Best Stay Ever in Pagosa

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at the Lazy Bear many times over the past six years. We generally go in the early summer, but chose to visit in September this year. We loved the weather, the relaxation that the river provided and the overall comfort of the cabin. It never fails to meet and exceed our expectations. We'll be back next year - harder to decide when to come now!

Still Great!

  • 5 of 5

This is our third time visiting the Lazy Bear and we will continue to make it our 'go-to' spot for Colorado vacationing! The fishing was awesome; the river was relaxing and the hot tub was exceptionally restful. We always feel at home and appreciate the obvious care that goes into the details down to the paper towels! This cabin can't be beat!

Repeat Customer, won't stay anywhere else!

  • 5 of 5

Myself and my parents have made the trip to Pagosa Springs for the past 3 years in a row, and will make it a FOURTH in winter 2016. Each time we have stayed at Lazy Bear and can't say enough wonderful things about it! We just absolutely won't stay anywhere else now, and have actually decided to extend our stay to a full week because it's just that great. The cabin is perfectly situated along the river, and whether its partly thawed and you can hear the water flowing, or frozen over, the view is beautiful and the pictures don't do it justice. The cabin is fully stocked with everything you will need to do from cooking, roasting marshmallows, taking a dip in the hot tub, or snow tubing. The cabin has a warm, cozy, family friendly feeling that is created by the Beach Family's attention to detail in the accomodations they provide to their guests. This really does feel like a second home. The location is close to town, and not too far away from the activities at Wolf Creek such as snow mobiling, skiing and hiking Treasure Falls. There is a small pond across from the cabin and there are nicely plowed roads that are great for a morning jog in the crisp fresh air. We have enjoyed using the firepit and hot tub almost every evening we stay there. I really can not think of one thing I would improve or change about our stays here unless the owners would like to sell me their cabin!! ;) It is definitely a little piece of heaven.

Wonderful comfort, amazing location, everything you need

  • 5 of 5

The Lazy Bear is amazing! We relaxed in the hot tub while listening to the beautiful babble of the river. We grilled outside and cooked in the well stocked kitchen. We even found a slow cooker to make pot roast waiting for us after a day of fishing. We awoke to find mule deer grazing just off the deck.

Everything is supplied. I made my usual run to the grocery store before we got there for my favorite toilet paper and found a cabinet stuffed full of the exact same brand when we arrived!

We loved the Lazy Bear so much we are already planning a visit next year and hopefully again this fall. There are things to do in the area absolutely year round we can't wait to explore Pagosa Springs from our new cozy home base!

A wonderful cabin for Wolf Creek Pass skiers

  • 5 of 5

We recently returned from a terrific and very snowy ski trip that included

11 days at the Lazy Bear. The cabin was everything it was advertised to

be. Part of our enjoyment comes from home cooked breakfasts and dinners.

Scones, biscuits, latkes, omelets, cornmeal pancakes ... a Mexican casserole,

hearty stews and pastas, etc., all comfortably prepared in a well supplied

kitchen. We turn the thermostats way down for sleep, then bring up the

flames of the gas operated Franklin heater while enjoying a cozy early

morning cuppa'. So nice to have a roomy garage to keep the snow off

of the car. The Lazy Bear is a convenient location, accessible to the slopes

and Pagosa Springs. It was a bit too cold and snowy for us to take advantage

of the spa, but there was a clear path and heavy robes had we been a wee

more adventuresome. Our hosts could not have been nicer. Thank you!!!!

Lazy Bear is the Bomb!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful trip! The Lazy Bear was everything you could ever want. The owners have more comforts in this home than you could imagine. It really made us feel at home. The warm cozy robes were great to have every morning while sitting on the deck for morning coffee, looking at the San Juan river and enjoying the scenic views. The town is a gem, great restaurants and nice shops. We did so much - hot air balloon ride, hiking to the falls, fishing in the river - even learned how to fly fish! We took a train ride from Silverton to Durango. Silverton's a great town. You feel like you're in a John Wayne movie. This whole trip was fantastic, from the lodging at the Lazy Bear to the scenery. Can't wait to go back! Thanks for a wonderful place to stay.

About The Owner

Here we are traipsing around the countryside. This was actually taken in New Mexico between Terra Amarillo & Taos, New Mexico; a bit Southeast of the cabin as the crow flies! We hope you enjoy staying at the Lazy Bear and have as much fun as there is to have!

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2004

Why The Owner chose San Juan River Village

The Lazy Bear is centrally located between our Texas and California relatives - it's been our family cabin for over ten years and we've had a ton of fun. We believe that you will love it as much as we do - the Lazy Bear is a very comfortable place to be.

What makes this cabin unique

You will find that all seasons offer something special at the cabin. Whether you are skiing, golfing, fishing, hiking, sightseeing, or just soaking in the mineral springs there're always wonderful memories to be created. Don't miss the zillion stars you can see while enjoying the firepit at night!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have visited the Lazy Bear many times, in all seasons. I think our favorite has to be the winter timeframe – the cabin is so cozy, the hot tub so welcoming, the beauty of the area breathtaking. We will still come in the summer and fall, but winter is now on our list as well!
