtles in the grassy area. Lots of fish around the reef area. We bring crackers or bread and feed the cute ducks on the beach and the fish by the shore. The resort has a special parking lot for people coming to the beach. They also have a little kiosk near the beach where you can get drinks and snacks.

Smith Bay Bay Beach/Lindquist - gorgeous water and not crowded at all, still mostly a locals' beach and just a few minutes from the house. Sometimes the water can be a little rougher here but very nice and quiet.

Magen’s Bay Beach – the most famous beach on St. Thomas, about 20 minutes from the house. When you arrive and go through the gate (there is a small fee) turn to the left and follow the road to the parking toward the other end of the beach. It is much quieter. Most people just stop and park by the gate where the facilities are so it can get a bit crowded there. The other end is much quieter, and it’s a beautiful walk down the beach if you want to rent a paddle board or go to the snack/beach bar. On the way back stop at Famous Delite/Udder Delite for some ice cream and great milkshakes.

Water Island - Actually another of the Virgin Islands. You can take a ferry from Tickles Restaurant in Crown Bay, just takes a few minutes, over to Honeymoon Beach. Very pretty beach, nice and calm and there are 2 beach restaurants. One of them has a shuttle from the ferry dock up over the hill if you don't want to walk.

Watch the cruise ships leave from the Mafolie - The Mafolie is a hotel up on a hill in Charlotte Amalie. They have a restaurant and bar with a great view for watching the cruise ships leave. It's really neat as the light fades to see them pulling out and disappearing in the horizon. We usually just have drinks there and an appetizer. Dinner has never been that great, but we haven't eaten there in awhile.

Lunch at Cuzzins' in Charlotte Amalie - Cuzzins' is on Back Street. The food is West Indian and really good. We like the conch and shrimp creole, sometimes it's not on the menu so we ask.

Charter a boat for a day - When you charter a private boat they require you take a captain, and it's best since there are reefs and the captains know the waters. You could stop at Christmas Cove and some pretty spots around St. John that you would not be able to reach otherwise by car. The boats do have canopies so there is shade.

We use See and Ski or Vilocity. Whichever you use, please let them know you are staying at Dewey & Sue's place, Belle Caribe.

See and Ski

Red Hook - American Yacht Harbor - 'A' Dock

Schnitzel House Marina

Take the car ferry and spend the day on St. John - Trunk Bay is the most famous, and beautiful with an underwater snorkel trail and facilities. Our favorite beach is Maho Bay, incredibly calm and good snorkeling to the right around the rocks. Pack up the beach chairs, cooler, lunch and snorkel gear. On the way back stop in Cruz Bay and do some shopping.

Reef Bay Hike, St. John - There is a guided tour the Park Service does a couple days a week (you need to make reservations), which is nice because the Park guide tells you about all the different plants, you see petroglyphs and nice ruins of a sugar mill. At the bottom you end up on the beach at Reef Bay and they have a boat take you back around the island so you get to see a bit of the outside of St. John from the water. You can also do this hike on your own but then you have to hike back up the trail.
