This charming cabin is perfect for a solitary retreat or a romantic getaway for two. This lovely year-round log cabin is one of seven cabins on eight secluded, wooded acres with 950 feet of frontage on a crystal clear 77 acre Lake Wilipyro. Also surrounded by the Chequamegon National Forest. Your vacation rental includes a canoe. There is an outdoor grill, fire pit and a picnic table. There is a sand beach on the lake frontage near the cabin. The cabin has a cozy gas fireplace in the living room area to warm you on chilly Northwoods evenings. The romantic cabin for two has a comfortable double bed. Please bring your own personal towels while on vacation. This unique northwoods vacation cabin includes a kitchen with a stove, refrigerator, microwave and utensils. The living room area with fireplace also has two hand-made custom wood rocking chairs for the perfect northwoods experience. Relax and read a book or watch the wildlife. There is a wood-fired sauna on the property that is a separate building from the main cabin. Great for that relaxing vacation getaway experience. Hear the haunting cry of the loons and the lap of the waves at water's edge.
We are a Northwoods family that owns a small family resort in Winter, Wi. Last year we decided to buy this unique cabin to have as our own getaway. We decided to also make this available for rent although we love to escape frequently to fish and sun off of the pontoon boat pier.
Mike or Karen Kanters purchased this cabin in 2010
Cable is a jewel in Northwest, Wi. It has beautiful lakes and scenery. The town is charming with great amneties. The cross-country skiing and biking are some of the best nationwide. We use this place as an escape from work.
The cabin is quaint and charming. It is like staying on Walden's pond with power. It is a quiet no-wake lake so we never hear the sounds of jet skis or motors racing around the lake. Wildlife is plentiful.
Overall, everything we needed was at the cabin. It was clean and thoughtfully organized. The lake was quiet and calm. We had a relaxing getaway!
Everything was perfect, couldn't have asked for a more relaxing trip
My wife and I spent the Labor day weekend at Mike and Karen's cabin on Lake Wilipyro. The cabin, location and everything was just as described on their listing. The cabin has easy access to the towns of Cable and Drummond. We enjoyed several restaurants within a 20 minute drive. Attended an Art Tour of 4 local artists - an event that takes place yearly. Canoed, fished and did everyting we wanted to do on vacation.
We saw plenty of wild life including deer and while canoeing, we had a pair of Loons swim within about 10 feet of us. Fishing, I caught 2 16-18 inch northerns, a couple of 2-3 pound largemouths and plenty of bluegills and perch from the dock.
Once again ---- great time ----- thanks!
My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to stay for a long weekend over the 4th of July holiday this year. We started looking rather late and weren't able to find too many places that were willing to accommodate a short stay as opposed to a week long stay and then we stumbled across the Hemlock Hideaway. Karen and Mike were very quick to respond to emails and answering any questions we had about the rental and the area. When we got to Cable, we were pleasantly surprised by the cozy little cabin. It looks pretty true to the pictures that are posted and it accommodated the two of us just fine. It was simply decorated and had a nice bathroom and small kitchen area to cook in. It is small, but we didn't need anymore room than what was there.
The pontoon dock was nice and the use of the canoe was great. Its a little awkward to fish in (a rowboat would of been better) but we made do with it and caught an abundance of Bass, a few bluegills and a couple crappies. We fished quite a bit and really enjoyed being on the lake. It was super peaceful at night and the neighbors all respected each other. We had a rain day one day so we drove up to Ashland and then up to Bayfield and explored the area there. Then drove back down along Lake Namakagon and spent some time eating lunch there a couple days. Our trip even included seeing a black bear and her three cubs cross the road in front of us when we were driving!
The only thing we didn't really like was that their was no firepit in front of the unit. It is shared with the other properties on the beach and we felt a bit like we were intruding on the neighbors by using it. A portable fire pit in front of the cabin would of been nice! Everything else was great and we really enjoyed our time on Lake Wilipyro! We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway! :)
This little cabin was very clean, cute & comfy. Perfect for a couple. The owners are very prompt to respond to emails, and obviously take pride in keeping their property in tiptop condition. Kitchen had everything we needed (in the past we've stayed at cabins where we had to make a trip to the local dollarstore to fetch this or that). There's a wooden stairway, with handrails, down to the dock. The pontoon dock has a well-placed umbrella for shade, and is a great place to sit & read, as are the lawn chairs in front of the cabin. The picnic table is sturdy. (2 people can sit on the side overlooking the lake & it won't tip.) The small lake is fun to explore by canoe, & has resident loons & beavers. Only one other cabin in the complex is fairly close to (but not beside) the "Hideaway," but it has a quiet, considerate owner who respects your privacy. We enjoyed relaxing peace & quiet at the Hideaway, even on Memorial Day weekend. The Cable area is full of hiking (& cross-country ski & mountain bike) trails, but the cabin is very cozy & pleasant on a rainy day. Even though the cabin feels up-north & remote, Cable is only a couple of miles away, so it's easy to make a run into town for an espresso at the Brick House Cafe, or a look at the historic log library, or shopping for pottery & gifts, or trail information from the friendly & very helpful Visitor Center, and the bookstore/gift/pizza restaurant complex even has some gluten-free products for sale! Skinny-but-tall Morgan Falls is a fun & easy side trip, less than an hour's drive (63 north past Drummond & Grandview to cty E, then down Ashland/Bayfield road). Easy hike to falls, optional more difficult climb to a scenic overlook (see all the way to Chequamegon bay on a clear day). This whole part of Wisconsin is scenic & wooded, beautiful even if all you do is just drive around in your car. The cabin would be problematic for wheelchair etc access, but aside from that, we would definitely recommend Hemlock Hideaway to any couple who wants to get away!
Wow! This small but cozy cabin was just what my wife and I needed to get away and relax. Wildlife viewing is plentiful and the water is crystal clear. If you are looking for quiet and solitude this hidden gem on Lake Willipyro is the way to go!
