Overview

About the property

4 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, Sleeps 10

Welcome to Cool Cloud House, a luxurious and avant-garde villa suspended on columns above a spectacular beach. An impressive feat of engineering and architecture, Cool Cloud House brings you closer to the sand and water than any home on the Caribbean. During storms, the waves will roll right under the house and out the other side. Fortunately, this beautiful pink-sand beach is lapped by the shallow Caribbean, which is usually as calm as a lake. Cool Cloud House faces west. You can enjoy the most wonderful sunsets over the sea every evening from your decks and windows.

Cool Cloud House is located on Alabaster Beach, one of the most stunning and pristine beaches in the Caribbean, featured on the cover of Conde Nast Traveler's December 2012 issue.

Completed in the summer of 2012 and decorated with custom contemporary furnishings, Cool Cloud House has 2200 square feet under air plus extensive decks and outside space. Cool Cloud House’s great room, suspended over the beach, is divided into three spaces. The Entertainment area has a flat-screen TV, DVD, hi-fi sound system, and a PlayStation 3. The kitchen, dining area, and breakfast nook offer contemporary cooking and dining with extensive beach and ocean views. The ultra-modern kitchen features all stainless steel appliances including French-door refrigerator, glass top range, wall oven, dishwasher, and microwave. The third space, the Chill Out area, hovers over the sea, giving a view and proximity to the water found in few houses anywhere in the world. Both the Chill Out Room and the Entertainment area have sofa beds (a total of 3 sofa beds in all).

Cool Cloud House has four bedrooms, each with a luxurious en-suite bath and an ocean-view deck. Two of the baths have showers; the other two have shower/tub combinations. Watch the sunset from your bedroom window, or step onto your deck for a morning coffee, feed the birds or fish, and listen to the Caribbean lapping on the sand.

Outside on the beach, beneath the elevated platform of the house, Cool Cloud House has a large shaded dining area with a gas grill. Grill your catch of the day and dine on the water’s edge. An outdoor shower is also located in this shady spot. This area can be lighted up at night with beautiful blue LED lighting. Additional exterior illumination includes two life-size palm-tree LED lights and other solar-powered LED lighting, which creates a unique and romantic night-time environment around Cool Cloud House.

Amenities at Cool Cloud House include full AC, WIFI, satellite TV, advanced water purification system, and laundry room with a washer and dryer. Four kayaks are provided. A crib is available.

The town of Governors Harbour, a ten-minute drive from the property, has a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. Buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from fisherman at the town dock, or visit the recently restored Haynes Library, which dates from 1897, for the weekly coffee hour for foreign residents and tourists. Governors Harbour has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, a dive shop, and a medical clinic. Friday Night Fish Fry in Governors Harbour, a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street, is not to be missed.

Eleuthera is famous for its 100 miles of spectacular, deserted beaches. The island, home to just 8000 residents, is completely safe any time of the day or night. Enjoy the rare experience of picking up hitch-hikers and leaving your keys in the car wherever you go. The snorkeling, diving, and fishing on the island are world class. Boating, surfing, and other water sports are also popular. You can rent power boats, sailboats, sea kayaks, bikes. You can have a charter captain take you out for excursions of various types. There is excellent sightseeing as well.

Guestbook comments from the manager

The property is a gem. From its unassuming, yet unique exterior to the high end interior this property delivered everything we were expecting and more! As with everyone we initially were wondering if being close to the highway would bother us. I can happily say NOT at all. Our kids had the rooms nearest the road and neither complained of any road noise. Yes you hear it but it's not annoying. It is easily offset by being Beachfront on an extremely beautiful beach with the most amazing calm, azure water and beautiful evening sunsets. We certainly enjoyed the variety of marine life right on our doorstep. Without a massive reef close by there was still some interesting snorkelling. We did our share of island exploring searching out places we hadn't been yet in addition to some old favourite spots. The reef off the south end of French Leave beach continues to get healthier after the hurricane from a few years back. The renovations on Daddy Joe's are very nice, spent some time at Pascals at the Sky Beach Club, and had a stellar meal at 1648.

Beautiful Beach!

