About this property

Shire Chalet

Enjoy serene, country views from a comfortable, cozy home. Beautifully situated above a horse pasture with a sweeping pond below. Only 7 minutes to the Great Allegheny Passage! 17 miles to Flight 93 Memorial, and 27 miles to Seven Springs and Hidden Valley ski slopes! There is also a local Amish community only 10 minutes South, with local produce and handiwork.
We have a working farm next door with sheep, horses, cats, dogs, and occasional kittens and puppies you may be able to greet.
The space
There are acres and acres of farmland that can be accessed on foot. Hiking and cross country skiing are welcome! Please request a farm map.
Guest access
The whole home except the attic is available. Hundreds of acres of open farmland. The farm buildings are off limits unless you are on a chaperoned tour.
Other things to note
We raise Bernese Mountain Dogs that you may see outside. We also have a small herding shepherd who follows my children where they may go.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Great place to stay

Family members and I stayed during the holiday season. The house is comfy, immaculately clean, and roomy. Communication with the owner was very good - quick responses before and during stay. Location is rural, nice scenery - farm would be fun to explore in summer weather. The tasteful holiday decorations were a nice touch. Would stay there again!

Great place for our family get together weekend

My husband and I rented this to have a place to chill out with our son and his family away from their home in the city. It was large enough for the 8 of us and the kids had a ball despite a day of rainy weather. The owners were kind enough to invite my grandkids to watch them load sheep and then the kids got to visit their barn and see other animals. Very nice owners!

Great Location and Friendly owner

We had a fantastic time in this rental. We were two families with 6 children and two dogs. The owner Zabrina was really nice and helpful to make our stay wonderful. No hidden fees or rules in the unit. The house was enough for all of us to enjoy our vacation without complaints. The property was located in a 900 acre farmland. They even gave us a tour around their farm. We recommend this place for anyone who wants to enjoy their vacation in a peaceful and quite surrounding.

Relaxing weekend on the farm.

We enjoyed a long weekend on the farm. Kitchen worked well for shared breakfast and dinner prep and cleanup. Deck was used by all whether sipping coffee in the morning or star gazing at night. Plenty of parking. We enjoyed walking the property and exploring. Views were great!Our group day tripped to Flight 93, Ohiopyle hiking and Fallingwater. Based on previous reviews we read. We used the blue pull out sofa. 2 adults. No problems.

Country charm

Shire Chalet is a recently built 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house. Our extended family of 9 (ages 14-82) plus 2 dogs appreciated the spaciousness and country setting. The fridge and pantry were stocked with coffee and condiments. The check-out list was reasonable. My only reason for 4 stars is the house was listed for 10 people. But the only way to accommodate 10 was to use two sleep sofas and/or an air mattress. One sleep sofa was nominally acceptable for kids, but the other was dilapidated beyond use. Also, only one set of extra sheets was provided. Overall, however, it was a pleasant experience and we would encourage others to stay here.
