Traditional Maine Summer Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at Karen's Cottage!

The cottage was clean and ready to enjoy. The area is very quiet with Frenchman's Bay views just down the road.

The cottage is just like Karen's pictures show.

If you are looking for a super sophisticated house then this is not for you. If you want to experience a traditional Maine summer cottage then you cannot go wrong renting this cottage!

Perfect location on Mount Desert Island

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Maine. We do all our of research on the internet, and Karen's Cottage was very true to the description on the website. It is in a very convenient location with easy access to all of the sites we wanted to see. Yet, it is in a peaceful, beautiful and relaxing setting. The cottage is very clean, and it was well-stocked with paper products, dish & laundry detergent, etc. Even those small things mean a lot when you are on vacation! I hope we get to come back, and we would certainly stay in Karen's Cottage again.

Owner's Response: I am so glad you enjoyed my cottage. It is very well equiped with everything you could possably need and it is a very cozy cottage. You are only 400 ft. from the shore so you can go searching for sea glass or sea shells or have a picnic. When the tide is coming in over the hot rocks the water is warm enough to go swimming. You are close to Bar Harbor, only 4 miles and just 1 1/2 miles to Acadia National Pk. The cottage has a 12 x 30 ft. deck with very comfortable deck furniture.

Small, cozy, with everything you need, except maybe a hair dryer. Short walk to the ocean with great seashell finds. The deck is an awesome place to have a group or just enjoy.

Owner's Response: I am very happy that you enjoyed your stay at my cottage and wrote a review for me. Reviews are very important for me and the vacationers. It tells me what people need and want and how I could make it better. I also want to thank you for taking such good care of my cottage. You really helped me out a lot and my sprained foot appreciates it. Thanks for the hair dryer. I will leave it in the cottage. I hope to see you back again someday, Karen

Great Place to stay and relax.

  • 5 of 5

First,of all it's a great location. It's very quite there and away from a very busy Bar Harbor. But, you are only 4 miles from Bar Harbor.

The house has everything you would possibly need and more. If you like to cook like I do, Karen has a well furnish kitchen. My husband

and I were more than happy there for a week. It was very cozy and comfortable. Everything on her web page is exactly the way the house is.

Karen lives next door but, she never bother you unless you need something.

Karen takes pride in her cottage it was very clean and well stocked.

We would highly recommend this cottage for a get away time.

Thanks so much Karen,

Stephen and Sherri Bartlett

Wonderful vacation cottage

  • 5 of 5

Karen's cottage is exactly as advertised. We brought our two dogs and it was a great property for them as well as a wonderful neighborhood to walk them in. The cottage is well furnished and lacks for nothing. As other reviewers have mentioned she has provided just about anything you could think of needing. Truly the only thing I would add or bring if we return would be Ziploc bags. The living room is well furnished and all of the furniture is comfortable. The queen size bed is great for sleeping and there are plenty of linens as well. The cottage stayed cool and there were fans if needed. We didn't get to use the deck very much, but it is functional with plenty of seating.

The property is right down the road from Acadia and Bar Harbor. We went back and forth several times each day and it was very convenient from the cottage. We did not find the traffic overly challenging and were typically able to get parking in town. Acadia is breathtaking and Bar Harbor enchanting.

The water pump noise was unfamiliar and it startled us at first until we figured out what it was. The shower water pulses which took some getting used to. This was not a problem, just different. There is a large screen TV with Direct TV which was very nice and wi fi that worked great.

Karen is very helpful and obviously takes pride in her property. Her dog is adorable and our dogs were happy to have him visit. We didn't have any problems during our stay. There was a flood light out and she bought a new one that my husband put in for her. The yard was mowed and free from dog waste and she provides tools for cleaning up messes if needed.

We had hoped we could get down to the ocean near the property when the tide was out, but it was not very easy due to the rockiness of the shoreline. This was a little disappointing, but we just went down the road a short ways when the tide would go out and enjoyed it from there. Karen recommended the Chart Room to eat at and it was excellent. We would definitely go back. One thing to think about possibly adding that we would enjoy would be a fire pit

This is a great cottage rental and we would definitely stay here again if we return to the area, which we hope to do. Thank you Karen

Lovely Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

Karen worked with us with a last minute request to stay at her cottage. We loved it from the moment we arrived. It was very clean, equipped, and comfortable. The kitchen was outstanding-every appliance, serving dish, amenity you could possibly want or need. Settling down in the evenings in the beautiful living room area was great. Recliners and a massive flat screen TV along with plants and knick knacks made it all very homey! We were in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park every day and it was a very easy transit back and forth to the cottage. The ice maker didn't work correctly and Karen fixed that right away. Wi-Fi wasn't available to us. We loved being able to do laundry when we wanted to in the new, modern, efficient, fast washer and dryer. it was also great to not have to pack much for our stay. Karen is kind and generous enough to provide a lot of the little things like dish soap, linens for bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. She even followed up our visit with a phone call to our home to thank us. We found her very accessible and easy going if we had questions or asked for recommendations in the area while we stayed in her cottage. Thank you Karen for a great visit! We would recommend to it to anyone!
