The residence was recently reimagined by the acclaimed team behind the television show Restoring Galveston, who brought fresh life to its classic architecture while preserving its storied foundation. Its façade, original brick pathways, and charming coastal proportions nod to its ancestry, while the interiors have been elevated to offer every contemporary comfort.

Inside, the home welcomes up to eight guests with a spacious and intuitive layout ideal for both retreat and gathering. A thoughtful floor plan includes three elegant bedrooms, each with its own ensuite, as well as a cozy study with a queen-size sleeper sofa and convenient half bath. The primary suite features a king bed, a luxurious bath with a double shower and soaking tub, and ample natural light. There is an additional primary suite on the first floor with a king bed and a luxurious bath with a walk-in shower.

This is a wonderful place to visit. Perfect set up for entertaining friend's and family for my birthday weekend. Cant ask for a better place to stay in my opinion. The parking is great and that can be an issue on the island but not here. We hope to go back soon. The pool is heated and cooled. That is a great bonus. Just go there you will not be disappointed.

Great Rental for a Galveston Family Vacation

We had an excellent stay! The house is beautiful, spacious, clean, and perfect for a relaxing family getaway. The kitchen is great for a family stay - organized, well-equipped, and made cooking feel easy and enjoyable. Each room was comfortable, and the layout worked great for our group.The pool was clean and just the right size for a refreshing dip, especially after a day out. We also appreciated how easy it was to get to the Galveston Pier, just a straight shot and a short drive.The hosts were friendly, responsive, and genuinely helpful.

We just loved this property!! Everything was wonderful from the check-in until check-out. You will get a sense of history staying here. The pool was great as well as the size. It was just right for our family. We will definitely be going back.

Wonderful for Friends Retreat

We had a truly lovely time. The house was immaculate, charming and had all we needed. The beds and sheets were super cozy. The decor was thoughtful and tasteful. We cooked several meals in the terrific kitchen. A little storm kept us from enjoying the pool, but we certainly will when we return. Highly recommend this gem.

Absolute Gem of The Island

We can not say enough about how much we loved our stay. This is a beautiful, warm and welcoming home. It felt more like staying at a friend or families home than it did a rental. It is well stocked with basics and beyond, no detail was missed. The front porch swing and pool are such lovely bonuses, you can really relax and enjoy yourself in any spot of the property. We can't wait to come back.

Beautiful Home

The owner provided all the check-in information before I arrived making it a seamless check in. The Home was extreamly well maintained and clean. Spacious, comfortable and relaxing. The pool was nice and enjoyable. Accurate listing description. Communication with the owner was always met with a immediate reply. Short easy drive to the beach. The home is packed with amenities. The property is fenced in with a security gate securing the driveway for great peace of mind knowing the element of security is there. One of the best stays in Galveston. Highly recommend.

Why they chose this property

We used to stay on the west end, but all there is to do is 100% beach! The fun of Galveston is all the bars, restaurants, attractions and yes, the beach. But the west end is 30 minutes from most of the fun. So we bought this property in the middle of it all. Everything is just 5 minutes away.

What makes this property unique

HISTORY OF THE PROPERTY: The house was built in 1871 for Walter and Caroline Ansell. Its is a five-bay-wide center-hall gulf coast cottage. Walter was a Civil War veteran and he established the Texas Ice Company, which shipped ice from Maine and Massachusetts to Galveston. This home was a 1900 Storm Survivor. As a result, parts of the island was lifted and the sea wall was built.

Part of the home was given to his son in the early 1900s. Original foundation bricks were used for the walkways and back fountain. The house has seen several owners since then but in the early 2000s, it was partially restored to its early American design. It has been featured on the cover of Houston House & Home and was featured on the Galveston Historical Homes Tour.

In 2022, Michael and Ashley Cordray from the television show "Restoring Galveston" bought and restored the Ansell house to its former glory. It has the best of both worlds - the Historic home charm but with all of the modern amenities such as a chef's kitchen, private pool, new central air-conditioning, Smart TVs and super fast WIFI! This house is a Historic Galveston Gem worth experiencing!
