About Ellen Hill

I am honored to have a home that allows me to share the beauty of Vermont. I lived in Vermont since 1974 take great pride in our cultural heritage and environment. If you are a lover of nature and culture--or desire a quiet, private get-away, this place will offer you many options.

As an advid biker, skier, kayaker and all-around general outdoor enthusiast, I'd be honored to share the magic of the region.

Ellen Hill purchased this studio in 2013

Why Ellen Hill chose Vermont

The Pondhouse has been called magical and enchanted. I've travelled and lived overseas and have served in the Peace Corps. To own a home (that actually has two homes) and allows me to host people from all over the world is a unique privilege. Now that I have offered The Pondhouse to others and I read the reviews and the notes that are left behind, I know that others cherish their time here and create special memories. I have been meeting the nicest people who love the magic of Vermont!

What makes this studio unique

The Pondhouse has been described many ways:

"The "home" as well as the outside surroundings with the gardens and the mountains in the background are spectacular, peaceful and pristine."

"Perfect weekend getaway to escape the city and find true peace and quiet. The house was tucked away and all you could hear were birds and frogs."

"The Pondhouse felt like a home away from home."

"If you are looking for a convenient, well- appointed, lovely spot to get away from it all, this is your place. The photos can't possibly do it justice."

"It is a perfect place for a couples getaway, great space for cooking and enjoying a meal and each other."

"It's peaceful with beautiful surroundings, yet conveniently located just down the road from the bustle at Smuggler's Notch."

Come discover the magic for yourself!

YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Omg. I can't even tell you the amazing time and place we had on our first trip to Vermont!!!!!! Absolutely amazing! Ellen is by far the best! She's got great energy, she's easy going, and beyond helpful! The Pondhouse is beautiful! It's quiet and stunningly beautiful in the summer! It didn't even matter that it rained our whole stay! We will definitely be back to the Pondhouse! It fit our family of 4 just right!! The kids loved the pond and all the newts! Waking up to that sight every morning was so refreshing!!! I will tell you, we come from the desert with open roads, so if you aren't use to tree lined roads, it's SCARY to drive at night! Other than that this place is by far the best choice! From Ellen to location and everything in between, it's absolute perfection! Thank you so much for everything Ellen! You were a delight and the magical nest you've created is just what we were looking for!

Great location, beautiful property, spacious room for two.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in Vermont this weekend. Ellen was a great host and the grounds are just beautiful. The photos don't truly show how open and bright the pond house is, it was much more spacious and open with very tall ceilings than I anticipated. It was perfect for us!

Nice quiet retreat. close to outdoor activities

  • 5 of 5

Just love this place for a quiet retreat. Jeffersonville is a nice little town with a nice health food store and massage therapists for when the skiing is not awesome! Nice hiking too! Clean, well appointed comfortable. Ellen is a great host, very responsive but laid back.

In almost every way better than the resort

  • 5 of 5

We are skiers and we came to ski. We've been to Smuggs many times before and we have always stayed in the resort. I just started using VRBO properties and saw this one and thought how cute it was. So I thought we should give it a try. I am glad we did. It is exactly as pictured and I think I preferred Ellen's place to the resort. It was close enough that the drive was inconsequential, and it was much quieter, bigger, and the kitchen better equipped (we hate eating out) We didn't miss the resort feel. Other pluses- You don't get a mountain view like that out the windows at the resort. We even saw deer in the yard. Most importantly for us, Ellen allowed our dog to come too.
