About Mike or Karen Kanters

We are a Northwoods family that owns a small family resort in Winter, Wi. Last year we decided to buy this unique cabin to have as our own getaway. We decided to also make this available for rent although we love to escape frequently to fish and sun off of the pontoon boat pier.

Mike or Karen Kanters purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Mike or Karen Kanters chose Northwest

Cable is a jewel in Northwest, Wi. It has beautiful lakes and scenery. The town is charming with great amneties. The cross-country skiing and biking are some of the best nationwide. We use this place as an escape from work.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin is quaint and charming. It is like staying on Walden's pond with power. It is a quiet no-wake lake so we never hear the sounds of jet skis or motors racing around the lake. Wildlife is plentiful.

Delightful cabin in Wisconsin Northwoods

  • 5 of 5

A very cozy and comfortable cabin for 2 on lovely Lake Wilipyro. The location is wonderful for a peaceful and relaxing getaway. Lake Wilipyro is idyllic. The only disturbance is the croaking of frogs and the crazy call of a (seemingly) solitary loon. The cottage is exceptionally neat and well-appointed. One thing to note if you like to cook (I do): there is precious little countertop space and the cutlery at the cabin is rudimentary. If you intend to prepare your own meals, I would advise you to bring some small cutting boards and your own knives. Wine glasses wouldn't be a bad idea either. But if your main objective is peace, quiet and maybe a little fishing, this cabin is ideal.

Perfect little cabin on the lake

  • 5 of 5

For my first HomeAway experience, this place was absolutely perfect! It's close to a few other cabins so Saturday night was a little busy, but during the week I was all alone. Beautiful, woodsy, charming cabin and area. Loved everything about it!

Peaceful, relaxing and beautiful little cabin for two.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I really enjoyed our long weekend up north. The cabin is just the right size for two. We fished in the mornings and evenings and caught nice size fish right off the dock. We also toured around the nearby areas during the day. Plenty of things to do if you want to explore and relaxing enough if you just hang out on the lake or in cabin. I definitely would recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonably priced getaway.

Quaint and Lovely! Cyclist approved.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a "mini-moon" after our small wedding. It was so lovely to get away for a couple of days. The cabin is close to a few other cabins but we stayed on a Sunday-Tuesday and seemed to have the place to ourselves. It's also nestled up a little hill and is very private even if others had been staying.

In addition to the lake and canoe, we made use of all the endless dirt roads to do some cycling. This was paradise! Riding for hours on rolling gravel hills without seeing a soul. We hope to stay again in the winter months. What a beautiful spot! The cabin is outfitted with everything you need for a little get away for two.