  • 5 of 5

The house was great and so huge. I was surprised by how large it was. There were gorgeous views of the ocean from everywhere in the expansive main living area and the master bedroom. The bedrooms were very comfy and afforded everyone privacy. The beach was beautiful! Very long stretch of beach for long walks. The water was gorgeous and we really enjoyed the beach here. It is shallow for a good ways out. Very calm and very easy to enjoy. We basically had the entire beach to ourselves for the week. From time to time we would see a few people way off in the distance at the far end of the beach. It was great to have the privacy of having the beach to ourselves. We all had a great time and were glad that we rented this house and absolutely loved the beach! We did some exploring of other beaches on the island and enjoyed dinner out at Tippy's and Pascal's. We stopped by The Deckside for some drinks one day. It is close to the house, on the ocean and has an amazing setting and views. The location of the house was great. Governor's Harbour is just 10 minutes south of the house with the main grocery store, a 2nd grocery store and 2 liquor stores. The town of James Cistern is just 10 minutes north of the house with grocery stores and a liquor store as well. This was my fourth trip to Eleuthera and I had in past trips explored the island from the northern point to the southern. On this trip our group of 7 mostly just enjoyed being together at the house and beach. The caretaker was great and checked in on us and was a phone call away if we needed anything. Also the people at Eleuthera Vacation Rentals were wonderful and really great to work with. Very responsive and checked in on us as well once we arrived on Eleuthera. I would definitely recommend this house and we had a wonderful time during our stay!

Amazing Island, Exceptional Location

  • 5 of 5

Cool Cloud House is the house you aim for if you weee dropping a pin on a map of the islands. I have been to almost all of the island destinations in thr Carribean and the beach is better than 7 mile in Negril, Jamaica yet there is not another house in view, single jetski or banana boat. This home is right on the calmest most beautiful beach isolates and protected on the Carribean side of the island where you can walk out for a football field. We have young children and were able to take full advantage of this backyard paradise for hours on end each day without worry for strong currents, big waves or sharp rocks etc. The house is simple and modern which makes it easy to maintain while on vacation. The bbq fires right up, kitchen is very well appointed and plenty of towels and rafts. The agent and owner were kind enough to have extra chairs and umbrella purchased before our stay. Under the deck we found kayaks, rafts, snorkel gear a large picnic table where we collected more seashells and sandollara than I could imagine. Poster worthy pictures were a dime a dozen. We ate at the recommend restaurants from trip advisor and loved the few we tried especially pizza and icecream at Tippys, fresh catch from James Cisern pier and conch salad prepared on the street corner in Govenors Harbor. We had some trouble with the Wifi and TV but our agent and his staff had 2 hotspots dropped off and satalite TV working for us in hours. The views from every room are amazing and we kept the windows and slidIng doors open most days with no bugs or mosquitos. What we loved was that the front door is like a vault to a safe and every 3 pane sliding door has automatic shutters which allow you to shut the house down like a fort at night which is nice when you have yound children. There are supposedly many wonderful beaches and small attractions on the island however unlike many other island vacations we simply couldnt imagine leaving our beach for any reason. If someone needs to grab a missing sunblock from the house or wants to get the bbq going while some catch the sunset swim you are footsteps away from each other. They have outdoor showers and hoses to clean off and a large wrap around deck with picnic table and lounging beds everywhere you look. We will definitely be back to Cool Cloud.

Cool Cloud Does not Disappoint!

  • 4 of 5

Cool Cloud house is a fantastic home on a magnificent secluded beach. The home was perfect for 8 adults with 4 bedrooms and 4 Bathrooms, large common areas and well equipped kitchen. Air conditioning in each bedroom and the common areas worked perfectly. Washer/Dryer, plenty of towels and comfortable beds. You could not ask for a better location for beach access. This home is right on the beach and you can not see any neighbors. When the weather was windy on the beach at the house you can get to the Atlantic side of the island in less than 10 minutes. Fantastic beach there with crystal clear water and the softest sand imaginable. The only negative I could site would be the proximity to the main road. The back of the house is just steps from the main road on the island and traffic can be heard from the bedrooms at the back of the house. It is also difficult to back out of the driveway onto the highway with traffic going at a high rate of speed. That being said, the traffic on the main highway is not heavy. You have to remember that this is a remote island and things don't always work perfectly. We did not have internet access for the week we were there. We did use our iphones as hot spots and were reimbursed by the property owners. Overall I would give this property 4 out of 5 stars with the only negative being the proximity to the main road. Eleuthera is a must see destination.

