Caribbean perfection awaits at Estate Shoys
Saint Croix is by far the largest of the Virgin Islands, but its location 40 miles or so away from the rest of the archipelago means it receives far fewer vacationers. Tucked away on the beautiful northern coast just outside Christiansted are several Estate Shoys vacation rentals, from which you can tip-toe down to the sandy beaches, or swing your clubs on the golf course just moments away. The rest of the island is achingly beautiful. Lush green mountains tumble down to steamy rainforests and a spectacular coastline. It's all waiting here in Saint Croix.
Colorful Christiansted at Estate Shoys
The Caribbean has long had a rich rum producing heritage. To discover it, you can visit one of the several rum distilleries on Saint Croix, for a tour and tastings. Both the largest towns on the island are awash with fascinating museums and historic sites. If you find yourself in colorful Christiansted, try to swing by the 19th-century Apothecary Hall Museum, an old pharmacy which once served the Danish military. Alternatively, the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts offers a unique perspective into Caribbean culture and features works by many local artists.
Countless activities at Estate Shoys
It might be less-visited that other Virgin Islands, but this doesn't stop it from having, arguably, the most to do. Other than days stretched out on the beach, you can practice your swing on the golf courses, hook a mahi mahi on a fishing charter, or watch turtles nesting on the shoreline. Not enough? How about saddling up to horseback ride along the equestrian trails, learning to sail along the coastline, or getting some serious pampering at the spa? If that doesn't sound like the perfect vacation, we don't know what does.
Escape to Estate Shoys for winter
With such good winter sunshine, it's unsurprising that the peak season in Saint Croix is between December and February, when folks escape the snow and freezing temperatures back home. If you manage to nab an Estate Shoys vacation rental during this time, you'll be treated to temperatures that hover around the 80s and very little chance of rain. The weather might be getting better back home, but if you want to save a few bucks, visit between April and June, when the rainy season has yet to arrive and the rental prices take a dip.
