About The Owner

My sister and I share wonderful memories of this house where we grew up. Our father chose the rocky side of the hill just outside the Medieval walls of Perugia to build a home for his young family. Our mother loved the position and view and together they built the home of their dreams carefully choosing every detail, from the color of the marble and hardwood floors to the position of each tree in the ample garden.

The Owner purchased this villa in 1970

What makes this villa unique

The apartment in the villa is extremely spacious and even a large party will find privacy in the large rooms or private garden all around it.

The villa offers a unique combination of country and city life. The location, bordering the green belt of Perugia, offers a quiet and relaxing atmosphere immersed in the olive grove. At the same time the Medieval/Etruscan town is easily reachable within minutes.

The return to this beautiful villa.

  • 5 of 5

This is my second time staying at this lovely villa in Perugia. It created the same sense of quiet beauty all around. The olives were ripening in the orchard, lemons and limes to view in lovely tera cota pots. It is just such a relaxing home and atmosphere after a grand day of touring museums and sights in Medeval Perugia's old centre.

I came with my cousins and they loved the villa as I do. We were able to venture off the beaten track to ancient Civita di Bagnoregio thanks to my cousin and his girlfriend suggesting it. It was a magic moment to see this ancient medeval town. We had a wonderful day trip through the country side of Umbria viewing ancient olive groves and grape vines. The villa is a perfect location for these day trips. I will be back to the villa as I have more of Umbria to discover.

Umbria Jazz 2015!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this spacious apartment. Our host went to great lengths to make us feel at home, even rescuing a cell phone accidentally left in a cab. The shady patio with comfortable seating was a favorite place to relax after a wonderful day at the top enjoying music and food during the festival. We would walk to the Mini-metro and effortlessly reach the top, returning home by cab, all reasonably priced when traveling without a car. Loved breezy Perugia, even in July.

This house is fantastic.

It is tastefully decorated with lots of beautiful art but is in no way cold or uninviting. Our whole party of eight (ages 17 - 76) soon felt completely at home for our weeklong stay and it was the perfect home base for our daily excursions.

There is so much to see and do in the region of Perugia itself and then you have Assisi, Pisa, Siena, Florence and even Rome within easy reach by car or train.

Mornings was spent on the spacious back porch enjoying a truly spectacular view. It was good for the soul to wake up in such a way.

I would recommend this house to anybody visiting Umbria. I would recommend Perugia to anyone interested in history and culture, and also the good dining and living so typical for Italy. Do yourself the favor of tasting the chocolate but also the truffle dishes that many restaurants in the area has on the menu.

My last piece of advice would be to get a GPS for your rental car if you plan to do your own driving. A lot of streets are one way only and the way home is rarely going back the way you came.

The Mini Metro is the perfect way to explore the immediate surroundings though.

All of us are hoping to come back to Perugia soon and hopefully for a longer stay as there was simply too much to see in just one trip!

4 Canadian women

  • 5 of 5

I found this home to be warm, spacious, clean, and perfect for 4 women for a 1 week stay in Umbria. We arrived in the evening and had no food with us. We were pleasantly surprised to find a food basket for us on our arrival. It contained wine, bread, chocolate, pasta, cheese, fruit, tomatoes - what more does a person need on a vacation! The home provided a beautiful view of Perugia and was very close to the Mini Metro and a great grocery store. The home had everything we could possibly need and the furniture was comfortable and clean. I would highly recommend this home to anyone wanting a stay in the Umbria area. We were even provided with a GPS!

Special Villa Home

  • 5 of 5

This was my first trip to Italy and I feel like I was completely spoiled by the sights, sounds, and tastes of this lovely country! My stay at the Umbrian villa in Perugia was very special! It truly became my “home away from home” as all the amenities and household needs were readily available! My bedroom with the blue bedspread was comfortable and spacious! The outside blinds easily shut out the bright morning sun but also allowed for a spectacular view of olive, cypress and pine trees! The green house had lemons on the trees and vibrant strawberry and tomato plants waiting to be planted. The driveway was lined with bloomed tulips, daffodils and other lovely flowers. All was lush and inviting! Sitting on the deck with my espresso in hand soaking up the rays of sunshine was just what my holiday needed! Breakfast in the dining room overlooking the city was beautiful!

I was grateful for being able to leave my luggage behind and take only the essentials for day trips to nearby villages. Travel to the town square via the “Mini Metro” took only a short walk. I found the Umbrian people to be friendly and helpful. I especially loved walking through the market and of course sampling, the many flavours of gelato! It would be my dream to return and bring friends and family to the villa so they too can experience all that it was to offer!

Umbrian Warmth

  • 5 of 5

Our arrival by car up to the villa was met with olive trees lining the curved drive way, soft pines, a stately cypress tree, and with, Alessandro, the caretaker, driving us to the door. The villa is everything as noted on the website but so much more! It was my perfect cultural taste of the region and 2nd visit to Perugia. Umbrian pottery, a chef's compact European kitchen, rich marble, a lovely collection of "vaso" or terracotta pots, and Baci chocolates in the dining room all added to the experience. Beautifully clean and well appointed throughout, the bedroom I used was comfortable with evenings quiet and peaceful for sleep after sightseeing. We used the villa as a base and explored Perugia and some hill towns by day. Transportation is close by with bus and Mini-Metro, as well as a local grocery store and cafe bar within walking distance. You can easily take the Mini-Metro to the train station for day excursions to a hill town.We ate breakfast and snacks at the villa. We hopped the Mini-Metro for dinner in the historic center of Perugia and dined at Il Falchetto for local dishes at reasonable prices. I was taken by the views of the Umbrian hills and the city, yet I was in a true Italian city neighborhood. The map provided on the website is very accurate and useful. This is a villa to spend much more time enjoying.I will be returning for a more lengthy stay as I already miss this special home.