Owner's Response: There is very little traffic on this road. A car might go by every few minutes. Most guests report that the road did not create any problem for them.

Breathtaking

  • 5 of 5

Eleuthera is amazing! This was our second trip to Eleuthera and first time at The Cool House. First let me say the house is amazing. It's location is perfect for those who just want a nice relaxing getaway. We only saw one couple walking the entire week we were there. We felt like we had our own personal beach. The house was perfect. There were 8 of us and we all had plenty of room. We loved the way the house was decorated and the beds were sooo comfortable. My favorite part was the beautiful tree inside. It felt so whimsical at night with no light but from the tree. The house was very well stocked with everything we needed. Linens, towels, and anything you needed for cooking. The gas grill was also a bonus as we cooked at home most nights. My kids loved the "purge" shades as they called them and they kept the house so cool.

Now for the beach, totally breathtaking! Again the location was perfect, no neighbors. The owners supplied floats as well as beach furniture for us to relax in. We floated the all day everyday. It is more like a lake than a sea. NO rough waves, no getting knocked down and rolled through the surf. Just grab a float and relax. The was is the clearest water I have ever seen. We snorkeled nearly everyday. There were also kayaks provided by the homeowner which we took full advantage of daily. We had so much fun at the house, there was no need to leave. We did make one excursion to preacher's cave and glass window bridge. Both were great! Matt and Tara are great to work with, very attentive and quick to respond. Sonia takes care of the house and is the sweetest person I have ever met. She is a great source for Eleuthera Info and very attentive to our needs. We adored her. I could ramble for days about our glorious trip to The Cool House, but I will end we this. My kids did not use social media for 7 days, enough said. Lol. To sum it up, best vacation ever! Perfect house, perfect beach, perfect water and wonderful people! My family plans to return next year. To the owner, thank you so much for sharing your piece of paradise with us!!

BEST VACATION EVER

  • 5 of 5

We loved every minute of our vacation on Eleuthera. This was our first trip to Eleuthera, but certainly not our last.

First about the house: The house is beautiful and it was stocked with everything we needed for our stay. The house was even more beautiful in person. We fixed a few meals at the house and had all the pots and pans and utensils we needed. Matt and Tara were quick to answer all our questions and they were great to work with. There are not adequate words to describes how beautiful the beach and view is at this house. It is amazing. The first two or three days the water was so calm and clear that it looked like a bathtub...albeit a big bathtub with shells, colorful fish, lots of starfish, and even a stingray. I have some pictures I took of the shells in the water and you can't tell that it's a picture of water. We also got to experience some storms at the end of the week. The waves really crashed up against the pilings and water was up on the concrete under the house.

The house is centrally located on the island and made getting around very easy. I highly recommend buying The Beach Book on Amazon. Besides "our beach", some of our favorite places we went to were Lighthouse Beach, Surfer's Beach, Pink Sand Beach on Harbour Island, and Glass Window Bridge. Highly recommend renting a jeep for the high clearance. We chartered a boat/captain and went snorkeling, conch diving, and to the marker bars. LOVED that day! We found lots of good shells at our beach snorkeling, at Comber's Beach (only good thing about that beach), and at the marker bars. Found a huge, beautiful conch shell over 12" long. We found tons of sea glass at Surfer's Beach.

The people are so friendly on Eleuthera. We never met a stranger the entire week. My favorite part of the entire week was church on Sunday at Governor's Harbour Wesley Methodist Church. The church is beautiful, the music was amazing, and the people made us feel like family.

Eleuthera is not the place for you if you like an action packed vacation with lots of activities and people, roller coasters and theme parks, or vacations in a concrete jungle. However, if you want to get away from the stresses of every day life, stare at the most amazing scenery, and fully embrace "island time", then give Eleuthera a try. I started planning our next trip to Eleuthera on the flight home!
