We do offer extended stay rates. Please contact us for more information. We prefer Sunday to Sunday reservations during the months of July and August.

We invite you to come and visit any time of the year to enjoy a relaxing vacation close to the ocean in a quiet neighborhood. This nicely remodeled and furnished home is located on the Long Beach Peninsula on the SW Washington State coastline. It's a short walk to the ocean on a paved path in a pristine setting. Enjoy long walks, or drives, on the ocean beaches. There are two lighthouses close by to explore and an 8 mile paved path that parallels the ocean for biking, walking or jogging. We also have a second, two bedroom adjacent property 738238. When combined together we can accommodate larger groups.

Note: We rent the ground floor only. The upstairs is for the owner's periodic use.

Recent testimonies from our guests:

We had a lovely time staying at Hewitt House. We felt very safe during that incredible wind storm — never heard the wind whistling through and nothing shook. Your kitchen is marvelously stocked with everything a good cook needs. Thank you for all your considerations. The bright lights in the kitchen made it a favorite room for conversation and games. Perhaps some brighter lights in the other rooms would help show off the wonderful watercolor paintings and lend to easier reading for the eyes. We are watercolorists and the paintings along with a trip to Eric Weigardt’s studio was a great addition to our stay. Thank you again for providing a wonderful and affordable vacation home. And, our two greyhounds loved running in the yard.

We had a great vacation at the Hewitt House! The weather was great! We spent every day on our boat that we moored in Ilwaco, but it was sure nice to have the house to come back to. Especially with the nice back patio to BBQ on! Thank you so much. The new gas fireplace is beautiful too. Thank you again. We have great family memories to remember forever!

We loved staying at your house. No one wanted to leave! There were so many things we liked about it! My family goes to the beach about 3 times a year and we always try new houses and motels but we definitely found one that beats everything else. We look forward to staying there every time it’s available. Looks like we will be returning in October sometime if it’s not booked! It’s really great to have such a nice comfy house for such a good price. Keep it up! Thank you. Maggie – Longview, WA

Charming furnishings with many pictures by our acquaintance Charles Mulvey, comfy beds, roomy and well equipped kitchen, quiet nights, close to beach and market all combined to make our Seaview stay most enjoyable. And thanks for ordering those sunny days! Gary – Seattle, WA

We’ve just returned and had a wonderful time. It was probably so good because of your quality assurance work via requests for feedback like this email. We had no trouble finding you (we’ve stayed on the peninsula many times over many decades and your directions were very clear) and the mechanics of reservations, policies, etc were all A-OK. It was very thoughtful to have the fire starter, tinder, birch and fir. The kitchen had everything we needed, beds and seating were very comfortable and we felt right at home. Many might not care, but having the enclosed yards and the areas across the road to play with our dog was FABULOUS!

Thanks for being such good hosts—you’ll be seeing us again. All the best, Bob and Valerie

About John Brunton

We are the third generation of our family to own and operate Hewitt House vacation rentals and pride ourselves in creating a vacation atmosphere that encourages people to return year after year.

John Brunton purchased this house in 1927

Why John Brunton chose Long Beach Peninsula

The Long Beach peninsula in SW Washington State is a popular vacation destination with it's unique features of beaches that can be driven on, pristine water, beautiful forests, historic Oysterville, excellent dining opportunities, clamming, fishing/crabbing, boating, kayaking, birding, hiking and lighthouses.

What makes this house unique

This home was originally built for Portland, OR stationer, J.K. Gill as a summer home. It came into our family in 1927 and was extensively remodeled and upgraded in 1998 - 1999 by a local architect builder keeping it's original style but adding more modern conveniences.

Perfect getaway cottage

  • 5 of 5

This charming property was perfect for our girlfriends weekend. With 3 bedrooms (double beds in 2 and 2 doubles in the 3rd), there was wonderful privacy. The kitchen has been remodeled and was well-stocked with utensils, plates, condiments, cleaning supplies. Loved the kitchen table that seats 6 comfortably. The bathroom came loaded with 8 (!) sets of new, fluffy towels and extras were stored nearby. The living room's gas fireplace was put to good use. There were little outbuildings for the laundry room (detergent provided) and a second, big bathroom, both under cover from the main house. The grounds were beautifully maintained. Can't wait to come back in warmer weather to enjoy chairs on front porch.

We walked down the road to the beach, maybe a quarter mile away. Loved the quiet and the fabulous location, just a couple of blocks from the main intersection from highway to town. We heard nothing!

The house was among the cleanest and best-supplied vacation homes I've stayed in. Appreciate the attention to detail and kindness of the owners to accommodate a special request.

Can't recommend this highly enough for a getaway, especially for adults.

Owner's Response: Thanks, Kate. We appreciate your kind and thorough review and look forward to having you and your friends back any time. We strive to make our guests comfortable and work hard to make get-aways special and relaxing. We are located close to the ocean, a very nice restaurant and a short drive to lighthouses, a golf course and lots of cute little shops. The nearby Discovery Trail is excellent for jogging, biking and walking and historic Oysterville is worth the drive up the peninsula. So much to do and see! You and your girlfriends will definitely have to come back!

Great place to call home for a few days

  • 4 of 5

Had everything we needed. Well stocked kitchen... truly, there was even a crockpot and large griddle! Great location to see everything in the area (we went as far south as Cannon Beach); including the beach that was a short walk away.

Had a great time!

  • 5 of 5

Had an awesome first beach trip with my grandson, the house was great, perfect distance to the beach. We didn't get to enjoy the back yard because the weather didn't cooperate, but it worked perfectly for the dog. The house has all you need, well stocked and very comfortable. Would definitely come again when the weather is better.

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

The home is clearly cared for and loved. It was extremely clean and fully equipt for easy living. The beach, only 1/4 of a mile down the road, is paralleled by the Discovery Trail, great for walking and biking. Be aware that the beds are all full size, sleeping arrangements might feel tight. We loved our stay and will be back!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your reservation and feedback. Our home was built in 1887 by Stationer J.K. Gill as his summer home and in that era bedrooms were typically built fairly small. That's why the double beds which we do point out in our summary on the VRBO website: "House with fenced yard, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (4 double beds - sleeps a max of 8)." We apologize if this took you by surprise. Thanks again for staying with us and we hope to see you back.

A relaxing week

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for our stay, just a short walk to the beach. Although the stove was electric, the rest of the kitchen was functional and very well stocked. Being a chef I tend to overpack and did not need many of my things from home since the kitchen was so well stocked with everything from seasonings and pantry basics to gadgets bowls, pans and electric appliances. The fenced yard worked well for the dog and the outside bathroom was very helpful.
