About Ellen Hill

I am honored to have a home that allows me to share the beauty of Vermont. I lived in Vermont since 1974 take great pride in our cultural heritage and environment. If you are a lover of nature and culture--or desire a quiet, private get-away, this place will offer you many options.

As an advid biker, skier, kayaker and all-around general outdoor enthusiast, I'd be honored to share the magic of the region.

Ellen Hill purchased this studio in 2013

Why Ellen Hill chose Jeffersonville

The Pondhouse has been called magical and enchanted. I've travelled and lived overseas and have served in the Peace Corps. To own a home (that actually has two homes) and allows me to host people from all over the world is a unique privilege. Now that I have offered The Pondhouse to others and I read the reviews and the notes that are left behind, I know that others cherish their time here and create special memories. I have been meeting the nicest people who love the magic of Vermont!

What makes this studio unique

The Pondhouse has been described many ways:

"The "home" as well as the outside surroundings with the gardens and the mountains in the background are spectacular, peaceful and pristine."

"Perfect weekend getaway to escape the city and find true peace and quiet. The house was tucked away and all you could hear were birds and frogs."

"The Pondhouse felt like a home away from home."

"If you are looking for a convenient, well- appointed, lovely spot to get away from it all, this is your place. The photos can't possibly do it justice."

"It is a perfect place for a couples getaway, great space for cooking and enjoying a meal and each other."

"It's peaceful with beautiful surroundings, yet conveniently located just down the road from the bustle at Smuggler's Notch."

Come discover the magic for yourself!

The property is absolutely beautiful! The pondhouse is romantic and wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

Staying at the pondhouse was spectacular, it is beautiful and fully equipped with all the cookware needed. It was spotless upond arrival, of course, and provided cleaning materials to use. It is very spacious and the heat keeps the entire place warm and cozy for chilly nights. The view is magical and you can watch wildlife, such as deer and small creatures browse the property, right from the pondhouse couch. The furniture and bed is comfortable. Ellen was a fantastic host and was readily available to answer any questions we had. I would most definitely stay at the pondhouse again. It would be perfect for individuals and families who are visiting Smugglers Notch.

Perfect location!!

  • 5 of 5

Ellen was a great host! Her place is beautiful and very comfortable! She had done everything possible to make you feel right at home. Having a glass of wine on the patio overlooking the pond as the sun sets was so relaxing!

The location is great for a lot of hiking and biking which is what we came for. Smugglers Notch area has so much to offer and Ellen also hooked us up with a new bike trail that ran right through Jeffersonville. It was just the relief our legs needed after a demanding hike the day before. She had everything we needed to cook in-house and relax after returning from a long day of hiking or biking.

There is a small local grocery just minutes away or a larger store within 30 minutes.

Ellen's attention to detail made this the perfect place and just what we were looking for. We highly recommend this property and will stay there again if we return to the area.

Awesome place!

  • 5 of 5

The Pondhouse is such a cozy, comfortable place from which one can climb mountains, bicycle, go on scenic drives, or just plain kick back. We loved our three night stay and plan to come back again often. Ellen is the greatest host.

We highly recommend the Pondhouse!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at the Pondhouse. The setting is absolutely beautiful and welcoming. And the living space is even better than you can imagine. It's spacious and well cared for. And the kitchen has everything you need. Ellen is a fantastic host. She's easy going and very friendly and helpful. We came to Vermont for a few days to relax and found ourselves at ease right away. The view of the landscape out of the huge windows was serene and amazing in itself, but we also enjoyed the little patio, and, as a bonus, the sky was so full of stars at night! The location is superb. Very close to the small, yet accommodating community of Jeffersonville. And just a short drive to Smuggler's Notch and Stowe. You will definitely enjoy your stay at the Pondhouse. But be forewarned.... You'll drive away longing to have stayed just a little longer and planning to schedule your next visit!
