About Blake Blazek

Went to school in Leakey .

I still farm small acreage close to the property.

Its nice not to have the traffic or cell phone buzzing constantly.

Blake Blazek purchased this house in 1975

Why Blake Blazek chose Rio Frio

Privately owned and managed

What makes this house unique

Sit on the large upstairs deck with a cool night breeze and count the stars in the night sky. You will probably see a shooting star or the satellites that pass over from east to west. Very little light pollution out in the Texas Hill Country!

Relaxing river retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four enjoyed staying at this clean and spacious property located right next to the Frio River. There was plenty of room for us, beds were comfy, and the kitchen and bathrooms are updated nicely. Please believe it when the instructions say to bring ALL towels including kitchen towels, and extra paper towels, TP, etc. Also, if you are planning on cooking, be sure to bring EVERYTHING you will need, including salt, sugar, and oil. The pantry is literally bare. Also there aren't many cooking pans/utensils so if you need anything special (corkscrew, cheese grater, fine mesh strainer, garlic press, etc) then you should bring it. We had to scramble a bit to figure out some creative cooking solutions so come prepared. But the property itself is nice and the river is an easy walk across a gravel road. We walked downriver a little bit to find an easy entry for our kids. Bring your folding chairs and swimsuits and get away from the world for a while. (Note: no wifi, and no cell service at the house. We were able to get cell service once we drove back out to the highway which is close by.) We also enjoyed the deck with beautiful sunsets!

Perfect location for floating the Frio with Beautiful & Peaceful home and nature

  • 5 of 5

We loved the Rio Frio Home!! It was perfect for a family of 6 which includes my husband & I and kids ages 4, 9, 16 and 17. The inside of the home was clean and newly updated. I really liked the little touch of light music playing when we walked in......made us feel at home right away. Each morning we would start our day enjoying coffee and breakfast while relaxing to the sounds of the beautiful cardinals on the upstairs porches in the front and back of the home. We spent a lot of time in the evenings hanging out on the large downstairs back porch. The porch was open that there was room to set up a game of Corn Hole while my husband grilled our dinner.

Each morning we would drop one of our vehicles off at Happy Hollow and pay for all of us to exit the river at their site. We brought our own tubes so we would go back to the Frio house and enter the river right in front of our home and enjoy the 2-3 hour float down to Happy Hollow.

The house had almost all cooking utensils, pots and dishes but don't forget your own towels (bathing, river, hand towels, kitchen towels and paper towels) and toiletry items. There were a few extra toilet paper rolls in the downstairs area above the toilet and thats where we finally located the extra trash bags.

My husband and I liked reading through the book with past guest experiences and it was quite informational for our stay at the Frio River.

We look forward to our next stay at the Rio Frio home, hopefully next summer!!

Hesitate to say anything too positive for fear this little quiet corner on the Frio will become too popular! This is a super comfortable home with everything you need to have a relaxing stay.

Family Vacation 2017

  • 5 of 5

We had to notify the owner that the house had not been cleaned, sheets washed, barbeque pit still had coals in it, grill dirty, garbage, etc. But it did not stop us from taking care of the matter ourselves.

Blake came by to visit us...a very nice man.

His house was perfect for us for our annual vacation.

Owner's Response: Yes, Jane was a real trooper. It was nice of them to handle the situation so politely. I have been using the current cleaning lady for 3 years with no issues. This was her first time to not show up, she had her calendar wrong. I did discount their stay for the trouble.
