Because of its moderate price and awesome gulf views, The Florence I has long been a favorite of Island visitors. If you like your beach rental Dirty with Roaches This is the place!!!

Let me start by saying I have been a Residential Property Manager for 20+ years. This unit was really dirty, actual piles of dirt and filth all around the bathroom floor, black mold around the shower faucet, the floor was so dirty by the front door and kitchen we had to clean it just to walk on it when we brought our stuff in from the car. The picture for the listing is of the view which is the only part of this condo you will want to see. However while you are sitting on the couch (circa 1980) looking at the view expect to see roaches literally running from the balcony door to the kitchen. Nothing in this condo has been updated since the late 70's or early 80"s including the furniture....Beautifully Furnished!!!! Did the beautiful furniture get repossessed??? Do not rent this unit.

This was a very miss leading advertisement. Property was not what was shown. DONT LEASE!!!!

Very dated, No Hot Water for your showers. No parking. Very open property, so didn't feel safe when couldn't find a place to park. Parking Garage very small and inconvenient. (hard to park) Anyone can walk up and get on elevator to go to your room. No gates.

Owner's Response: I am sorry to hear that you did not love your stay here on South Padre Island. We try to do our best to set our guest expectation when renting a condo and I am sorry we were not able to be as clear as you like. The condo has such an amazing view and excellent price point that most of our renters have really enjoyed and valued their stay in this condo. The pictures do show the condo exactly how it is, I understand that we do not have new flat top stoves or stainless steel refrigerators, however, we make sure the savings are passed on to the guest. As you experienced, we do get busy during the summer and parking at the condo is limited, but there is additional parking directly across the street. We are aware that the garage is small and are careful not to advertise it as having covered parking. We do give you all the parking information when you checked in, I am sorry if you overlooked that information. Again, I am so sorry that you did not enjoy your stay.

Shabby condo

Everything about this place felt like it was 30 years old and dirty. I mean, the floors were swept and the sheets were clean, but place needs some serious TLC. There is no dishwasher, and the dish rack they provide felt grimy, so I didn't want to use it. While the dishes were clean, I did not feel the same about the pots and pans. In the bathroom, it looked like they had painted over rust spots on the faucet. The property itself was not all that great either. The elevator was glacially slow, and suffocatingly hot. I had stuff stolen out of my car also. The only redeeming quality about this place was that the balcony view was of the beach. This was my first time visiting SPI, and I was not at all impressed with this condo. If I ever come back, I'm finding a place with a gated garage!

Better than expected

My boyfriend and I recently stayed in this condo. From May 4 through 10, 2015. It was better than we expected it to be. The view from the balcony was amazing. It had everything we needed. There is also a very large walk in closet off of the bedroom. The bed was very comfortable. We could see the fireworks from the beach in front of the condos. There were several beach bars within walking distance. And just a short drive to restaurants, the Blue Marlin grocery store and the bay side bars and restaurants. And other activities. We enjoyed watching the kite boarders even though we weren't brave enough to try it. The beach was very clean and well patrolled. We enjoyed our stay here very much and would definitely stay here again. And recommend it to our friends and family members.

Upon arrival please check in with Padre Island Rentals at 3100 Padre Blvd. on the corner of Padre Blvd. & Kingfish St. Our office is 1 3/4 miles north of the causeway and one block north of the Blue Marlin supermarket. You may collect a maximum of 2 parking permits. 1 permit will allow to park next to the building subject to spaces being available or in any of the parking areas west of Padre Blvd. The second permit is only for parking in Florence I's parking areas west of Padre Blvd. NO parking is provided for boat trailers or RV's..

After checking in and receiving your parking permit(s), make a right on Padre Blvd. and head north to the intersection of Morningside St. & Padre Blvd. turn right onto Morningside St. and go to the end of the block where Morningside St. ends at Gulf Blvd. Florence I entrance is at 5550 Gulf Blvd., there is limited covered parking. On E. Cora Lee St. or in the unmarked space provided in front the building.
