Great and convenient location, parking was nice and easy, clean and comfortable beds. Hot tub was not as advertised and unable to be used during our visit.
The Rockny House had everything we were looking for, to bad it went bye so fast. The spacious rooms were inviting with all of the fresh white linens & well lite when curtains were open. Large dinner table was great for preparations as the hours ticked bye always having a wide selection of options to snack on helped to fuel our ideas for the basement of fun where the children made sure to exercise there freedom to lounge in the cinema. Ending our day of entertainment in the spacious jacuzzi was a well earned rest.
This VRBO home exceeded all expectations. The host was responsive and helpful, making check-in and check-out a breeze. It felt like a true home away from home. We’re already planning our next visit!Highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a comfortable, clean, and stylish getaway.
The property was everything it was listed to be. Communication with the owner was easy. The location was ideal as it was close to every place we needed to go within South Bend. We rnjoyed our stay and would recommend staying at this property.
Great house to stay in while visiting South Bend. Beds/linens extremely clean, house overall is very clean and comfortably fits a large family/group of friends. Convenient to all stores and to Notre Dame campus -a short walk or a quick car ride. We highly recommend this property and would consider renting again on our next visit.
A few families with young kids went here as a quick getaway. Close to Notre Dame campus and downtown Mishawaka for family-friendly activities.
Would be a great place to stay for an Irish football game!
From the beginning, instructions and information about the house were easy to find and navigate including the hot tub, grill and movie theater. We had a great experience. Would highly recommend to a friend.
We loved our time at the Rockne house! It was the perfect place to spend time with friends and had a bunch of fun games and activities to keep us busy even in the winter. The Movie Room was by far the highlight of the house! Would reccomend.
We enjoyed the house as a way for our 13 yr old to have a weekend get away with his buddies for his bday party. Chose the house since there was plenty of entertainment indoors in February but had outdoor activities in case there was warmer weather. The basement is a teen boy’s paradise! They loved it!
It was perfect to have 6 moms stay and for our mother daughter weekend. It was a great location close to campus so our girls could come hang out during the day and for dinner. The hot tub was huge and a huge hit. The outdoor grill worked great for preparing dinner. Plenty of space to socialize. Outdoor fire pit and large yard were both also terrific.
Do not overlook this VRBO for your next stay in South Bend. The most comfortable, warm, accommodating, communicative, organized, and well stocked home we have ever stayed. As a mum of 3 adult boys, we all had plenty of things to do even while being snowed in. It was convenient as well to only be a hour and a half away from Chicago O’Hare Airport as our Airman was to fly back to the UK the day we checked out. Thankful and grateful for the time and memories made at The Rockne House!
Beds were comfortable, home was clean and well stocked with linens, towels, kitchen utensils and items, and loads of activities and games for the family. Even had candy, sodas(), and complimentary popcorn in the home theater. We had a ball! The hot tub was a big selling point for us because everyone was coming a great distance. The photos looked great but admittedly it was not the high point of the trip. The owners were very responsive to any questions we had. It is an older home that has been beautifully updated but be aware sound travels a lot. We could hear everything from our bedroom and what was happening downstairs and the HVAC was quite noisy.
Overall, this worked fine for a couple nights for 7 guys. Games in the basement were great, plenty of beds, communication from the host was good. However, we were let down based on the listing -- there is a lot of work that needs to be done on the house (one shower was super finnicky, pots and pans were scarce and not very clean, fridge was questionably cold, one of the chairs in the back was missing a leg, etc.). That plus the grill being in really bad shape and the basketball court/grill area being right next to a ton of stinky garbage. For the price, I was expecting much more, and we would have had a tough time if we had tried to fit the 18 people the listing says there's capacity for or if we had done the trip with wives and kids.
My family had a great stay at the Rochne house and I would recommend it to everyone. The property was very clean, nicely maintained and super well equipped for a family. The basement is perfect with a large area for games that has lots of fun things. The movie room is great and the projector is easy to use. Matt even leaves snacks and drinks right in the room. It took me a minute but I realized that every couch could convert to a bed so there must be places for 20 people to sleep it seemed. (If there was a good problem it was that it was hard to get the kids to leave the house because there were so many fun things to do.)
The back yard is also perfect for a family. The hot tub was actually hot and very big. The grill area was large and roomy. The fire pit is huge and has endless amount of wood. The back yard has a street behind it but it is not that busy and it is far enough away not to bother anyone. My experience with how close it is to the campus is mixed. The description in the write up is accurate and it is walking distance for adults. We decided to taxi the children expect for game day. We chose to get a tailgating spot for the game but that was just as much for the experience as it was due to the walking distance.
Finally, Matt couldn’t have been nicer. He was very responsive and available if we had any problems. In the end we didn’t really need anything but it was nice to know he was ready to help out.
Great place to get the full ND experience.

Lack of details
We arrived on a Friday and the cleaning lady was still there at 3:30 which for us was good because she explained how the front door lock worked. Handles on most of the outside doors were very lose and one even fell off , my husband fixed it . Other doors inside were very lose and didn't lock if there was a lock. Very disappointed with the bathroom situation , I knew there were only 2 but none in the basement where there were so many sleeping areas. Kitchen was overall needing help ,cabinet doors ready to fall off , sink not scrubbed ( use some Bar Keepers Friend powder it would work. Laundry room had piles of dirty sheets and towels and towels in dryer , wet sheets in washer , I would have liked to do a load of laundry but not going to touch what was there. It was lucky for us we only slept there and the beds were fine , we had breakfast and were gone for the day to family activities. In my opinion you needs to have a handy man come and fix all the wear and tear this house has seen. Also the TV upstairs wouldn't work , we could turn it on on the side of it but had no ability to change channels or volume......Please make a manual for all items that guests would need to know how to work. We had young adults that are very tech savvy and they were stumped, we tried changing battries etc.
Pigskin Journeyman isn’t just a name—it’s the story of a life spent chasing the game across the globe.
Founded by a former pro quarterback whose career spanned the AFL, Europe, South America, and the world stage with Team USA, Pigskin Journeyman properties are built from lived experience. From helping grow American football in Brazil to portraying Brett Favre in American Underdog—and serving as JD McCoy’s double on the final three seasons of Friday Night Lights—this is a brand created by someone who’s truly done it all. As one guest put it: “The Dos Equis man of football.”
After nearly 20 moves for football, film, and business, the mission became clear: to build the most authentic football-themed stays in America’s most iconic football towns.
It started with the original Pigskin Journeyman House in Green Bay—packed with mementos from a life in the game. Then came The Rockne House in South Bend, featured on CBS, just one mile from Notre Dame Stadium. From there, we opened the unapologetically bold Hall of Fame Snubs House in Massillon, Ohio—where high school football is religion—and then Rockne 2.0, a luxury upgrade of the original concept with a Finnish sauna, jumbotron sports bar, and speakeasy lounge.
Each home is intentionally designed, fan-approved, and loaded with the kind of details only a player would think to include.
This isn’t just a rental brand. It’s a legacy. And it’s just getting started.
Why they chose this property
It’s the best house on the best street—named for the patriarch of college football’s most storied program. The address? 2121 Rockne Drive—the same street number as the Pro Football Hall of Fame: 2121 George Halas Drive. Coincidence? Maybe. But football lives here.
